14 March 2019 – “Speaking with the Stars”: First-quarter Moon; exact at 5:27 am. After dark you’ll see Bella Luna in the feet of Gemini, high over Orion & just above the top of Orion’s very dim club.

Mercury reaches inferior conjunction, passing between the Sun & Earth, at 9 pm CDT. Since The Messenger of the gods is so much smaller, we will not experience an eclipse, but it has the same energy, blocking a portion of the Sun’s mediating rays to affect communications. The innermost planet will return to view before dawn at the end of March.

1681 – Birthday of Georg Philipp Telemann, a German Baroque composer & multi-instrumentalist. Almost completely self-taught in music, he became a composer against his family’s wishes. He held important positions in Leipzig, Sorau, Eisenach,& Frankfurt before settling in Hamburg in 1721, where he became musical director of the city’s five main churches. While Telemann’s career prospered, his personal life was always troubled: his first wife died only a few months after their marriage, & his second wife had extramarital affairs & accumulated a large gambling debt before leaving Telemann.

Telemann was one of the most prolific composers in history & was considered by his contemporaries to be one of the leading German composers of the time—he was compared favorably both to his friend Johann Sebastian Bach, who made Telemann the godfather & namesake of his son Carl Philipp Emanuel, & to George Frideric Handel, whom Telemann also knew personally. He remained at the forefront of all new musical tendencies & his music is an important link between the late Baroque & early Classical styles

1790 – Birthday of Ludwig Emil Grimm, a German painter, art professor, etcher & copper engraver. His brothers were the well-known folklorists Jacob & Wilhelm Grimm

1804 – Birthday of Johann Strauss I, an Austrian Romantic composer. He was famous for his waltzes, & he popularized them alongside Joseph Lanner, thereby setting the foundations for his sons to carry on his musical dynasty. His most famous piece is the Radetzky March

1867 – Birthday of Marie Steiner von Sivers – born into an aristocratic family in Włocławek, Poland, then part of Russia. She was well-educated, fluent in Russian, German, English, French & Italian. She studied theater & recitation with several teachers in Europe.

Marie von Sivers “appeared one day” at one of Rudolf Steiner’s early lectures in 1900. In the autumn of 1901, she posed the question to Steiner, “Would it be possible to create a spiritual movement based on European tradition and the impetus of Christ?” Rudolf Steiner later reported: With this, I was given the opportunity to act in a way that I had only previously imagined. The question had been put to me, and now, according to spiritual laws, I could begin to answer it.

Marie Steiner-von Sivers & Rudolf Steiner were married on Christmas eve 1914, & she was one of his closest colleagues. Marie von Sivers collaborated with Steiner for the rest of his life & carried his work beyond his death in 1925 until her own death in 1948. She accompanied him & helped him as secretary, translator, editor, & organizer of his lecture tours & other public activities. She assisted Steiner’s work with her own resources & in 1908 founded the Philosophical-Theosophical Press (later Philosophical-Anthroposophical) to publish Steiner’s work

She made a great contribution to the development of anthroposophy, particularly in her work on the renewal of the performing arts (eurythmy, speech & drama), & the editing & publishing of Rudolf Steiner’s literary estate.

Starting in 1912, the art of eurythmy was developed by Rudolf Steiner. Under Marie Steiner-von Sivers’ guidance, it developed in three directions, as a stage art, as an integral part of Waldorf pedagogy, & as a therapeutic method. Under her tutelage, two schools of eurythmy were founded, in Berlin & in Dornach, Switzerland.

Marie von Sivers was trained in recitation & elocution & made a study of purely artistic speaking. She gave introductory poetry recitals at Steiner’s lectures & assisted him in the development of the 4 Mystery Dramas (1910–1913). With her help, Steiner conducted several speech & drama courses with the aim of raising these forms to the level of true art. Ms Steiner died on December 27th 1948

1883 – Deathday of Karl Marx. Rudolf Steiner revealed that Marx was a landowner in Northern France in the early 9th century, & that one day his property was seized by a rival. Marx was then forced to work under the new owner of his former property. The new owner reincarnated as Friedrich Engels, who embarked on a compensatory cooperation with his former rival. So it is that old impulses of destiny may work on in a new incarnation. No wonder that Marx became a fierce enemy of all private property, having himself experienced in a previous life how insecure the private ownership of property can become. Those seeking deeper insight into this historic-karmic background of Marx & Engels & their activities are referred to Steiner’s lecture of 6 April 1924. GA 236.

