An Impulse for the Future

Today – March 14th is a very active day according to Rudolf Steiner’s original Calendar of the Soul. It’s Pi day & Albert Einstein’s birthday & other important individualities in world history. The spirit of Marie Steiner-von Sivers has been very present for me as of late, & today is her birthday – And so in honor of this Slavic soul, the co-creator of Anthroposophy, I felt called to let her bring the leading thoughts for this day. – The quote I will share comes from an Introduction that she wrote after Rudolf Steiner’s death, in 1947 when she published ‘AN IMPULSE FOR THE FUTURE, GA 252 given by Rudolf Steiner when endowing a Society for Theosophy and Theosophical Art on 15 December of 1911. Rudolf Steiner Verlag, Haus Duldeck, CH-4143 Dornach. The introduction by Frau Dr. Steiner was entitled: “The Life in the Anthroposophical Society from the First World War to the Burning of the First Goetheanum”

And I think we can all agree that The future is now, so let us hear these words from Marie Steiner-von Sivers:

“Considering the difficulties of the times Rudolf Steiner continually placed indications for later activity in our souls, seeds for the future, which, after the soul’s sleep has been overcome can unfold with life. Through the hectic every-day life they are often spoiled or grasped, and then swept away by the mix of events. Among the souls who could accept these seeds of the future, surely there were some who were able to find new life because of them; but also there were those who – like the hard ground in the Gospel parable – could not benefit from them…Rudolf Steiner tried, not only by means of philosophy and science, art and spirituality, to lead us to freedom, but also through teaching within esoteric life, so that the old relation of dependence on the teacher would gradually develop into the impulse for freedom and responsibility to the spirit. Souls which consider themselves anchored in spirit, must pass a trial. Such a self-desired trial always calls forth an accelerated karma also what is gladly hidden from the self must be revealed./ Rudolf Steiner stressed that the content of this lecture be completely independent of all those he had previously given. It was, so to speak, a direct message from the spiritual world. It was a call delivered to humanity – followed by waiting to see what echo resulted. Such a call happens as a rule three times. If the call also remains unheard the third time, it is taken back to the spiritual world for a long time. The call was already sent to humanity once, unfortunately it found no echo. With every fruitless attempt, the conditions and relations become more difficult. This lecture was the second time. It concerns purely spiritual things. According to the notes “My dear friends” is how he began.

To my knowledge the lecture referred to has not been translated into English. If someone has it in English please share!?!

We can certainly know that the 3rd call came at the Christmas Conference.

Friends, The Time is at hand – the Future is Now – Now as we stand in the midst of the centennial of the Re-founding of the Anthroposophical Society. Will we hear it?

Here is a recording of a biography of Marie Steiner-von Sivers for Applied Anthroposophy.

A description of Marie Steiner von Sivers as seen in the character of Maria from the Mystery Dramas:

“Within our circle a knot forms – Out of threads which Karma spins in world-becoming. Maria, all the things you suffer – Are parts within a knot of fate – In which heavenly powers – Are linked with human life.

When in life’s pilgrimage I had attained – That rank which granted me the dignity – To serve with counsel in the spirit-spheres, A godlike Being did draw near to me, Who wished to descend into the realms of earth, And dwell there, veiled in form of flesh, as a human being. For just at this turning-point of time The Karma of humankind made this demand.

For each great step in world-development – Is only possible when Gods do stoop – To link themselves with human destiny. And this new spirit-sight that must grow – And germinate now in souls of human beings – Can only be unfolded when a God – Plants a seed within some human heart.

My task it was to find that human soul – Which worthy, could take within itself – That powerful Seed of God. I had to join – The deed of heaven to some human lot. My spirit’s eye then sought, and fell on you. Your course of life had fitted you to be – The mediator in salvation’s work.

