Buddha & the Dragon

Diane Quinn

Dear Friends – Wednesday 26 May is Wesak* & the start of the eclipse season for 2021. Tonight, the silver disc of Bella Luna in her Full phase hovers huge in the heavens all night long, then as the birds begin to wake, her brilliant light will suddenly turn blood red, as she crosses Cauda Draconis – the Moon’s South Node or Dragon’s Tail, associated with misfortune & the need to pay for past debts – Cauda Draconis calls for us to heed our karma & to put an end to something that no longer serves…

Here in Chicago the partial lunar eclipse can be seen starting at 3:30 am CT when we will be able to see the Super Flower Moon pass thru the darkest part of Earth’s shadow – catch her before she sets at 5:26 am CT  (it may be thundering & lightning here at the Great Inland Sea of Chicago, you may be sleeping, but we can still live into this image)

This cosmic & earthly event is happening while the world celebrates *Wesak, the biggest Buddhist festival of the year, which celebrates the ‘birth, enlightenment & death of the Buddha’ on one & the same day, traditionally when the Sun is in Taurus, & the Moon in Scorpio.

What does it mean that this year the coils of the Dragon wrap around the Buddha Moon?

The Buddha (whose name means: ‘The Awakened One’ or ‘One who Knows’) is regarded as the ninth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. He was born in 563 BC on the Full Moon of May in Vaisakh.

The Full Moon in May is a mystically auspicious time – This ‘Buddha Moon’ is considered to be the greatest moment of spiritual contact for the entire year. Great polarities are said to be synthesized at this festival. Hope is revived in the world, & great seeds of beauty, truth, & goodness are planted within us – qualities needed for the unity of humankind.

Ancient Wisdom asserts that there will be a new coming of the World Avatar & those beings who assist them. But the reality set forth & embedded within this festival, is that WE, as a living unity called humanity, are to be that World Avatar, when we can live as “Christ in me”…

The Wesak Festival provides us each year with a reception of the tools of Love & Wisdom, to fulfill this ancient prophecy.

What all the higher beings have done, we can do also, taking up our responsibility as the 10th hierarchy to radiate the Christ Impulse out to all the kingdoms of Earth -becoming like little suns – emanating rays from the very core of our “I”, thru the vehicle of our bodies, from our purified hearts, & specifically from our forehead, where our third eye is located. This is the Bulls Eye of Taurus – the Sun of May – & the mystery of the transformative Scorpio Moon.

And this year we will have to be extra vigilant – for we are called to meet Cauda Draconis. Rudolf Steinertells us:that when there is an eclipse of the moon, thoughts stream through darkness down upon the earth; and that such thoughts have a closer relationship with the subconscious life than with the conscious life of the human being. The old initiates often made use of a certain simile when speaking to their pupils. It is; of course, necessary to translate their words into modern language, but this is the gist of what they said: “Visionaries and dreamers love to go for rambles by moonlight, when the moon is full. There are, however, certain people who have no wish to receive the good thoughts coming to them from the cosmos, but who, on the contrary, are desirous of getting hold of evil, diabolical thoughts. Such people will choose the moment of a lunar eclipse for their nocturnal wanderings.” ~Human Questions and Cosmic Answers

Gautama Buddha once said: “Your mind is a powerful thing. When you filter it with positive thoughts, your life will start to change.”

Dear friends will you join me in bringing the energy of the Buddha into your thoughts tonight before bed & when you wake..? And for those that want to stand up to the dragon, know that I will be there with you before the Sun rises & the Moon sets.

Let your love flow outward through the universe, To its height, its depth, its broad extent, A limitless love, without hatred or enmity. Then as you stand or walk, Sit or lie down, As long as you are awake, Strive for this with a one-pointed mind; Your life will bring heaven to earth.” ~Gautama Buddha

  1. Hi Kyle and Hazel,

I just came upon these remarks tonight and find it so welcome and hopeful that we can speak across the great divide of space and time. Since this forum is largely about the workings of the spiritual underlying all superficial considerations, and would leave personal opinion out of account, it is possible to say much more than is possible on more conventional formats wherein the ego of the folk soul within more restricted parameters prevails. Yet, we all live in seemingly tumultuous times wherein we have to decide where our moral compass resides. One of the earlier considerations of this moral compass concerns a figure from some time ago, and largely forgotten today. His name is Brunetto Latini, from the 13th century. I am reminded of him because Kyle mentioned “Gaia” as another distinction of the Being Sophia, which is so paramount of a consideration on this blog, and with good intention.