The Anthroposophic Movement FOREWORD BY MARIE STEINER

“…It behoves us to come to self-recollection. Let us make ourselves out no better than we are. There is no need for shame-faced concealment of our faults; on the contrary; out of their darkness we must evoke the light that brings self-knowledge. Communal consciousness is hard to be won. The common ‘I’ can only grow up strong and firm amongst us on a soil of vigorous wakefulness, of will to active knowledge, of courage for truth. These things are not to be achieved in solitude and secrecy; they must be fought for and won in community. Honest mutual struggles will do us no harm, will gain us the respect of all well-wishers. And ill-wishers may look back and reflect what the Church went through and displayed in its communal life, notwithstanding all the strict discipline imposed from without; and what imperfections, what contradictions to its own ideals had there to be worked out in life! It will then be seen, that it is not the leader, not he who gives the impulse to a movement, who must be held responsible for the faults in the disciples of his doctrine, but the Species Homo, which needs many round-about roads and much rising and falling and oft-renewed climbing, before it can attain at last to its goal.

Anthroposophy is a way of education. The Anthroposophical Society certainly presents no model institute for the living demonstration of anthroposophic ideals. One might even say that in many respects it is a nursing-home; as is of course very natural in an age of sick and sorry humanity. There flock to it the halt and maimed of life, those crippled under the burden of the age. May we only have nursing-homes for the physically diseased? Is it not right, that there should be places, where human-beings may spiritually get upon their feet again? And this came to pass here in abundance. Letters there were in more than plenty and words of overflowing gratitude from people testifying, that through Anthroposophy and its Teacher they first had learnt to find life again worth living. — For people to find Anthroposophy, however, there had to be a society, where the work was carried on.

And so the Anthroposophical Society was a workshop; and a vast amount of work was done in it. Anthroposophy found means to bring fruit into all the branches of life, artistic, scientific, and practical, too. During the worst times of economic crisis, anthroposophists were very largely unsuccessful in carrying out what they had as an ideal in sight; but they had doubly strong obstacles to contend with. One must remember, that the people who flocked into the Society, and started working outwardly when the Society already had a name and stood for something in the world, were people as the modern age has made them, not as the ideal of Anthroposophy would have them be; and so there were many, unquestionably, who succumbed again to the temptations and the practices of the day.

The young people who had been disappointed with their experiences in the organized ‘Youth-Movements’ and by what they failed to find there, not Only found here an answer to the problems that perplexed them, and not only sought to satisfy their aspirations in this new community Anthroposophy, but they also brought their own habits into the Society, — including much that they might have left behind them, to start in Anthroposophy afresh.

And so the Anthroposophical Society cannot yet be a model institute; it remains a place of education. — But does not mankind need places of education too, in the wider human sense, if it is to move onwards to a better future?

Turn the question then which way we will, the Society is a necessity. It must educate itself; and it must afford the possibility of being a place of education for humankind. The life-forces that have been laid in it, have strength to perform this work, if people come together in it who are strong and capable and devoted, — people who know, that they must join together to work as a community for humankind in a larger sense, not to shut themselves off and indulge only in self-culture, — who know, that it would be but a thankless return to take what is given as a saving anchor for oneself alone; who know, that one takes with it also the obligation to pass this anchor on to others whose life’s ship is in distress.

6th Century – Death-Day of Pope Gregory the Great: “Non Angli, sed angeli” – “They are not Angles, but angels”.

1312 – Abolition of the order of Knights Templar –

Vox in excelso is the name of a Papal Bull issued by Pope Clement V in 1312. The directives were to formally dissolve the Order of the Knights Templar, effectively removing Papal support for them & revoking the mandates given to them by previous popes in the 12th & 13th centuries.

