The Word Renewed

I have been ruminating on our 1^st session of ‘Roots & Renewal’ thinking about how the Mysteries of Ephesus were an initiation into ‘The Word’ in its cosmic aspect. How the burning of the Temple occurring as it did on the birthday of Alexander the Great, inscribed this Cosmic Word into the etheric realms around the Earth, adding to the starry script, & imprinting a divine destiny into Alexander’s natal chart. Aristotle, his teacher was able to read this in the Akashic records – pulling it down into his pupil’s lessons & condensing it into what we call his ‘Categories’.

At the turning Point of Time ‘The Word became flesh’ & John the Evangelist, the Beloved Disciple, was able thru The Sophia – The Mother of Christ Jesus – to bring us his Johannine literature – The Gospel of John, Epistles of John, & the Book of Revelation.

The Goetheanum which burnt down 100 years ago was originally called Johannes Bau = The House of the Word. Dear friends, WE are called to read what was inscribed into the ethers thru this 2^nd burning of the House of the Word. We must find the connections between these 2 Temple sacrifices, to piece together the cosmic puzzle that will awaken us to our highest destiny.

Rudolf Steiner, the reincarnated Aristotle, spoke about the statue of the ‘Representative of Humanity’ as being a veil behind which dwells the New Isis-Sophia – a transformation of Artemis – a renewal of the cosmic principle which stood at the heart of the Mysteries of Ephesus.

To lift the veil we must embody Anthroposophia & renew The Word within.

When we work with Michael we weave the thoughts that in primordial beginnings were one with the Logos, & to which we turn thru the words:

“In the Primal Beginning was the Word
And the Word was with God
And a God was the Word.
The same was in the Primal Beginning with God.
It was there where all things came into being,
And nothing came into being but through the Word.
In the Word was the Life, and the Life was the Light of men

In the Primal Beginning is the Thought,
And the Thought is with God,
And a God-like being is the Thought.
In it is Life,
And the Life shall become the Light of my Ego.
And may the Divine Thought shine into my Ego
That the darkness of my Ego may grasp the Thought Divine.

In the Primal Beginning is the Thought,
And Infinite is the Thought.
And the Life of the Thought is the Light of the Ego.
May light-giving Thought fill the Darkness of my Ego,
That the Darkness of my Ego may grasp the Living Thought
And live and weave in its Divine Primal Beginning.

In the Primal Beginning is Memory,
And the Memory lives on further,
And Divine is the Memory.
And the Memory is Life.
And this Life is the Ego of Man
Which streams into Man himself,
Not he alone, the Christ in him.
When he remembers the Divine Life
In his Memory is the Christ.
And as the radiant Life of Memory
Christ will pour Light
Into every Darkness of the immediate present.

In the Primal Beginning was the power of Memory.
The power of Memory shall become Divine;
And a Divinity shall the power of Memory become.
All that arises within the Ego shall become
Something which has arisen
Out of the Christ-permeated, God-permeated Memory.
In it shall be the Life;
In it shall be the radiant Light
Which, out of the Thinking which remembers,
Shines into the Darkness of the present time.
May that Darkness as it is to-day
Comprehend the Light of the Memory which has become Divine!

About our instructor: Veronika Roemer

In her own words she says “Music speaks to our souls, and through its three basic elements of melody, harmony, and rhythm, it speaks directly to our three soul forces of thinking, feeling, and willing. When making music, we are always encountering all three of these forces in an interweaving, harmonious process. Music is nourishment for our souls.” In this workshop she will be introducing participants to these instruments and illustrating the following characteristics that make them essential “for our time”. In short, she will show how

the “sound quality brings healing to the inner ear” and helps the listener reconnect to their inner musician.
the “technical ease of the instruments” makes them accessible to everyone.
the “movements in space make musical realities visible, like the movement from tone to tone, or of one chord to the next.”
the “group processes reconnect people. Because connections are built through music and not talking, the social aspects of the group processes are more subtle offering an extra bonus to the musical work”. Finally, music lifts the mood and allows people to laugh and enjoy themselves and others.

Veronika has extensive training and experience. Her initial training was gained at the Musikakademie in Basel and Musikhochschule in Zurich Switzerland inclusive of orchestral and string quartet performance in Europe followed by a student Foundation year at Emerson College and five additional years teaching and instructing for them as faculty. She also has multiple years of study and instruction at the Dorian School of Music Therapy. From 1998-2013 she was a resident and co-worker at Camphill Village Kimberton Hills developing a music program for adults with developmental disabilities continuing as an instructor for the group through 2021 as well as instructing for the Camphill Academy at Beaver Run and at the Kimberton Waldorf School. Currently she is a founding faculty member for the SunGate Educational Community and active member of the Lyre Association of North America. Wherever she goes she is happiest to be making music with people.