Through many former lives you had acquired – Receptiveness for all the greatest things – That human hearts can experience. Within your tender soul you did bring forth, As spirit heritage, the noble gift – Of beauty, joined to virtue’s loftiest claim: And that which your eternal Self had formed – And brought to being through your birth on earth – Did reach ripe fruitage when your years were few. —

And such a soul alone was I to choose – As mediator for the God, who sought – The power to work within our human world. And now you have learned that your nature must – Transform itself into its opposite, When it flows forth to other human souls. The spirit in you ripens whatsoe’er – In human nature can attain the realm – Of vast eternity; and much it slays – Which is of transitory realms. – And yet the sacrifices of such deaths – Are but the seeds of immortality; All that which blossoms forth from death below – Must grow into the higher life above.”
~Rudolf Steiner, from Scene 3 of ‘The Portal of Initiation’

14 March 2022 – “Speaking with the Stars”: Watch for the almost-full moon ascending in the eastern sky, shortly after sunset. The bright star glowing near the moon is Regulus, Heart of the Lion in the constellation Leo.

This week’s verse, leading to Friday’s penultimate full moon before Easter,
can be regarded as a climax, with the 7th mention of the heart and the 3rd of love,
their last appearance till next winter, the heart at the Solstice and love at Epiphany.
Awakening Of Love

In light, whose flowing from the heights
would be the world’s empowering of soul,
let shine the certainty of cosmic thought
that solves soul riddles
and focusing its radiance in human hearts
awakens love.

the mirror verse
Easter V
Soul Resurrection

In light, whose fertile weaving into space
from depth of spirit is revealing
the splendour of the gods’ creating,
the being of the soul is shining, widening,
enlivened in the presence of the world
and resurrected
from narrow selfhood’s inner power.

These verses are part of the Light quartet. Here are 2 quotations via from Eleanor Merry, re. v48, “Light, now more and more seen returning to Earth, awakens in our hearts highest love that does not permit uncertainty. With inner ears, we hear, “Have Light in yourselves, that you may become the children of Light”; and from Rudolf Steiner’s lecture to young doctors, Nov 30, 1919,
with every breath of air, we take not only air but also light into ourselves, and we transform this light within us and make it our own as we do any other substance: we digest it, we make it an integral part of our self.”

Feast Day of Abigail (Hebrew “my father’s joy”) in 2 Samuel 17:25 She became a wife of David after Nabal’s death, & the mother of Daniel, one of David’s sons. Abigail is also listed as one of the seven Jewish women prophets.

1592 – Ultimate Pi Day: the largest correspondence between calendar dates & significant digits of pi since the introduction of the Julian calendar

1794 – Eli Whitney is granted a patent for the cotton gin

1879 – Birthday of Albert Einstein! (1879 the year Michael became the Time-Spirit)

1681 – Birthday of Georg Philipp Telemann, a German Baroque composer & multi-instrumentalist. Almost completely self-taught in music, he became a composer against his family’s wishes. He held important positions in Leipzig, Sorau, Eisenach,& Frankfurt before settling in Hamburg in 1721, where he became musical director of the city’s five main churches. While Telemann’s career prospered, his personal life was always troubled: his first wife died only a few months after their marriage, & his second wife had extramarital affairs & accumulated a large gambling debt before leaving Telemann.

Telemann was one of the most prolific composers in history & was considered by his contemporaries to be one of the leading German composers of the time—he was compared favorably both to his friend Johann Sebastian Bach, who made Telemann the godfather & namesake of his son Carl Philipp Emanuel, & to George Frideric Handel, whom Telemann also knew personally. He remained at the forefront of all new musical tendencies & his music is an important link between the late Baroque & early Classical styles

1790 – Birthday of Ludwig Emil Grimm, a German painter, art professor, etcher & copper engraver. His brothers were the well-known folklorists Jacob & Wilhelm Grimm

1804 – Birthday of Johann Strauss I, an Austrian Romantic composer. He was famous for his waltzes, & he popularized them alongside Joseph Lanner, thereby setting the foundations for his sons to carry on his musical dynasty. His most famous piece is the Radetzky March.

1820 – Birthday of Victor Emmanuel II – Giuseppe Garibaldi made him King of Italy – first king of an independent, united Italy since the 6th century. The Italians gave him the epithet of Father of the Fatherland (Italian: Padre della Patria). Rudolf Steiner speaks about him in Karmic Relationships Vol. Lecture 12, as being a pupil of Garibaldi when they were together in the Hibernian Mysteries along with Cavour & Mazzini.