“In view of the suspicion, infamy, loud insinuations and other things which have been brought against the other … and also the secret and clandestine reception of the brother of this Order; in view, moreover, of the serious scandal which has arisen from these things, which it did not seem could be stopped while the Order remained in being, and the danger to faith and souls, and the many horrible things which have been done by the very many of the brothers of this Order, who have lapsed into the sin of wicked apostasy, the crime of detestable idolatry, and the execrable outrage of the Sodomites … it is not without bitterness and sadness of heart that we abolish the aforesaid Order of the Temple, and its constitution, habit and name, by an irrevocable and perpetually valid decree; and we subject it to perpetual prohibition with the approval of the Holy Council, strictly forbidding anyone to presume to enter the said Order in the future, or to receive or wear its habit, or to act as a Templar.” — Vox in excelso

The issue of this Bull followed a five-year period of suppression & trials of the Templars during which time they were accused of a variety of blasphemous & heretical crimes. However, the confessions were extracted with the use of torture & other methods developed by the Inquisition.

Initially, the Knights Templar faced criticism from some religious leaders. But in 1129, the group received the formal endorsement of the Catholic Church & support from Bernard of Clairvaux, a prominent French abbot.

In 1139, Pope Innocent II issued a Papal Bull that allowed the Knights Templar special rights. Among them, the Templars were exempt from paying taxes, permitted to build their own oratories, & held to no one’s authority, except the Pope’s.

The Knights Templar set up a prosperous network of banks & gained enormous financial influence. Their banking system allowed religious pilgrims to deposit assets in their home countries & withdraw funds in the Holy Land.

The order became known for its austere code of conduct & signature style of dress, which featured a white habit emblazoned with a simple red cross.

Members swore an oath of poverty, chastity & obedience. Prayer was essential to their daily life, & the Templars expressed particular adoration for the Virgin Mary.

As the Knights Templar grew in size & status, it established new chapters throughout Western Europe.

At the height of their influence, the Templars boasted a sizable fleet of ships, owned the Mediterranean island of Cyprus, & served as a primary bank &lending institution to European monarchs & nobles.

The Fall of Acre in 1291 marked the destruction of the last remaining Crusader refuge in the Holy Land. European support of the military campaigns in the Holy Land began to erode over the decades that followed. Additionally, many secular & religious leaders became increasingly critical of the Templars’ wealth & power.

By 1303, the Knights Templar lost its foothold in the Muslim world & established a base of operations in Paris. There, King Philip IV of France resolved to bring down the order, perhaps because the Templars had denied the indebted ruler additional loans.

On Friday, October 13, 1307, scores of French Templars were arrested, including the order’s grand master Jacques de Molay. Many of the knights were brutally tortured until they confessed to false charges, which included heresy, homosexuality, financial corruption, devil worshipping, fraud, spitting on the cross & more.

A few years later, dozens of Templars were burned at the stake in Paris for their confessions. De Molay was executed in 1314.

Under pressure from King Philip, Pope Clement V reluctantly dissolved the Knights Templar TODAY 12 March 1312. The group’s property & monetary assets were taken by King Philip & King Edward II of England, seizing most of the Knights Templar’s wealth.

A continuing conversation on the “True” Easter:

As we know the ‘Calendar of the Soul’ starts with Easter Sunday, Verse #1.  The Goetheanum has chosen to start the Calendar of the Soul Year with 24 March 2019, in alignment with the spiritual scientific research of Rudolf Steiner.

The cosmic dance is fluid, which is why Easter is a ‘Moveable Feast’. Steiner’s indications invite us to participate in this Cosmic & Earthly ‘Turning point of Time’. The man-made church calendar adheres to a template which no longer reflects the true nature of the stars, & yet, since it represents the concept of  ‘Time’, within the eternally shifting nature of ‘Space’, it offers us the opportunity to do the work of purifying our etheric body, where the mysteries of Time, & Rhythm are tantamount to achieving what Steiner calls ‘Life-Spirit’.

