Katharsis

The light at the end of the rabbit hole | Animal Sheltering Online ...

Recently I fell into the rabbit hole, looking outwards, searching for culprits of this ‘plan-demic’, this pandemonium. And now again I am pulled to continue to investigate thru the lens of spiritual-science, to ask what task this illness holds for us as individuals & for humanity as a whole. I have written a lot about how Rudolf Steiner describes epidemics as events that belong to the progress of humanity, serving to enhance our spiritual & moral development. So, on a personal & global, karmic level, we need to ask: Why have I called in this ‘pandemic’?

Guest Post] Avoid the Rabbit Hole! When to Stop Searching ...

Every illness is always associated with a task – this is something we know especially from the field of Anthroposophical Medicine. New abilities need to be acquired, which often involve a personal catharsis – involving deep layers of the soul – an investigation of karma – a striving to ‘Know Thyself’. If you listen to your inner self, what do you perceive there?

Interview with The Rabbit Hole - Rocky Mountain Food Tours

From an anthroposophical point of view we can think that humanity has laid the spiritual foundation for this current world event. In the Karma Lectures Rudolf Steiner addressed this aspect of epidemics. “These illnesses work according to a wise world plan. The human soul finds the opportunity to compensate what had been caused by the Ahrimanic influence and by certain earlier Luciferian influences. If other conditions of avoidance are now brought forward to delay this compensation, this is again becomes subject to far reaching karmic laws that add to the dept. We can see from this that we really must not look at these questions superficially“. ~Rudolf Steiner, Manifestations of Karma, THE NATURE AND SIGNIFICANCE OF KARMA IN THE PERSONAL AND INDIVIDUAL, AND IN HUMANITY, THE EARTH AND THE UNIVERSE, GA 120.

Down the rabbit hole..... | Clock, Cool clocks, Wall clock

It makes me think of how when the dragon was cast out of heaven, enabling the human being to become its host, there was a disruption in the karmic order of humanity. The angels that separated from the Choir Master Michael & came down to earth brought a kind of chaos into the karma of many. Are all the measures imposed upon us ‘for our own good’ part of this prevention of our karmic compensation?

Alice in Wonderland - Down the Rabbit Hole
John Flury

We can turn again to Rudolf Steiner’s explanation: “From this you can see that for a karmic compensation, which we would be able to remove from one side through prevention, or a temporary seeming cure, there would have to be a compensation in another direction again. We then only create the need to seek other opportunities and influences if we remove the initial influences. Now let us suppose that many epidemics, common causes of illness, can simply be seen to lead  back to the fact that those people who subconsciously bring in these ‘causes of  illness’, want to clear away what they have acquired through karma.

For example in the smallpox epidemic we can see the organs of unkindness.

If we were able to remove these organs, the cause of unkindness would still remain and the souls concerned would then have to seek the appropriate compensation in another way, in this or another incarnation.

We can understand what is going on when we point out something that we certainly have to count on, and that is the following. Today, indeed, a great deal of external influences and causes are being cleared away that would otherwise have been sought, as illnesses, to balance out certain karmic things that mankind has been carrying around since earlier ages. But by doing so, we only remove the possibility that man will be forfeited to the external influences: We make his outer life more pleasant or even healthier in the short term. But by doing this we only achieve that what man would have sought as karmic compensation in the corresponding disease relationship, must now be sought in another way. The souls which are kept back in this way today in a health-related relationship are thus condemned to seek this karmic balance in another way. And they will have to seek it, not just in one way, but in numerous cases, in often more dire cases.

By making their physical life guarded, the soul will be influenced in the opposite way; it will be in a way influenced that it will gradually feel a certain emptiness, an unsatisfactoriness, an unfulfilled feeling.

And if it were to go on in such a way, that the outer life would become more and more disconnected, more and more unrelated, as one can have it according to the general ideas in purely materialistic life, then such souls would have less and less incentive to progress in themselves. A desolation of the souls would in a certain sense “go hand in hand“.~Rudolf Steiner, Manifestations of Karma, THE NATURE AND SIGNIFICANCE OF KARMA IN THE PERSONAL AND INDIVIDUAL, AND IN HUMANITY, THE EARTH AND THE UNIVERSE, GA 120.

Ok, so when are we going to stop avoiding ourselves & begin to ask: What is the task of this dis-ease? Which ‘organs’ are calling to be developed in the sense spoken of here by Steiner ?