Veronika is returning to visit us in Wisconsin where she lived (in Wales) from 1990-1998 and had a connection to the Prairie Hill Waldorf School. At that time she began her family of five children and was the founding mother of the Rafael Foundation for New Impulses in Music and a local lyre group.

In each workshop session we will sing, play various instruments such as bordun lyres, wood, and metal instruments, do rhythm games and more.

Many anthroposophists have understood the 1923/24 Christmas Foundation Conference as constituting a renewal of the Mysteries. Nine months after the Christmas Conference, speaking to the priests of the Christian Community, Rudolf Steiner pointed to a sequence from the founding of the Christian Community in September 1922 to the burning of the Goetheanum at the end of that year to the Christmas Conference.In this 100th anniversary year of both the founding of the Christian Community and the burning of the Goetheanum, can an exploration of these events help us to understand the nature of the New Mysteries?

The keynote speaker is Daniel Hafner, priest of the Christian Community. He will address this theme with a particular focus on the colored windows of the First Goetheanum.

The Act of Consecration of Man will be celebrated during the week and there will also be a Class Lesson for members of the School of Spiritual Science.

Dear friends – I have been having tech difficulties for the last week on the RR web site, not able to post. I paid to upgrade on my server, & that still didn’t work…grrr…but now I hope this will publish…Work Arhiman, Work! As you know these posts are often quite timely having to do with the aura of the day. Here is what I wrote for 26 July 2022:

As I was waking this morning, on this 8th Anniversary of the death of Sergei O. Prokofieff, I was remembering a dream that I followed all night. Rev. Craig Wiggins & I were in an ornate room with wood paneling, it was very cold. We snuggled up under a bear-skin blanket on a large four-poster bed looking at an old book. Craig was translating it. I’m not sure what language it was in, but it had many Rosicrucian type etchings – symbolic images that spoke volumes. I wish I was an artist & could render those powerful alchemical imaginations that are imprinted in my minds eye. They had something to do with Sergei – his biography – his past & future lives..?

Sergei Olegovitch Prokofieff
16 January 1954 – † 26 July 2014

Sergei O. Prokofieff was the 1^st to confirm my connection with the New Isis. And his dedication to the 1^st Class Lessons birthed in me a true knowing. He opened for me the living reality of the ‘New Mysteries’, revealing the relationship of the Christ-Sophia in this Michael age, with Rudolf Steiner & Christian Rosenkreutz, which we as human beings are called to explore & develop. “The Cycle of the Year as a Path of Initiation – A Esoteric Study of the Festivals” is my Bible – my calling, my life’s work. “The Occult Significance of Forgiveness” changed my life (I am of course still striving here) And the massive work “May Human Beings Hear It” which convinced me to dedicate myself to the Foundation Stone Meditation, has kept me involved in the Anthroposophical Society, when the human failings & karmic knots would have driven me away; pointing up the living reality of the Christmas Conference, which I feel a personal & collective responsibility to fulfill.

My heart spills over with gratitude for this true initiate, this true anthroposopher, this true human being, who continues to be my mentor from across the Threshold.

“Anthroposophia seeks to become a new group-soul for that part of humankind which is united within the General Anthroposophical Society founded by Rudolf Steiner at the Christmas Conference of 1923-24, thereby representing a kind of archetype for the whole of future evolution & at the same time initiating that universally human process which Rudolf Steiner described in the following words: ‘When people gather together in voluntary associations, they group themselves around focal points. The feelings that stream together at such a focal point now gives Beings the opportunity to work as a kind of group-soul, though in a completely different sense from the former unconscious group-souls. All previous group-souls were beings who made man unfree. These New Beings, however, are wholly compatible with the freedom & preservation of human individuality’.

Anthroposophia would seek to become the 1^st of these Beings in our time. However, whether this is possible depends not on this Being alone, but also on human beings.