Perhaps this was why Rudolf Steiner focused on the significance of the etheric body, in his ‘Easter, Young Doctors Course’, & in the lecture ‘The Easter Festival in the Evolution of the Mysteries’ as well as giving the eurythmy forms for the Foundation Stone Meditation, at the time of the 1924 ‘Easter paradox’. Although when he spoke to the workers around the time of the Cosmic Easter of 1924, in “Star Wisdom, Moon Religion, Sun Religion” he emphasized the astral aspect.

The Sun, Moon & Earth in relation to the Zodiac, a division in Space, invites us to do the work of purifying our astral body, in the striving to achieve ‘Spirit-Self’, where the mysteries of ‘Space’, which the Fixed Stars of the Zodiac represent, come into play.

So this year we have an opportunity to grow the seeds of BOTH Manas & Buddhi, in the evolution of our True future Selves, NOW!

~Blessings Friends, Let’s continue to keep the conversation living ~Hazel Archer-Ginsberg

Ross Rentea MD & The Kolisko Team will be taking up “seed germination experiments on these two dates (March 24 and April 21), and will also compare water coming from natural Springs on these two Sundays. These experiments will be important not only to shed light on this question of the so called ‘Easter paradox’, which incidentally will not occur again until 2038, but also to make the attempt to demonstrate whether “Easter water” as such has an easily observable effect that can be used in the improvement of the making of anthroposophical medicines.”

In relation to the work of Lili Kolisko cited in my last missive, during the ‘Easter Paradox’ date in 1943: “The iron sulphate, gold cromide or silver nitrate, are photographic emulsions. And each prominent metal in solution acts with other minerals found in the plant solutions. Lili was studying conditions that improve or devitalize a plant. She developed color code with litmus paper, identifying mineral color & tone, brought out by different metals interacting with silver or gold or iron etc. The vitality of a plant would rise in the paper, and wonderfully paint, , its own story. These pictures are called Capillary Dymalisis pictures, and today by some are called “upward streaming pictures”. Both Lili Kolisko and Dr. Rudolf Steiner were interested in the vital streamings, like veil paintings on fire or some in cases blobs, which were revealed in the work. Disease to cosmic influences were deduced from behaviors of capillary action in the soaked upward streaming of solutions”. ~ Shared by Broad Knight

Contribution $25-$50 or pay what you can afford, ALL proceeds donated to APO.

2019 marks the reinstatement of Ita Wegman and Elisabeth Vreede back into the General Anthroposophical Society after 84 years.  This 12×7 combination is a very important number combination in microcosmic and macrocosmic dynamics.  Their return from banishment is only a first step in healing the karma of our organization and embracing the ongoing leadership of Rudolf Steiner into the future.  Long standing and exacerbating problems have ensued since the ouster of these two leading lights chosen esoterically by Rudolf Steiner.

It is essential and imperative in our time to reconcile and forge harmony with these and other members on both sides of the threshold so that anthroposophy can flourish.

Sergei Prokofieff through his research tells us that all the original Executive Council members were chosen representatives and archetypes of the different and divergent karmic streams that came together under the direction of Rudolf Steiner for the esoteric tasks required well into the future.

The birth and development of the New Mysteries that was initiated at the Christmas Conference at the end of 1923 called on the free and active participation of these individuals.

On many occasions Rudolf Steiner called on each member of the Anthroposophical Society to uncover and research the spirituals stream for which he/she came to earth.  Then, in order to heal the individual and group karma of the General Anthroposophical Society, members were urged to reach out to members of conflicting spiritual streams, so as to find ways to harmonize the conflicts.

In our time, these steps in self and social development are essential as we seek future work together for the development of humanity.

MARCH in like a lion…Out like a lamb

March is abundant with ‘Holy Days’, finding voice through many cultural expressions.

Today, 6 March 2019, is the New Moon in Aries.

Every year our circadian rhythms are challenged by daylight savings time comes on Sunday March 10th  so don’t forget to spring ahead!