Brunetto Latini is an important figure to consider in this regard because Rudolf Steiner in his discourses spoke a number of times about him and how he had an experience at a very pivotal moment in his life, a shock to his system, and wherein the very ground from under his feet was removed, and he felt all alone. He underwent a kind of natural initiation, wherein according to his account, and Rudolf Steiner reveals, he met the figure of “the Goddess Natura”. I thought of this when you mentioned ‘Gaia’, and it is really important to consider the various places where Steiner speaks of what Brunetto Latini experienced. He would go on to be the guardian and mentor of Dante, but his own initiation is worth reviewing. On a blog like this it is only possible to point to the relevant material, and then hope for a sign of appreciation, which means continuation is possible. Thus, I give the following reference points, and wherein Steiner’s very last lecture-course in England holds an important place concerning the initiation of Brunetto Latini. Since then, initiation has become more complicated due to the advent of the modern age, but it is still possible.

    https://wn.rsarchive.org/Lectures/search=mode?query=brunetto&mode=context

    1. I was thinking the same thing about Brunetto Latini, but of course he still had an atavistic clairvoyance this Lecture given by Rudolf Steiner, Dornach, January 30th, 1915, GA 161 gives some details on his ‘initiation’. There are also references to Emperor Constantine, the Sibylline Books, Olaf Asteson, & the Maid of Orleans…
But you can look at the karmic Relationships lecture & he comes up a lot. When we were reading these in our study group every time his name came up we would say it with an Italian accent & it became a running joke…So I feel very close to him

    2. Thank you Steve for bringing up Brunetto Latini. Amazing how much he’s mentioned by Steiner. In fact, Hazel, I’m going through the Karmic Relationships lectures at the moment, so I’ll look forward to that!

Yes, Gaia, or the Being Sophia, or as was mentioned the New Isis. Here’s a thought that occurred to me recently, I’m curious about any insight into this:

When we are talking about one’s Karma, and from what I’m understanding of this, is that it is directed from Seraphim, Cherubim, Thrones, that they direct the events and experiences in one’s life – this 1st hierarchy, is that correct? So, let’s look at the Western world now, and all the ‘streams.’ Isn’t it peculiar how many Westerners have been seeking ways ‘back to nature’ – so to speak? You’ll have Westerners who go into the Amazon, commune with plant spirits. This is just an example. But even such societies openly embrace Christ, too – as I’ve seen with the Dyaks (former headhunters) in Borneo… yet, they still believe they are protectors of the trees.

With Nature, the Plant Kingdom, essentially being Etheric.. I just find it rather remarkable we are turning to plants now as new teachers… and especially in learning how to see etherically, whether we are consciously aware of what we are doing, perhaps that impulse is there. And many instances, people claim to see “Her” beyond all of this, or see it all as Her, the plant kingdom… or the essence of Earth itself.

  2. Being someone who lives in a Buddhist country, this is a very appropriate post indeed. Thank you for sharing!

  3. Hi Hazel,

I want to draw attention to a little certain something that you have brought forth today with the imminent Full Moon in Scorpio as the Sun resides in Taurus. Indeed, for a lunar eclipse to occur in the early am on Wednesday is something very important, and just to image it, as you indicate, is enough to know that we are crossing the Rubicon of awareness.

Rudolf Steiner gave a lecture-course here with the specific intention to encourage the overthrowing of the Copernican model of the solar system. In it, he describes the arrangement of the constellations working at right angles today, as we speak. Eventually they come into a square configuration; in this case, Taurus-Scorpio-Leo-Aquarius.