1867 – Birthday of Marie Steiner von Sivers – born into an aristocratic family in Włocławek, Poland, then part of Russia. She was well-educated, fluent in Russian, German, English, French & Italian. She studied theater & recitation with several teachers in Europe.

Marie von Sivers “appeared one day” at one of Rudolf Steiner’s early lectures in 1900. In the autumn of 1901, she posed the question to Steiner, “Would it be possible to create a spiritual movement based on European tradition and the impetus of Christ?” Rudolf Steiner later reported: With this, I was given the opportunity to act in a way that I had only previously imagined. The question had been put to me, and now, according to spiritual laws, I could begin to answer it.

Marie Steiner-von Sivers & Rudolf Steiner were married on Christmas eve 1914, & she was one of his closest colleagues. She accompanied him & helped him as secretary, translator, editor, & organizer of his lecture tours & other public activities. She assisted Steiner’s work with her own resources & in 1908 founded the Philosophical-Theosophical Press (later Philosophical-Anthroposophical) to publish Steiner’s work.

Marie von Sivers was trained in recitation & elocution & made a study of purely artistic speaking. She gave introductory poetry recitals at Steiner’s lectures & assisted him in the development of the 4 Mystery Dramas (1910–1913). With her help, Steiner conducted several speech & drama courses with the aim of raising these forms to the level of true art.

Starting in 1912, the art of eurythmy was developed by Rudolf Steiner. Under Marie Steiner-von Sivers’ guidance, it developed in three directions, as a stage art, as an integral part of Waldorf pedagogy, & as a therapeutic method. Under her tutelage, two schools of eurythmy were founded, in Berlin & in Dornach, Switzerland.

She made a great contribution to the development of anthroposophy, particularly in her work on the renewal of the performing arts (eurythmy, speech & drama), & the editing & publishing of Rudolf Steiner’s literary estate.

Marie von Sivers collaborated with Steiner for the rest of his life & carried his work beyond his death in 1925 until her own death in 1948, after reconciling with Ita Wegman.

1883 – Deathday of Karl Marx. Rudolf Steiner revealed that Marx was a landowner in Northern France in the early 9th century, & that one day his property was seized by a rival. Marx was then forced to work under the new owner of his former property. The new owner reincarnated as Friedrich Engels, who embarked on a compensatory cooperation with his former rival. So it is that old impulses of destiny may work on in a new incarnation. No wonder that Marx became a fierce enemy of all private property, having himself experienced in a previous life how insecure the private ownership of property can become. Those seeking deeper insight into this historic-karmic background of Marx & Engels & their activities are referred to Steiner’s lecture of 6 April 1924. GA 236.

1923 – Birthday of Diane Arbus, American photographer & writer noted for photographs of marginalized people—dwarfs, giants, transgender people, nudists, circus performers—& others whose normality was perceived by the general populace as ugly or surreal. In 1972, a year after she committed suicide, Arbus became the first American photographer to have photographs displayed at the Venice Biennale.  Millions viewed traveling exhibitions of her work in 1972–1979. The book accompanying the exhibition, Diane Arbus: An Aperture Monograph, is the bestselling photography monograph ever, still being reprinted today

1932 – Deathday of George Eastman, American inventor & businessman, founded Eastman Kodak

This course, to train practitioners in Star Wisdom will take place in the StarHouse June 2022. It is designed to train beginners who are willing to ride a steep learning-curve, and long-time astrologers.

Our teaching weaves experiential activities (embodiment) and conceptual learning so you learn it more thoroughly.

On-line too: The course will also be on-line (live-streamed, interactive). A manager on our end will coordinate actively with those attending via Zoom, including relaying questions to the presenters for comment. (We plan that the event will be filmed and edited, and parts of it made available as a course through our website.)