Image result for ides of march

The 15th is the famous Ides of March; which we all know is the day Julius Caesar was warned by the soothsayers to beware; the day he was assassinated. But did you know that according to the ancient Roman calendar, the Ides of March was considered New Year’s Day, & marked the 1st day of Spring?

Image result for st. patrick

March 17, brings us the ‘wearing of the green’ for St. Patrick’s Day. This former pagan used the shamrock to teach folks about the Trinity.

And this year it is also the True Palm Sunday. (To read all about the TRUE EASTER for 2019 check out: A Cosmic Wake Up Call: The True Date of Easter 2019)

On the 20th of March we experience the Vernal Equinox, The Full Spring Moon and it also happens to be Purim, and the Iranian New Year celebration, Norooz, or ‘New Day’.

In 622 AD, Mohammed led his followers from Mecca to Medina to escape assassination. According to the story, when his pursuers reached the cave where Mohammed and his followers had taken shelter for the night, they found a dove nesting in front of it and the entrance covered by a spider’s web. So the pursuers passed on, leaving them in peace. Mohammed continued on to Medina, where he and his followers were able to worship freely. Muslims consider this flight — or Hijrah — to be the beginning of their calendar year. People worship quietly on this day, which begins with the 1st sighting of the moon, and in keeping with the rebirth of nature is also considered the 1st day of Spring.

Here on this side of the globe we call it the Spring or Vernal Equinox, also known as: Alban Eilir, Eostar, Ostara, and the Rites of Spring – when the Sun entered 2000 years ago the 1st sign of fiery Aries, but now because of the Precession of The Equinoxes, the Vernal Sun now rises in Pisces!

Day and night are equal, poised and balanced, but about to tip over to the side of light. It is sacred to the twilight time of dawn, youth, the morning star and the east. The Saxon goddess, Eostre (from whose name we get the direction East and the holiday Easter) is a dawn goddess, like Aurora and Eos. Just as the dawn is the time of new light, so the vernal equinox is the time of new life.

Image result for full moon Spring equinox 2019

What does it mean that this year the Equinox falls on a Full Moon?

The Equinox is all about harmony and balance – that brief yet eternal time of equilibrium, when day & night are of equal length. In the fall, the darkness holds sway, but now for the spring season the light is triumphant.

What a perfect opportunity to tap into this celestial energy as it intersects our earthly ecliptic, a perfect opportunity to bring balance into our lives, harmony into our bodies.

We all have a mixture of yin & yang, darkness & light, female & male energies within us. Do they both have equal say? Or is one force overshadowing the other? Perhaps we are consciously putting more emphasis on one, to help develop that side, or maybe we just feel unbalanced & we don’t know why? Are we thinking too much, are we too sensitive, too busy doing, to just be? Is your left side tighter or looser than your right? Which side do you part your hair? Ah ha…! These are questions only you can answer for your Self.

On a Full Moon the Sun & Moon are in direct opposition, complimenting each other.

This year Purim, which is celebrated this year on the Full Moon, March 20-21, 2019, is a joyful spring holiday that features a festive meal, gift-giving, costumes, and noisemakers. The word “Purim” means “lots,” and refers to Haman’s casting of lots in the story of Esther. It is customary to hold carnival-like celebrations. Americans sometimes refer to Purim as the Jewish Mardi Gras.

Since Easter can be seen written in the Starry Script, determined by an alignment of Sun, Moon & Earth – always celebrated after the 1st Full Moon after the Vernal Equinox, Holy Week begins on 17 March, with Easter Sunday falling on 24 March 2019! ( for more see A Cosmic Wake Up Call: The True Date of Easter 2019)

Image result for Annunciation of Mary with Gabriel famous painting

Two other holidays also get mixed up in this ancient symbolism of Spring’s fertility. March 25th is called the ‘Annunciation of Mary.’ – the day that the Angel Gabriel announced that Mary, the Christian version of The Sophia, was pregnant with the son of god ; who is born 9 months later, on Dec. 25th. How’s that for a nice little spring fertility symbol.

