10:10 Testament – The Thought-Seed Project: It’s been awhile since we checked in around our ‘Egregore’ – our collective ‘Thought-Form’ of Good Will – our “key-call” to the powers on the Inner Planes, to enlist their aid.
Through our continued intention to visualize the human being as a star & the Earth as a Sun*, our positive egregore grows between the material & spiritual worlds & is connected to both.
At the re-founding of the Anthroposophical Society, Rudolf Steiner connected not only his own karma, but ‘the Movement’ – i.e. The Spiritual Beings working behind the impulse of Anthroposophia – with the Society & its members. This impulse extends beyond the usual limits of space/time, connecting the eternal with the temporal. Our goal is to co-create a new ‘Group-Soul United in Christ’ thru our daily 10:10 meditation.

“Had the Event of Golgotha not occurred, the earth and the sun would never be able to reunite. For through the Event of Golgotha, which bound the force of the Elohim in the sun to the earth — in other words the force of the Logos — the impulse was given which will again eventually impel one Logos-force toward the other, and finally once more unite them — sun and earth — in one body.
Since the Event of Golgotha, the earth, spiritually observed, is possessed of the force to draw the sun again into a unity with it.
Therefore it can be said that through this great Event, the force of the Logos, which formerly radiated down upon the earth from without, was now taken up into its spiritual being.
The question may be asked, what existed previously within the body of the earth? It was that force which streamed down upon it from the sun. I knew that this was your issue; the word “coerced”, and yet I think it is very appropriate. You see, as the story goes, it was when Steiner was in Holland for the founding of the Anthroposophical Society there, that he made the commitment to found the General Anthroposophical Society.

According to sources, it was Ita Wegman on November 17, 1923, who in hearing that Rudolf Steiner was considering retiring, in order to become a kind of professor emeritus, said, “Why not just found the society you had in mind in the first place”? “Who else can lead us”? So, according to letters from GA 262, he had Marie go to Berlin in order to wrap up affairs there, which involved the transport of thousands of book from Berlin to Dornach, while he prepared the CC of 1923. So, you see, he was equally encouraged by this suggestion from Ita. Yet, she was a force to be reckoned with.
Now, whether this was coercion, or a mere suggestion, the force had the right intent, don’t you agree? Steiner turned with wholeheartedness in the direction of taking on the mission of becoming the leader of a what had been a kind of make-ship operation until then. He was determined to do a make-over, and experience the consequences.

I want to say something about the refounding of the Anthroposophical Society at the end of 1923. It wasn’t really a refounding, but a founding! You see, Rudolf Steiner had refrained from being the leader of the AS, which began in 1913. He chose, instead, to be the spiritual teacher, while leaving it to others to deal with the administrative matters, i.e., Marie von Sivers, Michael Bauer, and Carl Unger. So, by 1923, he was coerced into taking on the presidency with Ita Wegman’s encouragement. He actually wanted to retire, but her encouragement made him reconsider.
So, the CC of 1923 is his own resolve to take on the entire administrative matters of the General Anthroposophical Society. In the aftermath, in several places, he tells of why he had not been the leader, and not even a member of the fledgling AS since 1913. He calls himself “the lowest of the low in not even being a member”, and then explains it.
In 1913, after the dissolving of the German Section of the Theosophical Society in 1912, which Rudolf Steiner was President, he chose to allow others to lead while he taught. He says that he wanted to see what kind of inner strength existed in order to lead from the ranks. Since it never happened, he had to give the course GA 257, after the burning in order to gently chastise those that had failed while he stood in the background.
I think he realized with GA 257 that he should have been leader from the beginning. Yet, the expulsion in 1912 was a blow that affected his own personal ego. He chose to teach and see what an other came out of the mold. Since none did, it came down to Ita’s suggestion, and he could not refuse. Thus, we have our centennial event in two years.
I don’t see it the same way. Steiner was never coerced. He put a question to the spiritual world. And out of himself he chose to unite his karma with the karma of the society so that the movement – i.e. the spiritual powers behind the impulse could connect the esoteric to the exoteric. Ita Wegman was part of this, for her question was: Could they bring in the new mysteries? The Being of Anthroposophia was born from this deed, affirming his free willing – opening the veil that had been closed at the time of the twilight of the gods. And from there he went on to found many impulses in the world including the 1st Class, & biodynamics. His deed at the re-founding was the opposite of this idea of a blow to his ego. The expulsion from the Theosophists was always meant to be, because the Western Mysteries needed to be infused with the Christ impulse. Yes, he was let down by the anthroposophist’s of his day & this led to the burning & the depletion of his etheric forces which led to his early death, but that was part of his willing sacrifice. And to this day his Christ imbued sheaths can work thru our soul forces if we receive them with good will.
There are a few places where Steiner describes the situation of an official founding at 1923.
“It was a difficult decision to put someone who was practically lowest at the head of the Society but that is what actually happened. When the Anthroposophical Society was founded in 1912-13, I held no office in it; indeed I was not even a Member. Nor was I a Member afterwards. I have often emphasized this but it has been misunderstood. I wanted the Anthroposophical Society to have me only as teacher, as one who could lead to the sources of anthroposophical life. The attempt had to be made in order to see what would come of it. What has happened is that at the age when people usually retire, I have to make a beginning, for in fact I regard the Christmas Meeting as a beginning, a genuine beginning in life. And I would like you too to feel that we are at a beginning. If you feel like this then you may expect results from this beginning in which there are great possibilities. It is only from necessity that I have become a Member, in fact President of the Anthroposophical Society, and I sincerely hope that the significance of the Christmas Meeting will be realised. If this comes about it may perhaps be possible, as a result of this attempt, and with the cooperation of everyone with what will go out from Dornach, for genuine anthroposophical life to flow through the Society.” GA 240, 6 February 1924
