I to I

Lily Velture

What would it be to cultivate the imagination, that all the upheaval, the plagues & ‘natural’ disasters, that we are experiencing now are, in spiritual reality, the travails of the Being of Mother Earth, striving to slough off outworn Maya, to give birth to a new etheric body where ‘Christ-in-me’ holds sway? Fresh formative forces which must 1st grow & flourish in human hearts – Hearts willing to have cosmic thoughts. Hearts willing to evolve a 5th chamber – a womb for love & wisdom, offered up in freedom…?

We are so blessed to have Mary Ruud, our local curative eurythmist, giving us weekly seminars every Wednesday night, working with the planets, the zodiac & gestures for healing during this time. She says the gesture for I (E) helps ‘oppose fear of the environment’ & ‘strengthens the lungs.  For health we all need to breathe out, to let go. In addition the gestures L, L, L, Ah, O, M – increases our breathing capacity.

The Eurythmy Figures | Rudolf steiner, Waldorf education, Waldorf ...

I have been working since 2 Easter’s ago with Hope U -which Steiner says ‘warms the breathing’; Love A – good for circulation. Steiner says ‘Fill yourself with the feeling of Love’ streaming thru the blood; & Ah-Ha Wonder, promoting a sense of devotion, reverence & awe. Steiner says this gesture builds our resistance to illness.

Tone wise, Mary also gave us the ‘Spiritual Intermezzo’ the 7th, 6th, 3rd, 2nd, done with the gestures for TAU to make the etheric body flexible.

Mary Ruud will hold a zoom eurythmy class every Wednesday evening from 7 – 8 pm CST. – URL: https://zoom.us/j/312499990 – By phone: 1-312-626-6799, Meeting ID: 312-499-990

Dear Friends, forgive this post coming so late in the day, I am feverishly working on a pageant for Easter Sunday & my presentation for the Sacred Gateway, where I will present my vast research exploring what Spiritual Science has to say about the connection between ourselves, those across the threshold, & the causes of viral epidemics on earth. So in the session on Saturday April 18th, we will grapple with How to find the karmic connections that shape current events. Our work with those on the ‘Other-side’ will give us answers about the causes & purpose of illness & the ways of healing ourselves, our beloved dead, & Mother Earth.

But for now here are the rhythms of the Foundation Stone Meditation for Thursday:

Here is are some very important insights: What is the Social – Healing – Gesture Needed? By Dr. Ali Givens and Michael Givens

Rhythms

Duals of Regular Polyhedra

Dear friends – In early March when the Corona virus was coming into consciousness, we started an initiative to do the Hallelujah in Eurythmy & the Foundation Stone Meditation at Sunrise (or anytime) everyday.

Steiner, Rudolf - Erstes Goetheanum, Dornach (First Goetheanum ...

This is something I have been doing for many years, although the eurythmy often changes according to my needs of the moment. Then during the Holy Nights I decided to take up working with the ‘Rhythms’ of the Foundation Stone Meditation, which I had never done before.

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is Rhythms-of-the-FSM-PP-slide-info.png

I have heard that many folks find speaking the entire FSM to be too much to hold, so doing the Rhythms, is a great way to take it in. And I have come to find that it has deepened my understanding of this powerful gift from Rudolf Steiner. So I thought to share Steiner’s Black Board drawings that I got from Verena Buob who brought her many years of experience to us in a workshop at the last AGM in Atlanta. For Verena, contemplating the way Steiner presented them is very important for our understanding. I made slides for our Holy Nights meetings that I hope will assist you in your own practice. I’d love to hear what insights arise for you…

26 March 2020– “Speaking with the Stars”:  Capella, The 6th largest star is high in the northwest during &after dusk. Capella is called ‘the Little She-goat‘ that the Charioteer is carrying on his left shoulder.

The early Arabs called it Al Rakib, the Driver; since, lying far to the north, it was prominent in the evening sky before other stars became visible: “The singer riding before the procession, who cheers the camels with song urging them on,” which refereed to the Pleiades, regarded as a troop of camels to be herded. It served, too, the same purpose for worship in Greece, where it may have been the orientation point of a temple at Eleusis to the goddess Diana Propyla.

Rudolf Steiner’s Lectures on this day

ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY

1812 – Caracas earthquake took place in Venezuela on what was Maundy Thursday killing over 20,000 people. The seismic movement was so drastic that in a zone named Valecillo a new lake was formed & the river Yurubí was dammed up. Numerous rivulets changed their course in the valley of Caracas, which was flooded with dirty water. The earthquake consisted of two seismic shocks occurring within the span of 30 minutes. The first destroyed Caracas & the second Mérida, where it was raining when the shock occurred. Since the earthquake occurred on Maundy Thursday, while the Venezuelan War of Independence was raging, it was explained by royalist authorities as divine punishment for the rebellion against the Spanish Crown.