“Now there is a series of constellations that is immediately evident to those who study the outer Universe at night-time, and has indeed always been seen when men have studied the stars. It is what we call the Zodiac. It is immaterial whether we believe in the Ptolemaic or the Copernican system; if we follow the apparent course of the Sun it always seems to pass through the Zodiac in its yearly round. Now if we imagine ourselves placed into the Universe in a living way, we find that the Zodiac is of very great significance. We cannot conceive of any other Plane in celestial space as being of like value with the Zodiac, any more than we could conceive the plane which divides us in two and creates our symmetry, as being placed at random just anywhere. We then perceive the Zodiac as something through which a plane may be described. (Drawing.) Let us suppose this plane to be the plane of the blackboard, so that we have here the plane of the Zodiac; the plane of the Zodiac is just the plane of the blackboard. We shall then have one plane before us in Cosmic space, precisely as we imagined the three planes sketched in Man. That is certainly a plane of which we can say that it is fixed there for us. We see the Sun run its course through the Zodiac; we relate all the phenomena of the heavens to this plane. And we have here an analogy of an extra-human kind for what we must perceive and experience as planes in Man himself. Now when we draw the Symmetry plane in Man, and have on one side of the Symmetry-axis the liver organised in one way, and on the other side the stomach organised in a different way, we cannot think of such a fact without feeling at the same time some inner concrete relation; we cannot imagine mere lines of space lying there, but what is in the space must manifest definite forces of activity; it will not be a matter of indifference whether something is on the right or on the left. In the same way we must imagine that in the organisation of the Universe it is a matter of consequence whether a thing is above or below the Zodiac. We shall begin to think of Cosmic space — as we see it there, sown with stars — we shall begin to think of it as having form.

Now just as we can think of this plane on the blackboard, so we can also think of another at right angles to it. Let us think of a plane extending from the constellation Leo to that of Aquarius on the other side. Then we can go further and imagine a third plane at right angles again to this one, running from Taurus to Scorpio. We have now three planes at right angles to one another in Cosmic space.

These three planes are analogous to the three we have imagined described in Man. If we think of the plane we have denoted as that of Will — the plane namely which separates us behind and before — we have the plane of the Zodiac itself.”

    https://wn.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA201/English/RSP1972/images/manhier0301.png

“If we think of the plane running from Taurus to Scorpio, we have the plane of Thinking; that is, our Thought Plane would be co-ordinated to this plane. And the third plane would be that of Feeling. Thus we have divided Cosmic space by means of three planes, just as we divided Man in our first lecture. What is primarily of importance is not simply to unlearn as quickly as possible the Copernican Cosmic system, but to enter into this concrete picture, to imagine Cosmic space itself so organised that one can distinguish in it three planes at right angles to one another, just as can be done in the case of Man.”

I thought this material could prove to be informative in the early morning hours on Wednesday. You see, I also see a great reset, which is spiritual and not economic. The future is ours to fashion and shape, and my goal is to get the word out wherever I can, and even where it causes enemies, which I have never been able to understand.

    1. Hi Steve, happy to see you here.

Very timely that you mention of Copernicus, for I was just listening to GA130, lecture 7: the mission of Gautama Buddha on Mars – literally a few hours before reading your comment here.

“In no far distant future, however, it will be realised that the view of the world of stars held by Copernicus is much less correct than the earlier, Ptolemaic view. The view of the world held by the school of Copernicus and Kepler is, in many respects, convenient, but as an explanation of the macrocosm it is not the truth.”

      Thank you for sharing!

      1. Hi Kyle,

I was very pleased to see that you found this place. Otherwise, we might have never touched base again due to a certain unfortunate occurrence. Maverick writes here as well, and Hazel has a project that definitely requires a complete reconsideration of the Copernican model. Rudolf Steiner encapsulates it very nicely in the second lecture of GA 202, in which the New Isis seeks to be revealed and known, but is presently constrained by the modern system of astrophysics. As you indicate, Steiner was very consistent in encouraging a refutation of Copernicus in favor of the original Ptolemaic scheme.

I appreciate Hazel Archer Ginsberg very much for this blog and its forum. For example, and she does this all the time, the awareness given at this time in May concerning Wesak as the Buddha trinity of Birth, Enlightenment, and Death surrounding the Full Moon in May makes one see the real implications of a turning point in time. At least, it is a hopeful sign, and I love hopeful signs, even if they come from out of my own egregore. Hazel has channeled a kind of link to what I had expressed to you earlier concerning “Parsifalian Thinking”. As such, it is very much up to the moment on a 24/7 basis.

I am so glad you have joined this group, and we can continue to talk. You will be an essential ingredient here, I am sure.

