In the Rhythm

Stethoscope & Caduceus
Bamti Novel

So one sees how the physical is a result of what preceded it spiritually and how in particular circumstances people have it in their power, through knowledge of certain relationships, to connect the physical with its spiritual origin. For example, if one knows how a particular illness is connected with particular feelings and emotions, he knows that by calling up these feelings he can also call up the illness. The black magician can make use of this knowledge to destroy the people. The deep occult truths can therefore not be taught to everyone without due consideration, for it would immediately bring about a sharp demarcation between good and evil. This is the danger inherent in the spreading of occult teachings, for no-one can be taught how to make people well, without at the same time learning how to make people ill. Where occult teachings have penetrated more into certain peoples such things have happened. There are districts in the East where one can hear true reports that there are sects who make it their task to produce definite illnesses. Thus we penetrate to an ever greater degree into the understanding of the ways in which the material arises out of the spiritual.’

So what does it mean to call up feelings and emotions…it means to change the rhythm between breath and heart beat – Fear is the acceleration. Love brings a steady calm balance in the rhythm…This is the middle realm of ‘Spirit Sensing’ Where ‘the Christ will encircling us holds sway in world rhythms, bestowing grace upon souls’…

So we see how Powers work together in the world, how everything that appears to oppose the progress of mankind subsequently turns out to be a blessing…For everything in the great world Plan is good and the evil endures only for a season.  Therefore he alone believes in the eternity of the evil who confounds the temporal with the eternal; he who does not rise from the temporal to the eternal can never understand evil. ~Rudolf Steiner, The Deed of Christ and the Opposing Spiritual Powers, March 22, 1909

‘An economic life like the Anglo-American, which should end in world-dominion — if the effort is not made to bring about its permeation by the independent spiritual life and the independent political life, it will flow into the third of the abysses of human life….in the physical realm, illness and death; in the cultural realm, the illness and death of culture.  The Anglo-American world may gain world dominion; but without the Threefold Social Order it will, through this dominion, pour out cultural death and cultural illness over the whole earth; for these are just as much a gift of the Asuras’… ~Rudolf Steiner, Dornach, 15 December 1919

Constellation of the Week – The Three Leaps of the Gazelle This ...

8 April 2020 – “Speaking with the Stars”: High above the Big Dipper late these evenings, nearly crossing the zenith, are three pairs of dim naked-eye stars, marking the Great Bear’s feet. They’re also known as the ‘Three Leaps of the Gazelle’, from early Arab lore. They form a long line roughly midway between the Bowl of the Big Dipper & the Sickle of Leo.

According to the Arabian story, the gazelle was drinking at a pool, ie. the big, dim Coma Berenices star cluster, & bounded away when alerted by a flick of Leo’s nearby tail, Denebola. Leo, however, seems quite unaware; he’s facing the other way.

Bright Comet ATLAS could blaze into view this month. When first sighted during the Holy Nights, on Dec. 28, 2019, the comet was an exceedingly faint object, but it has brightened at an incredibly rapid pace. It is thought to be moving in an orbit virtually identical to the “Great Comet of 1844.” When the comet arrives at perihelion — its closest point to the sun on 31 May 2020 it might rival the planet Venus or even the full moon in brilliance!

Since the head of Atlas, or “coma” is so large, roughly one-third the apparent size of the moon, the comet’s brightness is spread out over a large area, giving it a “ghostly” appearance.

Altas may be a “new” comet originating from the Oort Cloud, a giant repository of comets located far beyond the known limits of our solar system. “New” comets, travel in parabolic orbits because they literally fall from the depths of space toward the sun in a straight line, swing around the sun and are then flung back out into space. Such first-timers have never interacted with the sun before and are covered with very volatile materials such as frozen nitrogen, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide. These ices vaporize far from the sun, giving a distant comet a rapid surge in brightness.

But some folks think Atlas is basically a significant chunk broken off the comet of 1844 probably during the sunward bound leg of that comet’s journey some centuries ago.

“What is approaching the sun now, is a modest-size piece of cometary ice and dust with a large freshly exposed portion of surface; one that’s never seen the sun, it may not be large enough to survive perihelion passage.”