Our approach to astrology is informed and inspired by Rudolf Steiner’s indications found sprinkled throughout his six thousand lectures, as it has been developed by a small group of astrosophers over several decades. This deeper understanding of, and interaction with, the heavens is based on:

  • A sidereal (star-based) view of the heavens, emphasizing the active and dynamic role of the beings working from stars and constellations
  • Equal length zodiacal signs (relating to the lineage of Zarathustra), equal houses, and recognizing the Earth’s role and significance to the birth chart
  • Anthroposophy (thus called astrosophy, with its particular guidance for understanding the beings indwelling the zodiacal and planets)
  • Identifying and working with spiritual themes in our lives in a way made practical by the research of Robert Powell, and the indications of cosmic Christianity, as understood through Anthroposophy.
  • And other features that we will teach.

Some topics that we will cover:

  • New and traditional methods for interpreting a birth chart
  • Zodiacal constellations in the birth chart
  • Understanding the meaning in the patterns of the moving planets
  • Planetary aspects in the birth chart
  • The important role of the twelve equal houses, in the birth chart
  • How transiting planets interplay in the time-stream of life, presenting challenges and opportunities
  • Determining the time of conception and its own chart
  • The care necessary to regard the information of a person’s sacred birth moment with reverence and understanding
  • The importance of understanding reincarnation and karma for human development
  • The journey between death and rebirth, and why that is important for human destiny
  • Human Life phases: the 7-year periods of our life biography and the relation of those periods to the planetary spheres
  • The role of self-development for a practitioner of New Astrology

PRESENTERS AND GUIDES (Not a full list-more to come!)

Mary Stewart Adams is a Star Lore Historian, and host of the weekly public radio program and podcast “The Storyteller’s Night Sky”.  Through her research in spiritual science and her education in literary arts, Mary has developed a unique, humanities-based approach to understanding our relationship with the stars.  Her work is further augmented by an extensive knowledge of ancient mythologies and fairy tales, which she relates to the research and ideas of contemporary astronomy in order to understand the new star wisdom of astrosophy.

Eyahnna DalBo (artist of the Sophia Rising painting) came to anthroposophy 30 years ago when her daughter attended a Waldorf school. Her studies have included an undergraduate degree in fine art and graduate work in psychology using the arts for healing.  In her private practice, she developed various energetic modalities. Her experience with subtle energy fields gave her the opportunity to teach and take part in designing a curriculum for a 2-year program focusing on energy healing. As a consultant, she initiated numerous therapeutic programs to assist in pioneering the field of art therapy. Through the gift of an apprenticeship with indigenous people she was able to bring their practices and ceremonies to what she offered deepening her ability to be of service.  As an artist, she continues to utilize the spoken word, movement, sound, and visual imagery to honor and create a field that fosters awareness, growth, and transformation.

Angela Foster has been an active student of anthroposophy since 2008. After growing up in Texas, Angela is now embracing life in Atlanta, Georgia as an artist, teacher, and mom of two daughters, shepherd to two mini sheep. As a conscious practitioner of “beginner’s mind”, Angela has completed programs in foundation studies in Anthroposophy numerous times and is currently enrolled in Foundation Studies in Goethean Science through the Nature Institute. She and her husband manage the Anthroposophical Resource Center (ARC) an initiative in Decatur, Georgia that offers space for community events and serves as a little house for Anthroposophia.

Stephanie Georgieff, MS is an author, podcaster and pilgrim. Residing mostly in the Northern Hemisphere, she has written several books on The Divine Feminine as presented through the genre of The Black Madonna, The Virgin of Guadalupe and The Divine Sophia. She has spoken at conferences and venues throughout North America, the United Kingdom and Europe. The Black Madonna Speaks is her latest endeavor, a weekly podcast exploring the mysteries of The Black Madonna from an Anthroposophical and Esoteric Chritian perspective, along with artists, poets, authors and scholars on the subject.

Hazel Archer-Ginsberg – Founder of Reverse Ritual: Understanding Anthroposophy through the Rhythms of the Year & the ‘I Think Speech’ Podcast. Trans-denominational Minister, Essayist, Lecturer, Poet, Anthroposopher – working as the Cultural Events & Festivals Coordinator of the Chicago Rudolf Steiner Branch, & as the Central Regional Council representative on the General Council of the Anthroposophical Society in America. Past Video Recordings.