1812 – A political cartoon in the Boston Gazette coins the term “gerrymander” to describe oddly shaped electoral districts designed to help incumbents win reelection.

1827 – Death-Day of Ludwig van Beethoven, German pianist & composer

1830 – The Book of Mormon is published in Palmyra, New York.

1856 – Birthday of Fritz Lemmermayer, an Austrian writer, journalist & closest childhood friend of Rudolf Steiner in Vienna. Fritz was a passionate anti-materialist, he wanted to devote his life to the creation & maintenance of spiritual values. In 1883 he completed his novel “The Alchemist”. Rudolf Steiner met Lemmermayer again in 1886 in the circle of the poet Marie Eugenie delle Grazie.  An extensive correspondence attests to the close friendship between the two (see GA 38).

Steiner says: Fritz Lemmermayer, with whom I was later on terms of intimate friendship, I came to know at one of delle Grazie’s afternoons. A highly noteworthy man. Whatever interested him he expressed with inwardly measured dignity. In his outward appearance he resembled equally the musician Rubinstein and the actor Lewinsky. With Hebbel he developed almost a cult. He had definite views on art and life born out of the sagacious understanding of the heart, and these were unusually fixed. He had written the interesting and profound romance, Der Alchemist(3), and much besides that was characterized by beauty and depth. He knew how to consider the least things in life from the view-point of the most vital. I recall how I once saw him in his charming little room in a side-street in Vienna together with other friends. He had planned his meal: two soft-boiled eggs, to be cooked in an instantaneous boiler, together with bread. He remarked with much emphasis while the water was heating to boil the eggs for us: “This will be delicious!” In a later phase of my life I shall again have occasion to speak of him ~Rudolf Steiner, The Story of My Life, Chapter VII Lemmermayer & Steiner joined the ranks of the Viennese artist circle in the house of the protestant priest Alfred Formey. In 1891 Lemmermayer was vice president of Schrifstellerbundes Iduna , named after Iduna , the Norse goddess of youth & immortality a counterweight against the currents of naturalism. Lemmermayer  became a member of the Anthroposophical Society  in 1920. He Steiner on many trips through Austria, Germany, Switzerland, France, Holland & England.  This led to his 1929 published memories,  where he spoke about Rudolf Steiner, Robert Hamerling & other personalities of the Austrian intellectual life of the 80s. In addition, Lemmermayer published in the weekly ” Das Goetheanum “.

POD (Poem Of the Day)

~O my soul
A winter sparrow that won’t rest
Wishing for warmth among bent feathers
Seized-songs rush
Shrill in my throat
Spreading sparks off my wings
Love forming a note
Flowing thru
Hollow bones I fly
From yesterday
The sun caught in the amber
O my hazel eye

24 March 2020 – “Speaking with the Stars”: Today Bella Luna is gathering secrets from the Underworld – at this time of her disappearance, we say that it is New Moon. The perfect time to name what it is you want to see grow into fullness.

East of the Sun, we can engage with ‘an apparition of Venus’ at ‘greatest elongation’- the maximum angular distance from the Sun, enhancing Her Light as the “Evening Star”.

We also have a visitor: Comet Atlas is streaking by Draco, the dragon, next to the big bear.

The forces present in Bacteria, and whatever bacteria do, are a consequence of ahrimanic hosts of heaven having been cast down upon the earth, of the dragon having been conquered. Another consequence of that victory is that the Ahrimanic-Mephistophelian way of thinking has been spreading across the earth since the end the 19th century. We can therefore say that on the physical level diseases involving bacteria and equally also present day intellectual materialism have their source in the realm of soul and spirit. In a higher sense the two things are most certainly comparable.” ~Rudolf Steiner, Donarch, 14 October 1917, GA 177

A hundred years ago in the time of Rudolf Steiner, the word ‘virus’ was relatively new to medical science. We also have to remember that bacteria or similar entities’ can be either Ahrimanic or Luciferic.

Many astrologers have been pointing an accusing finger at the current planetary traffic jam in Capricorn, with the Saturn-Pluto conjunction as the main culprit in our present pandemic, with good ol’ Mars helping it along. Neptune in Pisces has a correlation with contagion too. How can we as human beings strive to be an active speaker in this the cosmic conversation, adding our good will to the mix?