Image result for March is International Women’s month

It is also fitting that March is International Women’s month, since this is the time of the rebirth of nature. It’s a gentle reminder that we give birth to the future. The future is in our hands, the hands of the midwife, the lap of the mother, and the hands of the Peacemaker.

So let’s honor ourselves & thank the powers of love & light, knowing, March may come in like a lion, but it goes out like a lamb – As we re-conceive of ourselves in alignment with the powers of Spring…

Peace & Blessed Bee…

A Cosmic Wake Up Call: The True Date of Easter 2019

We know that Easter is determined by a cosmic alignment of Sun, Moon & Earth. 1st the Sun must come into its place of balance at the Vernal Equinox. Then the Sun waits for the Moon to come into Fullness, so that the rays of the Springtime Sun can be reflected to us on Earth. The Moveable Feast of Easter then arrives on the 1st Sun-day after, which brings earthly humanity into connection with the Sun-forces.

This year, the Spring Equinox is at 4:58 pm CDT on March 20th.   The Full Moon also comes on March 20th, about 4 hours later, at 8:43 pm.  By these calculations, the 1st Sunday after is, March 24th. So this, my friends, is the true date of Easter Sunday for 2019.

But if you look on the internet or on the ‘Official’ Church Calendar, it says Easter is April 21st 2019!

Dear Friends, This is extremely important! We must vigorously apply what we know to be true & not take anything at face value. It is so easy to be asleep & miss these powerful opportunities to be in cosmic alignment.

Every year, humanity has a responsibility to Consciously Resurrect this ‘Turning Point of Time’ in our Thinking, Feeling & Willing, to participate in Christ’s deed which planted the seed of our redemption from the fall, which we must cultivate!

If we sleep thru this opportunity, the death forces will strengthen.

Dr. Lilli Kolisko established important scientific documentation on this very subject, following initial indications given by Rudolf Steiner.

In 1943, Easter fell shortly after the equinox, on March28th. The Church authorities in England had ruled that the Easter Full Moon should be considered to be a month later & that the festival should be celebrated on April 25th 1943, Even though the Royal Astronomer maintained that the earlier date was correct.

Lili Kolisko discovered through her experiments the true cosmic reality. Every day she repeated her experiments.  She showed that one can obtain a picture of life-force activity with solutions of minerals representing key planetary forces –such as Silver Nitrate, Iron Sulphate or Gold Chloride, displaying colors & forms which reveal the invisible etheric forces working on earth or in plants in specific ways & at specific times. On Sunday March 28th 1943, an enhanced form & color appeared.  On the Church authorities’ preferred date of April 25th there was no difference from the pattern of any other day.

A similar strengthening of the etheric forces was revealed on the true Whitsun-tide date, six weeks after the real March 28th 1943 Easter.

You can read the full documented research here: (Many thanks to Patricia Kaminski for sharing this link)

Below is a powerful quote from Rudolf Steiner reminding us not to be blinded by the materialism that wants to keep us bound to the earth:

The Easter Festival, is intended to remind us of an event whose significance lies, not merely within the course of earth-evolution, but within the whole world-order into which humanity has been placed. Therefore the time of the Easter festival must not be determined by ordinary earthly conditions; it is a time that can be ascertained only when the human being turns their thoughts to the worlds beyond the earth. And there is deeper meaning still in this plan of a movable time for the Easter festival. It indicates how through the Christ Impulse humanity is to be set free from the forces of earth-evolution pure and simple. For through knowledge of that which is beyond the earth, humanity is to become free of the evolution of the earth, and this truth is indicated in the manner of dating the Easter festival. It contains a call to the human being to lift himself up to the worlds beyond the earth; it contains a promise to humanity that in the course of world-history it shall be possible for him, through the working of the Christ Impulse, to become free of earthly conditions.