A free online Ascension Festival with the Central Regional Council –
Ascension Thursday – May 21, 2020 – 7pm – 8:15pm CDT (8pm – 9:15pm EDT)

Join the Central Regional Council and special guest Raven Garland on an artistic exploration of the Mystery of Ascension. We will offer leading thoughts, intermingled with poetry and Eurythmy, to be followed by open conversation.

In the clouds, between the depths of earth and heavenly heights, in the sphere of the etheric realm, we see the primal image of metamorphosis.

Is this global pandemic entreating us to ‘Practice Spirit Beholding’ to awaken to the etheric realm we all share in common with the earth?

We can ‘Practice Spirit Recalling’ to remember we received our etheric body on Old Sun. In practicing ‘Spirit-Sensing’ we may feel perhaps the Coronavirus is an admonition for us to reconnect to the sun-forces now imbued with The Etheric Christ, waiting to be recognized and engaged in the current evolving conditions. This is an invitation for all of humanity to rise to a higher stage of initiation – a global Coronation.

The fulfillment of the secret promise of the Ascension is the Second Coming. Will we choose to participate?

~Vitae Sophia~ A Whitsun Festival of United Soul Endeavor with Hazel Archer-Ginsberg

Online Whitsunday, 31 May 2020 from 10am–11:15am EDT Zoom Call*

Through leading thoughts and conversation we are called to redeem the ether spheres to create an Ecclesia, a chalice for The Sophia. Then the spirit flame can spread out to become what Steiner called a “World Whitsun”, which began in earnest at the Christmas Conference. The Whitsun Festival highlights one of the greatest challenges of being human: placing our individual gifts, in right relationship within the social realm. This challenge is especially strong now during this ‘pandemic’. Our groups striving to know Spiritual Science must work together as a community, to have the possibility to create a new culture where a sacrament is possible in every encounter. Our individual strength is enhanced by weaving our gifts together, kindling our social world in conscious community.

  1. Dear Hazel

Thank you for sharing the conference video! The content needs to be studied, as you suggest, along with the slides. Unfortunately, the link to the slides and resources for the workshop do not seem to work. Would you mind re-posting a link that works?

With much gratitude for your guidance,

  2. The other aspect that is new for me and that I am currently following a bread crumb trail on, is the the effect of karma on our current manifestations of illness and health. This seems to be something you are more familiar with than I, so I’m curious how you see that at play in GNM if that makes sense. I can see quite readily that not only past experiences in our current incarnations may serve as triggers for illness (as reminders of earlier conflicts that we may not be consciously aware of) but that we are triggered by experiences that mirror and remind us of past life experiences as well. I know that is not quite the explanation of karma related wellness/illness that Steiner talks about, but I am feeling my way around the nuances of this concept.

    1. Yes, most certainly karma is a big factor on all levels. You can see a list of research resourses in the links i sent.
      fascinating stuff

  3. Thank you Hazel for another thoughtful blog. Yes, the Corona crisis is in one respect a gift, as are most illnesses, in that they enable us to develop and grow. One could see it as the Cosmic Spirit giving us a wake-up call and a chance to start to heal the unhealthy aspects of materialism, greed and exploitation of people and the earth. Rather than blaming everyone and getting sucked into destructive conspiracies , which a lot of Anthroposophist are doing, shouldn’t we be asking ourselves firstly as individuals about how we need to change, and also asking how our States and Governments should change to enable the right healing to occur. In my view we need some kind of “Corona manifesto for Change” by the Summer solstice …………………. Keep up the good work !

    1. Thanks Rick, it’s true one of our biggest tasks is to Know Thyself, & see how we play a part in the whole.
And i struggle with how we can work together to do as you mentioned & get the powers that be to do the will of the people, or is this a sign that the people have no will?
So how do we strengthen our will & align it with the divine will…?
I love the idea of the Corona manifesto for Change”!

      1. We have a Will, but it is unconscious in both sleeping and waking until we find the means to wake up to it. That is why we cannot DO in the real sense of the term, doing; everything is a happening. To have a conscious Will would mean the ability to move mountains!

Rudolf Steiner spoke of the New Yoga of Will and its Michael culture here, and it has proven to be an active dynamic in bringing about conscious willing through the image and meditation of the lemniscate. The rhythmic system, or Feeling Soul, is the mediator. It really is worth trying as a methodology.

        1. O this lecture looks interesting. thank you, I feel it is our task to unlock the will – this is the only way we can be free

  4. Dear Hazel,

I love how you frame the transformative force working through us and the world! Your words and choice of images are meaningful and enlivening.