From an article by Dr Elizabeth Vreede: ” Comets represent an element that does not wholly enter the usual sphere of cosmic law, although they still contain a trace of the direct working of spiritual powers, indeed, of the very highest — the Seraphim and Cherubim. Before ordinary law may be broken through, the very highest power and insight is required. The various comets, indeed, are agents of a very special nature in our planetary system, their polar antithesis being in the moons. Just as the moons are a kind of corpse which the planetary system trails along with it, so, on the other side, the comets may be spoken of as constant purifiers of the spiritual atmosphere within the solar system. In earlier times men thought of them as the “scavengers of God,” and many superstitions have gathered around them. To the eye of Spirit, too, the mission of the comets is perpetually to expel impure astral forces from the Cosmos or to introduce new impulses.

Our dear Dr. Steiner said: ‘It is not the Christ we lack, but the knowledge of Christ, the Sophia of Christ, the Isis of Christ we are lacking.’ In ‘Ancient Myths and the New Isis Mystery: Their Meaning and Connection with Evolution’ Lecture 3; given in Dornach, 6 January 1918, by Rudolf Steiner; we hear how the power of ‘The Word, the power of The Logos’, must be resurrected through our striving to activate the Wisdom of Anthroposophia within each of us. Join Hazel Archer-Ginsberg for a powerful presentation Lifting the Veil of the New Isis-Sophia, to bring Light to Love.

Face my face

Shelly Earl

Beloved Friends – I am standing with you, & all of humanity; called to face the ‘Guardian of the Threshold’. Not all of us are conscious of this faithful encounter. But for me, it is feels like a reckoning, an uncomfortable inspection of the good, the bad & the ugly parts of my being; those places where I ‘miss the mark’; the bad habits & false pride. I think of how Rudolf Steiner said that if there had been ‘4 times 12 true anthroposophist’s’, WW1 & thereby all the subsequent wars, could have been avoided. And when I ask myself if could be counted in that number, I find myself sorely lacking, & it pains me. I want to stop wrestling with my angel, & just embrace this opportunity that the current world situation is providing. How can I make straight the path? How can I avoid the abyss & bring healing to my dis-ease, which is also reflected in the world around me? How can I be of service to humankind, a pure vessel for Anthroposophia? -When suddenly my daily meditations aren’t enough to get me through the dark nights. I can’t force anything, & yet I cannot give in, or let the astral noise drown me.

I must be patient & learn to be still, taking my practices deeper. Remembering how eternally grateful I am, that my karma has brought me to Spiritual Science, & to all of you. I am working hard to visualize this, to reinforce the affirmation, that yes, I am a striving human being, I am where I am, I have come far & I have far to go. And this ongoing path of initiation is not meant to be a walk in the park, it is a practice that must lead thru a ‘death process’, so that I can meet myself in the Underworld, to redeem those lost shadow parts of my being, that long for the light of a New Resurrection, achieved thru honest labor & grace.

Friends, I pray that we will continue to give birth, each in our own ways, to the being of Anthroposophia within, so that together, in wholeness, we can stand on a firm foundation, to usher in what could be seen as a New ‘World Time Turning Beginning’, bringing light to love, opening the way thru the heart-thinking of Michael, to the etheric Christ.

Image result for big dipper painting

21 March 2020 – “Speaking with the Stars”: The Big Dipper glitters high in the northeast after nightfall, standing on its handle. You probably know that the two stars forming the front of the Dipper’s bowl (currently on top) are the Pointers; they point to Polaris, currently to their left. And, you may know that if you follow the curve of the Dipper’s handle out & around by a little more than a Dipper length, you’ll arc to Arcturus, now rising in the east. But did you know that if you follow the Pointers backward the opposite way, you’ll land in Leo? Draw a line diagonally across the Dipper’s bowl from where the handle is attached, continue far on, & you’ll go to Gemini. And, look at the two stars forming the open top of the Dipper’s bowl. Follow this line past the bowl’s lip far across the sky, & you cruise to Capella.

Rudolf Steiner’s Lectures on this day

ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY

Nicholas-Flue.jpg

1417 – 1487 Birth & Death & Feast Day of St Nicholas of Flüe a Swiss hermit & ascetic who is the patron saint of Switzerland. He is sometimes invoked as Brother Klaus. A farmer, councilor, judge & mystic, he was respected as a man of complete moral integrity. Rudolf Steiner calls him ‘a hero in the spirit’ & tells us ‘he foresaw his baptism in the womb.’

1800 – With the church leadership driven out of Rome during an armed conflict, Pius VII is crowned Pope in Venice with a temporary papal tiara made of papier-mâché.