In other words, there’s a chance that Comet Atlas might completely disintegrate when it arrives at the sun’s vicinity at the end of May. On a positive note, its path through the constellations will continue to be very favorable for Northern Hemisphere observers as it will remain circumpolar — always remaining above the horizon. As darkness falls, it will be positioned more than halfway up in the north-northwest sky. The comet currently resides within the boundaries of Camelopardalis, the giraffe — a rather dim, shapeless star pattern. There it will stay right on through April.

Comets are notoriously unpredictable. We can only guess how bright it will get and how long its prospective tail might be. If we are lucky, we might have a conveniently visible comet in the western evening twilight by mid-May.

Rudolf Steiner’s Lectures on this day

ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY

Those who work with the original indications in the Calendar of the Soul know that Rudolf Steiner lists the birth & death days, as well as other significant occurrences of various individualities, along with the Full & New Moons in the calendar.  He said of this: “What is presented here can be useful to those who wish to follow the path of humanity’s spiritual development” ~Rudolf Steiner

1820 – The Venus de Milo is discovered on the Aegean island of Milos. Created sometime between 130 & 100 BCE, it depicts Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love & beauty (Venus to the Romans). From an inscription that was on its plinth, it is thought to be the work of Alexandros of Antioch

1835 – Death Day of Wilhelm von Humbolt  Prussian philosopher, diplomat, founded University of Belin.

According to T.H. Meyer, on this day in 1928, Ludwig Polzer-Hoditz had an experience that brought to the surface one of his past incarnations as Hadrian, 76 AD – 10 July, 138 AD, who was Roman emperor from 117 to 138. He is known for building Hadrian’s Wall, which marked the northern limit of Britannia. He also rebuilt the Pantheon and constructed the Temple of Venus and Roma. He is considered to have been a humanist, & he is regarded as one of the ‘Five Good Emperors’.

Hadrian was born into a Hispano-Roman family. During his reign, he traveled to nearly every province of the Empire. An ardent admirer of Greece, he sought to make Athens the cultural capital of the Empire and ordered the construction of many opulent temples in the city. He used his relationship with his Greek lover Antinous to underline his love of Greek culture leading to the creation of one of the most popular cults of ancient times. He spent extensive amounts of time with the military; he usually wore military attire and even dined and slept amongst the soldiers. Late in his reign he suppressed the Bar Kokhba revolt in Judaea, renaming the province Syria Palaestina.

Ludwig Polzer-Hoditz, who we know as being one of Rudolf Steiner’s most valued & independent-minded colleagues. He was born in Prague to an aristocratic family with royal connections. Leaving behind his background traditions, he became a key player in Steiner’s regenerative threefold social impulses, working tirelessly for a genuinely unified, free Europe.

1952 – U.S. President Harry Truman calls for the seizure of all domestic steel mills to prevent a nationwide strike

1973 – Deathday of Pablo Picasso, Spanish painter & sculptor

Greetings friends – The Central Regional Council welcomes you to a Zoom Study Group Meeting on the Karma of Epidemics

April 8th 2020, 7:15 pm CST

“Imagine a people which was composed entirely of liars, the astral plane would be populated solely by the corresponding demons and these demons would be able to express themselves in a constitutional tendency to epidemics. Thus there is a certain species of bacilli who are the carriers of infectious diseases; these beings are the progeny of the lies told by human beings; they are nothing else than physically embodied demons generated by lies.” (GA 99 – L.6)

May Hope Spring Eternal –

The CRC – Marianne Fieber, Alberto Loya, Hazel Archer-Ginsberg, David Howerton, Lisa Dalton

When out of world-wide spaces
The sun speaks to the human mind,
And gladness from the depths of soul
Becomes, in seeing, one with light,
Then rising from the sheath of self,
Thoughts soar to distances of space
And dimly bind
The human being to the spirit’s life.

Hazel, there is no way that Saturn could even be close to Regulus in Leo on this date. Yet, check out bright Venus, which is actually Mercury (our luck star).