    With much gratitude,
    Casper

    1. Thank you for your kind words of encouragement!
Yes, we must take up the transformative forces that are wanting to work with us.
It’s difficult for me to discern how much we need to ‘fight’ & how much we need to surrender.
I am not so good at surrendering,
I am always questioning & feeling the need to call out injustice.
And so i strive to find the balance & live the middle path…

  5. I have so appreciated your musings on this whole situation, and especially your sharing of Steiner’s teaching on epidemics. I am myself situated in a unique (as far as I have found) position at the corners of several medical models that I have been looking to reconcile. Are you familiar with German New Medicine or the spiritual medicine theories of Are Thoreson? I have strongly suspected that there is a new organism (though not a virus as traditionally postulated) coming to bear in humanity that will propel us forward in ways that are needed, both individually and collectively as you mention. Something that will serve us in all layers if seen as either a vehicle for ahrimanic spirits that we must oppose in our biology and become strengthened by, both physically and spiritually (per Thoreson) , or as a helper to our microbiome for epigenetic changes and leaps in our physical evolution, which is how German New medicine would see it, even when the acclimation to this new found helper comes with a painful learning curve. Not all growth is painless and enjoyable, actually, none of it is?

Of course, I’m also on the fence with exosome theory and lack of any contagion at all as the source of these changes, but that the symptoms are truly coming from within if the numbers are even to be believed. I’d be curious to know your perspective on Steiner’s prediction of what a vaccine would ultimately be used for, to sort of spiritually hijack humanity and allow the doppelganger to ultimately gain more control over the etheric body as spiritual inclination and impulses decline even further? Are you considering the proposed RNA vaccine by Gates as a manifestation of this? I have seen some revealing science that is not at all anthroposophically influenced but is warning of this possibility (in not so many words).

    1. Greetings Courtney –
      Thank you for your contribution!
I am not familiar with German New Medicine, but it sounds like there is an aspect of empowering ourselves to re-member we have vast healing potential within us, waiting to be called forth. It makes me think of the idea of the pre-earthly deeds & how in the 1st 3 years these porfound powers enable us to stand upright & walk, speak & think, & that this power then lies dorment within us waiting to be consciously employed.

I have heard of Are Thoreson.

The idea of a new organism is interesting. I might put it into terms of the etheric Christ.
& yes, as you say, grow & new powers comes thru much labor & is not always comfortable.
It makes me think about how Steiner says that disease often comes from love of ease.

I think you hit the nail on the head with the idea that the vaccine is meant to keep us from realizing our true human potential.

so much to think about & digest. Thanks for opening up this conversation.

please feel free to share any of your research!

      1. Dis-ease from love of ease?! Mind blown, yes I see this.

Happy to share any research, but it’s hard to whittle down, I’ve spent the last decade studying German New Medicine and dismantling germ and virus theory for myself (as well as vaccine science after my oldest was injured) and now trying to merge it all with anthroposophical medicine in practice as well. If there’s anything you’d like more specifics on let me know which area!

        1. I just looked up GNM & it seems like a very new paradigm. How would you sum it up from your experience?

          1. Hm, a summary? It seems to shift for each person I explain it to. With an anthroposophical perspective I am looking at it with fresh eyes, so here goes.
GNM looks at the body as inherently wise and capable of finding balance from a wide range of biological conflict “shocks” that manifest our perceptions of trauma and stresses in the physical body, both on an organ level and in the brain, as shown by concentric circles in brain scans in the areas of the brain that directly correspond to the organ affected (by cancer, infection, dysfunction, cell loss, etc). Much of what we view as dis-ease or illness are actually manifestations of either an active conflict phase or a healing phase where the body is moving back in to balance /homeostasis (with either cellular and tissue build up or ulceration in the presence of beneficial microorganisms that can often look like “infection” ). Healing is not always pretty and easy, but when viewed as a necessary biological “program” can be dealt with in the absence of fear and often unnecessary and toxic modern treatments. All “conflicts” occur as a shock to the system, something unexpected. Not just all challenging emotions (emotional stresses can often reactivate old conflicts as “tracts’ or triggers), but something that activates a part of us that is connected to our evolutionary biology.

The interesting connection to anthroposophy for me, is in the view that most of the ways we react to these conflict shocks, is in a survival state that is carried over from our evolution as it is mirrored in our embryological development, just as our childhood development mirrors our developmental stages and evolution in humanity. Just as we move through the phases of a “fish like organism” with gills and and all and live in a watery environment for the first stage of our physical development, so too do we experience these shocks on the biological germ layer levels that correspond to those times when we faced far more threats to our physical survival (pre-atlantean or even pre-lemurian development? It’s all still will us in our physiology in some form is my understanding, but I could be misconstruing a little bit).