1893 – Birthday of Eugen Kolisko, remembered for his pioneer work in anthroposophy, was an Austrian-German physician & educator. He studied medicine at the University of Vienna, & became a lecturer of medical chemistry. Eugen Kolisko was introduced to anthroposophy through his classmate, Walter Johannes Stein. In 1914, he first attended lectures given by Rudolf Steiner. Consequently, he became a member of the Anthroposophical Society, & in 1920 was invited as an instructor to the newly established Waldorf School at Stuttgart by Emil Molt. Kolisko specialized in preventative medicine, & at the Waldorf School he worked with other teachers in creating a curriculum that focused on the spiritual & physical development of school children. He was instrumental in construction of several artistic therapies, such as anthroposophic music therapy & eurythmy. During the 1930s, he left the Waldorf School in Stuttgart because of the Nazis, relocating to England in 1936, where he undertook the establishment of a private educational institute. Eugen Kolisko was the author of numerous written works

1918 – With the Spanish Flu just starting to make its appearance during World War I: The first phase of the German Spring Offensive, Operation Michael, begins.

1895 – Deathday of William Q. Judge, born in Dublin. He was brought up a Methodist, but early showed strong occult tendencies. The family migrated to New York, in 1864. Judge became an American citizen at 21. He worked as a clerk at an early age as he had to be self-supporting. Hhe married in 1874, & had one daughter who died of diphtheria. At the time of the formation of The Theosophical Society he was a law clerk in the office of the U.S. Attorney for the S. District of New York. He was later admitted to the Bar, & made a specialty of Commercial Law. He was modest, unassuming, eager for occult instruction & ready to work. At first H.P. Blavatsky objected to Judge becoming a Councillor, but he won her friendly regard & kept it. He developed leadership, & became one of the most important figures in The Theosophical Society. William Quan Judge served as editor of the periodical, The Path, from 1886-1896. “To try on the one hand to point out to their fellows a Path in which they have found hope for man, and on the other to investigate all systems of ethics and philosophy claiming to lead directly to such a path, regardless of the possibility that the highway may, after all, be in another direction from the one in which they are looking.” Then difficulties arose, & he led the secession of the majority of American Lodges, in 1895.

1925 – The Butler Act prohibits the teaching of human evolution in Tennessee.

Dear Friends – O the glories of Spring – & the power of the Bio-Dynamic Preparations! I am energized from our ‘Merry Prep-stir’ event last night, which truly was a gorilla gathering because of last minute changes. I ran to the branch & reached out to Dottie Zold, who was supposed to be taking a night off, a cozy, go to bed early, take-care-of-self night, but I roused her from her rest, & the 1st thing she said was: ‘Do you need me to support you’! ‘Yes’, I cried relived, since everything planned had suddenly shifted as of a half hour before start time! So…we thought, perhaps we are supposed to do the stir in Elderberries instead of the branch? In hindsight it all makes sense since it is ‘Elderberries Bio-Dynamic Outpost’ after all!

Photos from the night

6 stalwart souls, created a circle in the storefront window, including my daughter, who is home, because Oberlin College has been closed down till fall.

2 folks had never stirred before, so we spoke a bit about what Bio-Dynamics is, & about the recent Prep-Makers Gathering. We made a blessing on the gifted BD 500 prep, & added a pinch of sacred soil gathered by Angel Foster from her many travels, including our recent Southern Tour, & started the alchemical stir. Deborah Rogers showed the newbies how to make the ‘vortex’, & we each took it for a spin.

Andrew Gonzalez.

How exciting to be the creator of a cosmic portal syphoning the heavens into the earthly elements, for transformation & healing. We sang & laughed & shared, knowing we were vessels, a bridge between the above & below. Bringing in the imagination of the Vernal Equinox increased our sense for balance. What a joyful legacy Rudolf Steiner has given us in this practical work.

After an hour we completed the stir, standing in a circle holding hands, watching the vortex swirl. In the slowing, a bubbling mandala formed at the center, which seemed to sing with light.

We ladled the medicine out into individual jars & ventured out in the warm misty cityscape to do the work of spiritualizing the earth.