        1. Well, I’m looking forward to Hazel’s future posts! And, of course, yours and Maverick’s contributions as well. May the learning and growing continue…

I’m wondering if the New Isis, as you mention, has to do with the being of Sophia. Either way, this is new to me. Yet another stream to contemplate further on. But yes, the Copernican cosmological sense can only take us so far. Steiner always illustrated it’s importance, but only for a time. My feeling is that this idea of human expansion is exactly where the Copernican model falls short, as in, we aren’t meant to stuff ourselves in thin metal tubes propelled by rockets into space.. but the journey of the spirit and soul, on it’s own, is limitless and perhaps that is the expansion that should be sought after (well, I would say a definitive ‘yes’). Science without soul is as good as dead, and just leads to further decline.

At any rate, glad to be here!

          1. Greetings Kyle –
The progressive Beings are always evolving & growing… Of course some choose not to progress, they stay behind & become either a retarding force, or adversarial – trying to hold back on the one hand, or rush evolution before its time.

The Sophia, who was according to the Pistis Sophia, a Primal Being that worked with the ‘Master Architect’ in the creation of the All – has been known by many names thru-out the various cultures. We know her as Theosophy & then Philosophy, Natura…etc.

In the ancient Egyptian-3rd post-Atlantean epoch, She was known as Isis. The switch from the Heliocentric world-view to what is referred to as the ‘Copernican revolution’ can be seen as the ‘slaying of Isis’ -Pulling a veil over the truth of the cosmic script as the activity of Spiritual Beings in the fixed & wandering stars.

Humanity had to go thru this phase to develop the intellectual Soul. But that time is over, & now our individuation must bring us to place where, in freedom, we choose not to be anti-social, but strive to begin again to, not only ‘Know Thyself’ -but to consciously re-discover the Spirit behind all life –to practice the Science of the Spirit where ‘Speaking with the Stars’ makes us co-creators – laying the foundations for the time when Isis-Sophia can work thru our purified astral bodies.

Our time now (the 5th post-Atlantean era) is a recapitulation of the 3rd epoch, so we are seeing shadows of that ancient time, decadent energies that miss the mark in this time of the Consciousness soul age. We see the name Isis debased to represent a terrorist group instead of the Wise Divine Feminine Being She is.

But many are now being called to see past the veil – to tear down the illusion of the mechanical abstraction & the lies about gas balls in the sky, to reveal the Spirit once again – this time as fully awake spiritual activists ready to be on the front lines of a new reality that redeems the divine birthright of humanity in the striving to become the 10th Hierarchy of Love & Freedom…

            Welcome to the team

          2. Hazel, thank you for the elaboration on Sophia. I suppose ‘Gaia’ can also fall under the umbrella? Seems many people are experiencing Gaia as an actual entity, even without knowledge of Anthroposophy, are picking up on the impulse – so to speak.

It makes perfect sense as a Master Architect, or Prime Creator, a state of ‘perfection’ where we have been separated from, and thus, experience our individual state, and now looking to find our way back to be connected and at one with the cosmos through the divine Sophia.

I just finished reading the lecture series Fall of the Spirits of Darkness GA177, and on lecture 12 a great diagram shows this kind of separation, although it was more to illustrate the contrasting streams between the spirits of light/darkness.

            https://wn.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA177/English/RSP1993/images/177-1201.gif

I just find the idea of redemption so beautiful, like finding our way home, and finding a seat at the table with other angelic beings – as you mention the 10th hierarchy. But this seems to require a bit of Inspiration/Imagination/Intuition to be able to get there, I would ‘imagine’ – no pun intended. And this points to such figures like Goethe, Novalis, Raphael… to name a few… like they are mapping the way. And we are all cartographers of sorts if we assume that responsibility.

Going back to the lecture I mentioned before (GA177), only because I had just read it, a very important point was made, regarding ‘waking up.’ I’m paraphrasing in my own words, but it’s something of the likes of one person can influence thousands. To think that something as creating art can have such a profound effect, that’s an amazing fact, perhaps along the lines of co-creation, as you put it.

What you’ve mentioned really does feel like the essence of what we all, deep down, are striving for… this ‘light’ impulse (or stream) as opposed to the ‘dark’ impulse of materialism.

Thank you again for all of this, and the warm welcoming here. It really is opening up alot for me. Deeply greatful.

            1. Wow, yes, GA177 is a power house…
Our Wed. study group is working with ‘True & False Path of Spiritual Investagation’ right now.
And our Sunday group is finishing up with the ‘5th Gospel’.
So much to learn from our dear Dr. Steiner a true initiate.

This image of contraction & expansion is always living with me – as you say to go forth & then to find out way back…

May we find grace along the way