The many examples I use to illustrate this mostly circle around showing how our bodies interpret modern stresses with a physiological response that made more sense in a period of past development depending on our subconscious interpretation of the stress/conflict. Death frights can occur from many things in our modern life, not all of which require extra oxygen to escape, but our body interprets them all in that way in changes to lung tissue. Sick children do not typically (unless very young now) get extra breastmilk and colostrum for healing, but our body interprets the need in a similar way still with response in breast tissue. These are just some of the more readily understood examples, and though Dr. Hamer originally viewed this as the explanation for all cancers, it has been applied to many other ailments and chronic and acute illnesses in practice over the decades. It offers a very unique perspective on the pandemic cause as well, one that, as I mentioned, I am trying to see in the light of both spiritual and physical manifestations. GNM does not view bacteria (nor viruses, which it calls into question as existing in the current model theory) as infectious, it rests on host/terrain theory that our bodies have all bacteria present already, and only manifest them as infections depending on the individual, but it takes it a step further to say that the bacteria are being employed by the body for a specific cause. The mycobacterium that causes tuberculosis for example, is very useful in ulcerating and removing tissue that is no longer needed when a biological conflict is resolved and there was tissue build up in the conflict active phase.

I am still looking to see how a possible new organism is at play in humanity’s development with this view. Yes, I see that the forces of the etheric Christ are propelling us forward and more and more of us are feeling that seed force within us, but I think this is something else that I am seeing. I know that Steiner viewed viruses as exosomes, an expulsion of the cells, and I have seen somewhere his view on the nature of bacteria, but I can’t find the references for study. I’d be curious what you know if what he taught about bacteria. Thoreson indicates that they are manifestations of demonic beings? I’m trying to keep everything I have read on the subject straight. If so, I see them as being the element in our physical selves that both serves us when in the proper timing, and harms us when the body manifests them out of the right timing for our development. Something akin to the nature of what makes something “evil” according to Steiner. Evil is only “good” out of it’s proper time? Something like that. Or just my interpretation of the luciferic impulses and propulsion of humanity into knowledge. Could bacteria be present for our ultimate good even when they challenge us physically? Could they be something that makes us stronger and more resilient because we have to “fight against them” for wholeness and balance and healing. In GNM, the biological purpose for the programs that our bodies run is for ultimate strengthening and resilience in the face of repeating contact with that stressor. Hamer viewed his discoveries as spiritual, but few practitioners talk about that aspect. Anyway, many parallels and I have yet to work with or speak with another practitioner/student of GNM that has any history with anthroposphy or anthroposophical medicine.

I’ve seen evidence far too often with my own eyes that GNM explains much of our physical experience with illness (far more adequately than modern medical models), so I am trying to put it into a broader context with my own anthroposophical experiences. Thank you for inviting discussion! This got much longer than I planned, but once you get me talking on this subject….

            1. Thank you. Yes, I really resonate to this idea you connect with the GNM & the stages of human evolution.

How do we look at the karmic connections that shape current events? Our work with those on the “Other-side of the Threshold” can give us clues about the causes and purpose of epidemics and the ways of healing ourselves, our beloved dead and the Earth.

          2. Thank you for the video link, those quotes and the verses shared were very helpful. One thing that strikes me is that I think we are still in a place stuck between the shortcomings of modern materialistic medical science and spiritual science when we use terms that pull us into ways of thinking and acting that may not help us move beyond the trappings of theories that hold us back. Virus theory is one way that I think we will struggle if we cannot collectively move forward past it. From the writings and recordings that I have read of Steiner’s on viruses, I don’t know if I believe that he held them to be different from the bacilli of bacteria. The prevailing understanding and language of the time mixed the two copiously, as seen in his discussions of childhood illnesses, about diphtheria specifically. Even though diphtheria was identified as a bacteria in 1880, Pasteur’s germ theory from 1860 proposed many previously undocumented bacteria to be “viruses” because he could not see them or prove their existence with current methods. Steiner’s own language around this reveals that they were conflated often. My own study of Antoine Bechamp and Claude Bernard’s theory of terrain/host theory led me to the many other scientists that have called the existence of viruses (as currently understood) into question. Dr. Stefan Lanka, a german virologist is one notable example. (I’ve often wondered about the nature of the germanic peoples in coming to awakened views of scientific and medical truths as evidenced, in my view, by Dr. Hamer as well). Dr. Lanka has mentioned in his work that many other illnesses that have been attributed to viruses were later discovered to be “caused” by previously unidentified bacterial organisms as well. He has extensive explanations of why modern viral theory hinges on fraud and falsely perpetuated science, even up to the highest university levels. Electron microscopy can be said to observe exosomes, not viruses, and I can expand on that science as a medical laboratory scientist in a previous version of my professional trajectory, but I don’t think the how matters as much as the why and the meaning? Such as the “corona” that is observed is still manifesting regardless of the nature of the particle that is viewed as showing itself to us in that way?