Helena Hurrell joyfully met Anthroposophy in San Fransisco in 1977 and has been working with individuals and groups as a Waldorf educator since 1981 and then throughout her life trained to become a therapist while living in Australia, the UK and North America. She is currently in private practice in Colorado blending the therapeutic work she offers through her love of color ~ as an Art and Metal Color Light Glass Therapist trained in the UK and Germany. Both of these trainings are certified by the Medical Section at the Goetheanum. Metal Color Light Therapy is a relatively new initiative originated by the late Marianne Altmaier who developed this therapy and training out of her deep interest in and knowledge of the Goetheanum windows in Dornach. Helena’s website:

Helen-Ann Ireland has been involved in anthroposophical studies for over 30 years as a Waldorf teacher, member of the School for Spiritual Science, Class holder, and now as chair of the Anthroposophical Society of America. A special interest has been in the area of the Divine Feminine and the Being of Sophia.

  1. Well, Kyle, if the account given and recorded in Stein’s notebook is accurate, then Steiner was forecasting a quick reincarnation by the end of the 20th century. To speculate that in eighty years time from 1922 means his birth in 2002, which would make him twenty years old, and possibly still getting his karmic bearings, seems likely a fruitless search to find the man who clearly wanted to experience the effects of receiving the Etheric Christ. As we know, this was not possible until the second third of the 20th century, c. 1933. Thus, Steiner did not live to formulate and speak about a specific methodology for preparing to experience Christ in the etheric body. All he was able to say is that it involves the continual process of etherization of the blood. Yet, it must be taken to a higher and more intense level.

  2. All that is known about this 2nd call is found in the text published in GA 264 on pages 421 – 435. This text can also be found in in the translation by Frank Thomas Smith.
In 2012, 2 books were published on this 2nd call. One of these books is by Virginia Sease and is entitled “Rudolf Steiner’s Attempt at a Foundation for Theosophical Style/Manner and Art December 15, 1911 A Reflection after 100 Years.
Perhaps this book was also published in English; Virginia Sease is, after all, American.

  3. Hi Hazel,

Not wanting to dispute anything here because I think a Whitsun Festival this year is really important, but I think the call must come from out of the spiritual worlds. We have matured enough to know that Christ has reappeared as an Etheric Body presentation. Some of us know that to experience Christ in the etheric body means that an event of Pentecost is assured. For me, this occurred on February 28, 2001, which just happened to be Ash Wednesday that year.

So, here is my thinking. Whether Rudolf Steiner proposed the CC of 1923 in advance, based on whatever encouragement he got to do so, when his aging body wanted to retire and become a kind of professor emeritus to the whole lot, is really the issue. He did do this. Yet, here is the issue.

If a third call had come from the spiritual world in order to refound the society, then Steiner’s whole motive should have been protected, even after his physical death. Yet, we know that Marie pulled the plug on the whole operation after Steiner’s death. Thus, she ended it. Why?

If it was a third call, which is generally accepted today, then she should have seen that all supports were needed for the continuance, which had already been established. Yet, rather than effecting the continuance, she called for the halt. She declared the CC of 1923 as over. In reality, it was just beginning. She should have published GA 260 right away, because it was the motive force. Instead, she waited 21 years until 1944 in order to publish GA 260 for the first time.

Why do you think she did that when it was all right there for the continuation? Her foreward to GA 260 is really quite a revelation.

Our friend, Ottmar, is on the trail. Hopefully, he holds clues from his excursion to Dornach, and wherein he is looking at the entrails of physical documents. He also walks the complex of the modern Goetheanum, which is what is most important for him.

So, you see where we are at. Marie halts any discussion of the CC of 1923 until 1944. She declares it dead with the death of Rudolf Steiner. Thus, she sees no third call, because if she had, she would have said it. And so it goes.

Yet, this brings us to where we are right now. Pentecost 2022.

    1. We must each take up the call. We can not blame not doing so on 1 or 2 individuals.

Of course we must recognize how the adversarial forces were active thru individuals. Marie having held the Sophia for so long, that when it left her the space was open, & thru the influence of Roman Boos who had Nazi ties, & who she had old karma with, the temptation to not want to rock the boat came in, which added to the tension between those wanting to go forward & those that felt called to protect what there was. Marie’s incarnation as Aristotle’s successor influenced her as well around the publishing of the collective works. The whole of the society was meant to take up the being of Anthroposophia the source of the movement, & instead let old karmic ties bind them…

It is up to us to work with Michael Sophia & the Christ impulse waiting for us to rise in our thinking to bring into the work of ordering our karma now.