Ravens come from my eyes –
To eat them…
The breath of life escapes…
When I have no words –
Worms crawl thru my teeth – to clean my palate…

I am more than the deeds I have done –
I am more than I remember…

We Are Faced With a Choice (an excerpt from the article Eight Emerging Lessons: From Coronavirus to Climate Actionby Otto Scharmer)

The coronavirus situation provides an opportunity for all of us to pause, reset, and step up. COVID-19, like any disruption, essentially confronts each of us with a choice: (1) to freeze, turn away from others, only care for ourselves, or (2) to turn toward others to support and comfort those who need help. That choice between acting from ego or acting from ecosystem awareness is one that we face every day, every hour, every moment. The more the world sinks into chaos, desperation, and confusion, the greater our responsibility to radiate presence, compassion, and grounded action confidence.

Two responses to disruption — two social fields

Here are two different social fields that we can choose to embody through our actions, through our relationships, and through our thoughts. In the upper half of the figure you see the “freeze” reaction, which tends to amplify ignorancehate, and fear. In the lower half you see the “opening” response, which tends to amplify curiositycompassion, and courage.

The Conversation We Need To Have Now: Reimagining Our Civilization

Each disruption has two sides: the things we need to let go of, and the things that are about to emerge. On the letting-go side of things, it’s interesting to see how quickly we can adjust as a global community. So why do we keep ourselves busy with stuff that is not essential? That’s a great question to ask.

The next question might be: If we let go of everything that is not essential — what’s left? It’s another great question (or “mantram”) to meditate on. Whatever the answer is that emerges for you from this contemplation, keep it in your heart.

And then, a third question to contemplate might be this: What if we used this disruption as an opportunity to let go of everything that isn’t essential in our life, in our work, and in our institutional routines? How might we reimagine how we live and work together? How might we reimagine the basic structures of our civilization? Which effectively means: how can we reimagine our economic, our democratic, and our learning systems in ways that bridge the ecological, the social, and the spiritual divides of our time?

That’s the conversation we need to have now. With our circles of friends. With our families. With our organizations and communities.

Rachel Hentsch

The outer changes necessary today require us to tune into and activate our inner sources, the deeper levels of our humanity. How can we activate them not only at the level of the individual, but also at the level of the whole system? How can we upgrade the operating system in our various key systems? This clearly requires us to upgrade:

1. our learning infrastructures toward whole-person and whole-systems learning;

2. our democratic infrastructures by making them more direct, distributed, and dialogic; and

3. our economic infrastructures toward shifting from ego-system to eco-system awareness.

How might we use our present situation to slow down, to pause, and to connect with our deeper sources of stillness?

What actually emerges from the now? We may see the beginnings of a new wave of hyper-localizing our economies, of supporting small farmers and producers who may be more resilient to supply chain disruptions. We may see the beginnings of a more intentional economy, one that — similar to CSAs (Community Supported Agriculture) — is based on aligning economic activities around a shared intention for the future, namely, co-creating an ecosystem-centric agriculture, as opposed to extending the past based on ego-driven transactions.

8. School For Transformation: Activating Generative Social Fields

Many of us feel that we live in a time of profound change — change not only in terms of things ending, but also in terms of seeding and cultivating and growing a new civilization for the decades and centuries to come. That was true before the COVID-19 pandemic, and it will be true after. The question is how to respond to the current situation in ways that help this enormous potential for positive change to manifest?

Which leaves us with the question: Now what? In my view, one of the most urgent priorities for the coming years is to cultivate these deeper conditions for our individual and collective actions in ways that are highly accessible, scalable, and modularized so that everyone can integrate them into their own movement building and learning infrastructures.

Olaf Baldini

GAIA: Global Activation of Intention and Action

It is for this reason that, starting next week, my colleagues and I are going to offer an impromptu global learning infrastructure that is free, online, Zoom-based and yet designed in ways that will activate generative social fields among all of the participants throughout the coming weeks. The idea is to offer this infrastructure as a journey for change-makers from all sectors, systems, and cultures — a journey that will eventually result in a global, multi-local, multi-regional Forum, co-created among the participants later this year in July.

The actual format of this journey and the Forum will evolve with and adjust to the situation that keeps unfolding around us, between us, and within us. It’s an infrastructure that invites you to join with your whole Self and that is designed to be accessible to all, whether you want to join from home while in self-quarantine or in concert with friends and fellow change-makers in your local organization or community.

If you are interested to join, check out this landing page for the journey: Global Activation of Intention and Action (GAIA) and sign up for the first session on Friday March 27. The time to pause, to sense, to connect, and then act together is now.

“Imagine a people which was composed entirely of liars, the astral plane would be populated solely by the corresponding demons and these demons would be able to express themselves in a constitutional tendency to epidemics. Thus there is a certain species of bacilli who are the carriers of infectious diseases; these beings are the progeny of the lies told by human beings; they are nothing else than physically embodied demons generated by lies.” (GA 99 – L.6)