My point being, that whether or not this “virus” is viewed as infectious and coming from an external source, or whether it is created from within us, as in exosome theory, it feels very crucial to understand this aspect in terms of it’s meaning for us. Dr. Thomas Cowan explains this fairly well, but he is the one that has quoted Dr. Steiner as understanding that viruses are simply “excretions of a poisoned cell”, which is exactly what modern exosome theory postulates them to be, though I have not independently found this quote for myself.

All to say that, yes, there is meaning in illness to be found, and I see that the meaning is greatly expanded when the truths of spiritual science are accounted for. I do not yet fully understand them, but I would love more resource links (the two bottom links would not copy and paste to anything for me) however, I wanted to say, that in my reading of Steiner’s descriptions of childhood and adult illnesses, he very much described a version of German New Medicine in his own words, I believe that he saw the truths of Hamer’s biological laws in his own way. And your experience with seeing the meaning in your own illness manifestation from the last election is very closely an understanding of what GNM would say about it.

My further study will focus on where do we go from here once we understand the karmic lessons to be gained from this experience collectively and individually (and I would argue that it is very difficult to have an accurate picture of what this truly looks like in the body for people we are told to be suffering from it currently as there is too much falsely reported and attributed for us to get a clear picture of what the nature of the meaning is for those affected, or that as many are affected as is claimed).

I also got the impression from your video recording in speaking about the satellites blanketing the earth as a potential disruption to our health, both physically as well as etherically and astrally, that yes, those can be causative factors (and I think Dr. Cowan would argue that they are indirect causes as they are electrically disruptive and supportive of our doppelganger) but that we are here to figure out what to do to reclaim our autonomy and sovereignty from those disruptive forces and to oppose them with spiritual awareness and power. Is that an accurate understanding of your response to the comment about the satellites and would it apply to the physical and spiritual forces behind 5G as well? (I don’t believe that 5G frequencies alone are to blame for what is happening, but I think they play a role)

I read a very interesting quote from Emil Boch recently, in his writing about the period of time before the Ascension of the Christ, that basically said that in looking back in to our “forgotten” past for the cause of our present illnesses, we are missing the need to call up spiritual forces for healing. He says ” Would it not be a far better method of healing to summon from the depths of man’s being, not those forgotten realms of which make him ill, but those which make him well, the real spiritual worlds.” He also says that we gain far more in death than in life, which I think speaks to what you are saying a bit in why we must not fear death collectively as we do in society perhaps. (Did I read into that? May have been my own thoughts interjecting) In any case, I suppose these thoughts inform my renewed search for understanding the nature of GNM as a spiritual scientist and how I can help people moving forward to find healing. Much appreciated for making space for me to share and explore.

            1. Thank you for your thought full sharing!
It’s true that in Steiner’s time they didn’t use the term virus, but i don’t think we need to fault Dr. Cowan or blame him for misquoting as some have done, i think he is simply putting into modern terms what spiritual science was able to reveal. But of course illness can have causes that come from both within & from destructive forces outside forces that can disrupt our harmony & can contribute to dis-ease, as you have pointed out.

I pray that more human beings will take the time as you have to explore these connections & not just swallow the prevailing propaganda.

In my talk on Monday May 18th i speak specifically about what i believe you are eluding to in referencing Emil Bock, the idea that if we can reawaken the grace we received from the pre-earthly deeds of Christ which allow us to stand upright, speak & think, as adults, we will have the forces to heal in our old age.

          3. Oh, my point was that he did use the term virus, but in referring to a bacteria in the case of Diphtheria.

I’m curious, are you aware of the quote referenced by Dr. Cowan and its source? I’d love to read where he got that from if you have an idea of what he may have misquoted or misinterpreted from Steiner.

            Thank you Hazel!

            1. Yes, as we gather intelligence from various trusted sources we are called on to practice discernment in the emploment of our soul forces of thinking, feeling & willing, letting each one inform the other…