      1. Sure. I knew this would be a little controversial for you, but what I wanted to indicate is that any call perceived as coming from the spiritual worlds, and especially this one coming at Christmas 1923, should have been heeded. Steiner did so much in the short span of time left for him that a direct continuation was really assured. Yet, other factors were also involved.

So, today, it is really all about understanding what Reverse Ritual really means. Steiner dealt with this in his final lecture of GA 219, just two hours before the flames were first detected at 10 pm on the night of December 31, 1922.

Yes, finger-pointing is a waste of time, and yet you do so with a man that Steiner respected very much; Roman Boos. Whether he aligned with the Nazi’s is as equally relevant to Marie Steiner writing a letter to Adolf Hitler on November 17, 1935. This was several months after the Purge of the British and Dutch members of the GAS. So, what do you think was up with that?

Indeed, Hazel, we have arrived at a crossroads in human evolution. There can be no doubt of it. Your efforts are exalting because of what you encourage every day. That is why I string along with you. I want this year to be special for a reason. I will hold its revelation for a little while longer, but it can be shown that Rudolf Steiner died with eight years of unfulfilled karma. This is meaningful because if he had lived until 1933, he would have reached 72 years of age. This is important because by then, his successorship would have been secured. Yet, he died in 1925.

It is what we do today that counts, and the concept and function of Reverse Ritual is what is needed to steer the ship between Scylla and Charybdis. You remember that analogy? It still applies; more than ever.

        1. Yes, we are called to do that work of rising in our thinking to meet the spiritual world. That is what the 1010 is all about – empowering us to steer the ship & not fall prey to the desire to stay lukewarm in the hopes of not rocking the boat…I say we must rock the boat in awakened consciousness, with good will – in service of the Divine plan.

It is interesting to see the date you mention November 17, 1935 – the counter-impulse to Marie’s question about bringing esoteric Christianity to the West that she posed to Rudolf Steiner 17 Nov. 1901 & Ita Wegman’s question of renewing the mysteries on 17 Nov. 1923…

And so those 8 years of Rudolf Steiner’s unused etheric forces must be gathered up for our world Pentecost 2022 or we will need to experience another burning…What will the sacrifice be? The willing offering? How can we meet the surging Spirit so that the Word can pour forth & be understood by all?

          1. I am thinking that there was a perceived “scandal” after Steiner married Marie von Sivers in December 1914. GA 252 indicates a ‘first call’ in December 1911, and then a ‘second call’ in 1915, which was thwarted by the infamous Sprengle-Goesch schism. Steiner goes over this situation in the lectures GA 253:

Then, in GA 254, that follows closely, the aims of the nefarious Occult Movement are described. Steiner is forced to reveal such things as the fact of the Eighth Sphere as the great goal of this Occult Movement. The schism sought by Sprengle-Goesch is implied as coming from an outside source in the first full year of World War I. The secret to the date of November 17th is that it was on this date that the Theosophical Society was established by Blavatsky and Olcott in New York City in 1875.

There is an old saying concerning cooperation in matters of great and gifted concerns that goes: “You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink”. The horse is an allegory for Intelligence. There is so much available of it at our disposal, and especially considering the Realm of the Spirit-Selfhood, which has nothing better to do than come down from its position just beyond the starry astral world.

            1. WOWza…those lectures are revealing
but I’m not sure I understand your labeling of these pathological expressions to be the ‘first or send call’
To me the call was from the spiritual world was to found the arts, but that it was destroyed by the adversarial forces living in the delusional vanity of some members

              1. Yes, WOWza is a good way to express how Steiner wanted to lay it all out concerning Sprengle-Goesch. Now, the reason I cannot be more definitive here concerning the actual nature of the failure of the Second Call is because GA 252 is merely a report without all the details given. What stood out for me was when Sprengle-Goesch were mentioned, and I knew that they had to have something to do with killing the Second Call. If you read the report, GA 252, the First Call was for the incentive given on December 15, 1911, and the second was intervened upon in in 1915, with the attempted schism of Sprengle-Goesch.