The time has come when humanity must realise with full and clear consciousness that supersensible knowledge has now to arise out of the grave of the materialistic outlook. For together with supersensible knowledge will arise the knowledge of Christ Jesus. In point of fact, man has no other symbol that fits the Easter festival than this — that mankind has brought upon itself the doom of being crucified upon the cross of its own materialism. But man must do something himself before there arises from the grave of human materialism all that can come from supersensible knowledge.

The very striving after supersensible knowledge is itself an Easter deed, it is something which gives man the right once more to keep Easter. Look up to the full moon and feel how the full moon is connected with man in its phenomena, and how the reflection of the sun is connected with the moon, and then meditate on the need today to go in search of a true self-knowledge which can show forth man as a reflection of the supersensible. If man knows himself to be a reflection of the supersensible, if he recognises how he is formed and constituted out of the supersensible, then he will also find the way to come to the supersensible.

The truth is, we are to-day living in a time when Christ Jesus is being crucified in a very special sense. He is being put to death in the field of knowledge. And until men come to see how the present way of knowledge, clinging as it does to the senses and to them alone, is nothing but a grave of knowledge out of which a resurrection must take place — until they see this, they will not be able to lift themselves up to experiences in thought and feeling that partake of a true Easter character.”

Dear friends, with these truths in mind, I am changing our Festival programing. We will begin our Holy Week Study, exploring Kaspar Hauser, on the True Palm Sunday March 17th 2019, 2 pm – 4pm,

We continue Holy Monday thru Holy Saturday, March 18-23, from 7 pm – 9 pm,

& on the True Easter Sunday March 24th 2019, from 2 pm – 4 pm, our Festival will revolve around The ‘Golden Legend’ & The ‘Rose Cross Meditation’.

For our study we will take up: ‘Kaspar Hauser: The Struggle for the Spirit’ by Anthroposophical researcher Peter Tradowsky. I have ordered copies to be given out on a 1st come basis at cost: $23

We are also re-scheduling Fred Janney’s workshop: Anthroposophy: What Ails Thee’ to Saturday 6 April 2019, from 7 pm – 9 pm, & Sunday 7 April, 2019, from 1 pm – 4 pm

Since Easter-Tide also includes Ascension & Whitsun, these Feast Days will be celebrated on Ascension Thursday May 2nd 2019, 7 pm – 9 pm, with Whitsunday on May 12th 2019, which is on Mother’s Day so we may not do a Festival (Let me know what you think?)

Please Contact me with any questions

Before the Mystery of Golgotha, the task of evolution was for the spirit to become human; after the ‘turning point’, humanity must strive to become spirit; co-creators in freedom, of ‘The New Sun’.

May we awaken to the True Dawning of our Human Calling.

AD 51 – Nero, later to become Roman emperor, is given the title princeps iuventutis (head of the youth)

1678 – Birthday of Antonio Vivaldi, an Italian, Baroque musical composer, virtuoso violinist, teacher, & priest. Born in Venice, the capital of the Venetian Republic, he is regarded as one of the greatest Baroque composers, & his influence during his lifetime was widespread across Europe. He composed many instrumental concertos, as well as sacred choral works & more than forty operas. His best-known work is a series of violin concertos known as the Four Seasons.

Many of his compositions were written for the all-female music ensemble of the Ospedale della Pietà, a home for abandoned children. Vivaldi had worked there as a Catholic priest.

After meeting the Emperor Charles VI, Vivaldi moved to Vienna, hoping for royal support. However, the Emperor died soon after Vivaldi’s arrival, & Vivaldi himself died, in poverty, less than a year later.

1868 – Birthday of Harry Collison, the 1st General Secretary of the British Anthroposophical Society. In his early days Collison was a Freemason & Theosophist, he founded a group called the ‘Myrdhin’ Group, which was then renamed the ‘Zarathustra’ Group, at the suggestion of Rudolf Steiner.

Collison translated many of Steiner’s works into English, & was involved with the arrangements for many summer conferences held at Oxford, feathering ‘eurhythmy’ in the hall of Keble College.I n 1914 Collison arranged for several performers from Dornach to visit the UK & demonstrate the art to the study groups. The performers were Lori Maier-Smits, her younger sister Ada, Elisabeth Dollfus & Flossy von Sonklar. His exposure to eurhythmy had begun the previous year, when he had participated in the premier of f Steiner’s mystery play, The Soul’s Awakening, put on in Munich. Collison was one of the gnomes.

