Retro-Square

Pollution ensoleillée Painting by Romuald Canas Chico | Artmajeur

Sol, is slanting its waning light at an oblique angle, to glow hazy red in the dusk, as if filtered by the black earth. This twilight resonates with the deepest parts of our soul. “There is life beyond death”. This is what the Sun tells us, as it goes through the sign of Scorpio.

Foggy Path - PALETTE KNIFE Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov Painting by Leonid Afremov

The golden leaves on the trees begin to plummet & rot. Shrouded in a thick fog, Nature falls prey to an illusion of sleep. Our animal self feels the dull lethargy, as our vital forces diminish. Yet in the mist we can feel the echo of an ancient time when the curtain of the senses had not yet blinded us .

Inner Light 2 Drawing by Phil Vance

Have we turned on our inner light? Does our lamp have enough oil to make it thru the season? Are we rekindling the spiritual flame within?

Time of Long Shadows Painting by Bobbie O'Toole | Artmajeur

We all know the shadows are extensive now. They are rising quickly from the after-image of last Spring. The specter of a longer lockdown looms over us. And the fear of contagion is being renewed. So our questions must be anything but abstract or rhetorical. Before Mercury leaves Retrograde, we get to confront the lengthening shadows. And the transit of the Sun thru Scorpio reaffirms this mission.

Mercury Square Saturn Natal and Transit: Pay Attention to What Matters

The first half of November, the time of All Souls, is going to be very interesting. On Election Tuesday, November 3rd Mercury is going to turn direct again in Libra, the sign of the scales; but friends, we are not off the hook yet, because Mercury the Trickster will be performing for the whole week in a square with Saturn.

This aspect is a seat of inner tensions. Yet squares can drive us to succeed. What begins as an inner problem is overcome or accepted, & then becomes a door to understanding.

Occult Fundamentals 011: Mercury |

It is important to understand that Mercury rules the reasoning mind which forms conclusions. Mercury is intellectual, enjoys learning, teaches & is communicative.

Chronos – november child

Saturn rules stability & responsibility. It is disciplined & cautious. Saturn rules the ‘father’, limitations & authority figures. This is the classic placement for the narrow-minded world-view – a strict adherence to the law, going only by letter. The demand for order at all costs & there is no room for negotiating.

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is mercury-retrograde.gif

But when the messenger of the gods turns around, we can expect this second stationary point of Mercury to be the most intense of the retrograde period. This means that the first week of November is going to intensify—but also end—the essential part of the Shadow Work for the month.

May we ride the corona-coaster with grace

Calendar of the Soul by Rudolf Steiner, Translated by Roy Sadler

The best way to date the Soul Calendar outside Easter’s Bella Luna time
is for the birth of the Spirit Child in verse 38 to be always at Christmas.
The Celtic festival of the Wise Woman at Samhain [‘Summer’s End’]
would then usually be celebrated during this week’s verse, 30,
but this year not till next Sunday, November’s Halloween time.
v30,
In sunlight of my soul,
ripe fruits of thought arise;
all feeling turns to sureness
of self-awareness.
I joy to sense
the autumn’s rousing of the spirit;
within me will the winter wake
the summer of the soul.

Its mirror verse, 23, of imaginative consciousness
has changed after Michaelmas to a more inspired one.
The sun can now begin to shine and resound
during our earthly day as the sun of the soul.
Before the Equinox it was what the medieval Rosicrucians
called “the unlawful prince of this world”.
v23,
In autumn haze
the senses’ lure fades;
a mist arising veils
the light’s revealing.
In widths of space I see
the autumn landscape fall asleep;
the summer’s yielded me her being
for me to reap.

This week’s opposite verse for the southern hemisphere
portrays the Beltane [‘bright fire’] marriage for the Bride,
the second of the four Celtic feminine fire festivals,
v4,
I feel the essence of my being,
speaks feeling that perceives
and in the sunlit world unites
with all that shines;
it would endow illumined thought
with warmth,
and marry Man and World.

1806 – Birthday of Max Stirner, a German post-Hegelian philosopher, dealing mainly the notion of social alienation & self-consciousness. Stirner is often seen as one of the forerunners of nihilism, existentialism, psychoanalytic theory, postmodernism & individualist anarchism. In his book ‘The Ego And Its Own’, Stirner launches a radical anti-authoritarian critique of contemporary western society.

In the time of spirits thoughts grew till they overtopped my head, whose offspring they yet were; they hovered about me and convulsed me like fever-phantasies – an awful power. The thoughts had become corporeal on their own account, were ghosts, e. g. God, Emperor, Pope, Fatherland, etc. If I destroy their corporeity, then I take them back into mine, and say: “I alone am corporeal.” And now I take the world as what it is to me, as mine, as my property; I refer all to myself.”

& Special Guests

Soul to Soul’ Festival with the Central Regional Council & Special Guests 1pm – 3pm CDT (2pm – 4pm EDT) All Hallows Eve, Saturday October 31st, 2020

Every culture has a festival celebrating their Beloved Dead. For deep in our bones we know that those who have passed through the gates of death want to work with us on the physical world, reminding us that everything physical is an outer expression of spirit.

During this time of year the veils between the worlds are thin, and the spiritual realm beckons. Having put the iron will of Michael to work in our thinking, we now have the courage to look beyond the veil of the material world into the spirit realm, the place of our beginning and our ending, only to begin again and yet again…for every ending is a new beginning.

We will open with some poetry and music played by Carol Kelly, followed by an enactment of an original script by Hazel Archer-Ginsberg, based on indications from Spiritual Science.

We will go into small breakout groups to explore the theme: “Who do you want to be in the new year”.