This is why Rudolf Steiner gave the lectures contained in GA 254. He knew that the occult movement was behind the schism, and why the allegory of Scylla and Charybdis was invoked on behalf of saving “the good ship Anthroposophy” from the slanted aims of subjective mysticism and occultism. In other words, Blavatsky and Sinnett.

        2. Steiner does make quite a bit of emphasis on a Movement, and ‘invisible communities’ of individuals who are ‘waking in other groups’. He says this in Preparing for the Sixth Epoch. Also, Clifton Furness – the American who was fascinated by the School of Chartres, and may have been the reason why Steiner chose to talk about it – made it a point that Steiner was very inclusive and did indeed want to reach out to other groups who were not of his ‘circle’ (so to speak).

Given that Steiner had unfinished business, what would a Soul like his do now? Isn’t Steiner supposedly – according to him – be incarnated as we speak in America? Wouldn’t someone who is completely conscious of who they are/were be able to know that they were Steiner in a past life… go on sites such as here… and partake in the conversation? Or would they never give their true identity? Watching from the sidelines and hoping that people can finally pick themselves up for once instead of the reincarnation of Steiner doing all the work?

We are, afterall, supposed to have great help from masters of old. The true miracles might just be for some to behold. It does give me shivers to think that this time might seemingly be as unbelievable as 2000 years ago.

          1. Hi Kyle, When reading Steiner’s biography we realize that even though he was a great initiate working for the furthering of human evolution from the start, he still didn’t ‘know who he was’ until he was much older. I remember one story of how he gave a lecture & a Priest friend came up to him afterward & said that what he spoke reminded him of Aristotle, & in that moment he had a flash of himself from that incarnation…If Steiner has returned as he said he & others with him would after 80 years in the spiritual world then he would only be 17 years old, & so his “I” hasn’t even come in yet & if he didn’t have a Waldorf education then he may take a long time before finding himself…And my question is would he even want to be involved with the Anthroposophical society as it is today…?

            1. I believe it was when Steiner returned to England for the first time in nearly nine years in 1922 that he spoke words to Walter Johannes Stein to the effect that in 80 years time he would be incarnated again in America. That doesn’t mean he was born in 2002, but possibly able to more fully acknowledge the Etheric Christ as a perceptive fact. His unused etheric forces could have prepared him to have this experience. We know that this return to the west for the first time since May 1913 set in motion the aims of German nationalism against him, which was first expressed with the assassination attempt in Munich in May. He loved Munich, where he had given the four mystery plays, and had wanted to build the Johannesbau, but he would never go there again.

Marie Steiner would make this tumultuous time of 1922 the focal point of her foreward to the first edition of GA 260, which was finally published in 1944. She indicates how volatile sentiments against Rudolf Steiner had become, and even leading to the destruction of the first Goetheanum on the morning of January 1, 1923. Yet, he went back to England two more times! What audacity. Or was it merely the Michael Impulse coordinating with Christ and Sophia that made him do it? Please remember, when the Marriage in Cana took place, the Mother of Jesus was there. Christ says, “My Time has not yet come”. Yet, in wanting to concord with Her desire to see the marriage ceremony fulfilled to the utmost, He implies, “okay, what do you want Me to do?” She tells the stewards: “Whatever He says to do, you do it”.

Are we ready for what this miracle, the first of seven, really beholds? Consider what Matthew 11 says in verses 29 and 30. “Take My yoke upon you because I Am gentle and humble of heart, and My burden is easy and My load is Light”.

              1. Just to clarify. Steiner went back to England two more times in 1922. Thus, April, August, and November. Then, 1923 and 1924. This was perceived as a clear aligning with the west, which reminded of Marie’s question asked on November 17, 1901 at the Chrysanthemum Tea about a western-occidental esoteric movement. As well, Daniel Dunlop from England, had some interesting notions about a World Power Consortium that disturbed the German nationalists, but Steiner saw as fruitful for the future.

If he had lived, America would have been next on his list of westward expansion.