Even with his heavy involvement with Anthroposophy from 1910, Collison did not give up his artistic interest; in fact he described his subsequent career as “fairly successful”

Due to its continued loud support for Wegman & Vreede, the Anthroposophical Society in Great Britain was expelled from the General Anthroposophical Society in 1935. The British Society finally rejoined the General Anthroposophical Society in 1963.

He was variously described by those who knew him as charming, humorous, whimsical & genial, a delightful companion with whom to take a walk in the country or a tour of an art gallery, a provider of wise advice & counsel. He could also be excitable in conversation, authoritarian in his approach to dealing with issues & curt in manner if he lost patience. As Marie Steiner von Sivers, wrote, he enjoyed a rich life.

1916 – Deathday Franz Marc, killed in action, German painter, one of the key figures of German Expressionism. He was a founding member of Der Blaue Reiter (The Blue Rider), a journal whose name later became synonymous with the circle of artists collaborating in it.

1943 – Death day of Dr. Ita Wegman co-founder of Anthroposophical Medicine with Rudolf Steiner. In 1921, she founded the first anthroposophical medical clinic in Arlesheim, Switzerland.

Ita Wegman, was born in Karawang, West Java, the first child of a Dutch colonial family. Around the turn of the century, she went to Europe & studied therapeutic gymnastics & massage. In 1902, when she was 26, she met Rudolf Steiner, who encouraged her to become a medical doctor. She began at the University of Zurich, where women were allowed to study medicine.

She developed a special form of massage therapy, called rhythmical massage, & other therapeutic treatments. In 1917, having opened an independent practice, she developed a cancer treatment using an extract of mistletoe following indications from Steiner. This first remedy, which she called Iscar, was later developed into Iscador & has become an important cancer treatment

By 1919 she had a joint practice together with two other doctors, also women. In 1920 she purchased land in Arlesheim, where she opened her own clinic, the Klinisch-Therapeutisches Institut, or Clinical-Therapeutic Institute, the next year. A number of other doctors joined the institute, which grew steadily over the next years as a first center for anthroposophical medicine. In 1922 she founded a therapeutic home for mentally handicapped children, Haus Sonnenhof, also in Arlesheim, & co-founded a pharmaceutical laboratory, Weleda, that has since grown into a significant producer of medicines & health-care products.

In the following year, Rudolf Steiner asked Wegman to join the Executive Council of the newly reformed Anthroposophical Society at the Goetheanum in Dornach, Switzerland. Steiner also named her as the head of the First Class of the School of Spiritual Science. She also directed the Medical Section of the research center at the Goetheanum.

Together, Wegman & Steiner wrote what was to be Steiner’s last book, Extending Practical Medicine (earlier editions were published as Fundamentals of Therapy), which gave a theoretical basis to the new medicine they were developing. The book was partly written while Wegman cared for Steiner, who was already terminally ill. Wegman founded a new medical journal, Natura, the following year.

In 1936, the clinic opened a second home in Ascona, Switzerland. Shortly thereafter, difficulties between Wegman & the rest of the Executive Council flared up,& Wegman was asked to leave the Council; in addition, she& a number of supporters had their membership in the Anthroposophical Society itself withdrawn.

Her medical work & personal inner development flourished, however, & Wegman travelled extensively in support of the rapidly growing movement to extend medicine’s limits; she was especially active in the Netherlands & England during this time.

Dr. Ita Wegman died in Arlesheim in 1943, at the age of 67.

1977 – The 1977 Vrancea earthquake in eastern and southern Europe kills more than 2,500, mostly in Bucharest, Romania.

Fred Janney in 1999 joined with six other members of the Anthroposophical Society from around the country to start what soon became known as Anthroposophical Prison Outreach.  We are celebrating twenty years of service to incarcerated individuals based on the good will and donations of our member.