              2. Steve, so he didn’t actually mean ‘physical’ incarnation? Either way, his timing for wanting to come to America seems rather appropriate… and given his awareness of the Occult movement. Cecil Rhodes of England had established a secret society in which their aim was to have a new Anglo-American empire (a new Rome essentially). W.T. Stead was part of it, and was known to get direct orders from across the threshold. What kind of spirits are communicating with him, that would advise him and others to create a ‘new Rome’ out of America? W.T. Stead knew what he was doing.

Also his book, Americanisation of the World:

W.T. Stead died with the sinking of the Titanic in 1912.

The Americanisation of the World is the perfect vehicle for an Ahrimanic impulse (or ‘has been’ the perfect vehicle).

  4. You write: ” We can certainly know that the 3rd call came at the Christmas Conference.” This is a widespread opinion, but I take the liberty of clearly disagreeing. The Christmas Conference did NOT come about as a call from the spiritual world, but on the initiative of Rudolf Steiner. He emphasised several times that this was a novelty in spiritual history; that he did not know at first whether this initiative would be accepted by the spiritual world and, as he later wrote with relief, that this initiative was positively received by the spiritual world. If the Christmas Conference had come into being in response to a call from the spiritual world, these very well documented statements by Rudolf Steiner would not make sense.
Once again: The Christmas Conference came into being on Rudolf Steiner’s initiative; it was not a response to a call from the spiritual world.

As for the lecture that is not translated: Can you give a date?

    1. Yes it was a completely new impulse for the modern consciousnesses soul age which asks the human being to speak to the stars out their own initiative – Rudolf Steiner spoke & the stars answered just as we must…

‘AN IMPULSE FOR THE FUTURE, GA 252 given by Rudolf Steiner when endowing a Society for Theosophy and Theosophical Art on 15 December of 1911. Rudolf Steiner Verlag, Haus Duldeck, CH-4143 Dornach. The introduction in 1947 by Frau Dr. Steiner was entitled: “The Life in the Anthroposophical Society from the First World War to the Burning of the First Goetheanum”

      1. There is evidence, Hazel, that Rudolf Steiner received an incentive to refound the GAS in November 1923, when he was in Holland for the founding of the Holland branch of the AS. According to T.H. Meyer, it was Ita Wegman who encouraged Steiner not to retire, but rather to take charge of a whole new endeavour for the furtherance of the Society into the future. Thus, it was an initiative that he took responsibility for, and possibly coming from the encouragement of Ita Wegman herself to do so.

Yet, it is definitely possible that a 3rd Call is needed in our time, and I am envisioning all that is implicated in what Reverse Ritual means here on your site. If we were to ask for the source of Reverse Ritual as an act coming from out of the spiritual world, it seems likely that we could trace it to the event of Pentecost, which was experienced by the several disciples two thousand years ago. Thus, this becomes our benchmark.

In other words, what strives upward out of the human soul and spirit, which is committed to the Science of the Spirit, meets *that* which is descending down, which Christ first gave to His faithful disciples. I think we have reached the point where this is a very real possibility. The breakthrough of World Pentecost is something that Sergei Prokofieff particularly took notice of.

Why not? In our time it is largely overdue, considering the 2,000 years, but miracles can still take place. Maybe this year is the one. June 5th marks Pentecost 2022.

        1. So interesting that Marie von Sivers asked the Christ question on 17 November 1901 & Ita Wegman asked if there might be a renewal of the mysteries on 17 November 1923.
Steiner was either going to found another esoteric school in which he would work with only a small number of students OR refound the society for the general section.

After much soul searching he chose to make the ultimate sacrifice to tie his karma in with us, uniting the Society & the movement. And the Spiritual World sent back a resounding YES!

The Christmas Conference was the 3rd call which did not find resonance at that time, but the Rosicrucian law is that after 100 years there is another chance. The story of opening the grave of Christian Rosenkreutz after 100 years years is the symbol of this.

The Whitsun event is a powerful opportunity to enter into – it holds the mystery of the Christened Sophia that we must become a vessel for so that we can fulfill our destiny & right livelihood out in the world.

I am hope to initiate a Whitsun Festival this year with the East, West & Central Regions of the ASA.