Thus by uniting with one another in the General Anthroposophical Society out of a love for Anthroposophia & a wish to serve her as a real, living Being, anthroposophist’s throughout the world have the task of together creating on Earth something akin to an all embracing soul-chalice into which this supersensible Being, the youngest member of the heavenly Sophia, can descend. And this means none other than the beginning of the incarnation of the heavenly Sophia on Earth. (this will come about in the 7^th epoch, but of which we must prepare now)

Only from this grandiose perspective can we really understand the inner significance of the deed wrought by Rudolf Steiner at the Christmas Conference, a deed which represents the high-point & culmination of the entire 21 year development of the anthroposophical movement (1902-23) – a ‘Turning Point of Time’ – For it signified the birth on Earth of her ego in the sheaths of the General Anthroposophical Society. In this way the foundation was laid, or-one could say-the possibility created, for the further working of Anthroposophia in the midst as a New Group-Soul.” ~Sergei O. May we take up this task to give birth to Anthroposophia, this Being of Human Wisdom, within ourselves, to serve the world.

Sergei Olegovitch was the grandson of the composer Sergei Prokofiev. Born in Moscow, he studied fine arts & painting at the Moscow School of Art. He encountered anthroposophy in his youth, & soon made the decision to devote his life to it. Prokofieff, wrote his first book, Rudolf Steiner and the Founding of the New Mysteries, while living in Soviet Russia. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, he was a co-founder of the Anthroposophical Society in Russia. At Easter 2001, he became a member of the Executive Council of the General Anthroposophical Society in Dornach, Switzerland. Prokofieff was a prolific author; at the core of his work is an attempt to develop a deepened understanding for Christianity on the basis of Rudolf Steiner’s spiritual-scientific research. Prokofieff left us a treasure trove of Works

A peek into the Divine Blueprint: It is the intention of the mighty Being we call Michael – our Time Spirit holding the gestalt of our age – that cosmic intelligence stream thru the hearts of human beings, to consciously connect us to the same divine spiritual forces that helped to create humanity in the beginnings of time.

It has become possible for souls aligned with Michael to be engaged in a goal-oriented schooling for initiation, to enter into a closer working with the hierarchies & the etheric Christ, who reveals Himself today as an angel embodying the ethers. It is Michael’s aim that the spiritual schooling will lead to heart-knowledge & that the etheric eye of the heart will become an organ of cognition.

We are given much instruction in the Michael-Letters:
“The Christ-force imprints human imaginations into the cosmic ether.”

“That which man experiences as strength of conscious imagination becomes world content.”

“Hearts begin to have thoughts, that is the new way of thinking with the heart.”

“The newly developed heart-organ slowly transforms into an eye, or better, a sensing-heart-eye-organ.”

“Everyone who strives in the light of spiritual science and connects himself with the creative World-Logos through heartfelt thoughts, sooner or later will learn to read Karma. By doing so he adds to the substance of the etheric-youth or angel-being through which the etheric Christ reveals Himself today.”

For spiritually active pupils in the Michaelic stream, the heart becomes: An eye for self-cognition, the realization of the true self as eternal being; it also becomes the eye of the Ego-sense, the true ‘I’ – which perceives the ‘other’ in their true being, an eye of cognition for supersensible beings & for the etheric Christ Himself, protected & cherished in the Michaelic mystery-culture of will; it will also become possible to perceive the karma of others as well as one’s own karmic chain.

On Rudolf Steiner’s 63rd birthday he gave the following meditation to Dr. Ita Wegman:
“Hearts will read karma
When hearts learn
To read the Word
Which shapes things
In human lives
When hearts learn
To utter the Word
Which shapes things
In the human world.”

We experience our own Self & those connected to us, in our eternal being. When our heart-sense becomes a cognitive organ, we feel as if our heart is being transplanted into the Sun, we feel as if we go with the Sun, the Sun is in us, belonging to us. The Sun becomes our eye, our ear as well as our organ of warmth.

“We stand within the light, we touch spirit-beings with our light-organs.” Then we not only feel ourselves within the Sun but we perceive ourselves “on the other side of the Sun”. We experience the world within our being, where previously it was outside of ourselves, around us.

This is a powerful esoteric call to each pupil of Michael, to help in the creation of a new Sun-Earth. In this way the secret of the Grail lives – as Christian Morgenstern says: “I lift my heart to you as a true vessel of the Grail …”

It is the experience of being totally imbued with the spirit of eternity which fills the receiving Grail-Soul in a cultic spirit event, a ‘reverse-ritual’, at the Sun-altar. Here Spirit & Soul truly unite. It is the Michaelic path to the heavenly city of the New Jerusalem.

Deepening the Grail

Lately I have been finding it hard to live the life of a consistent, focused meditant. Summer often has that effect on my concentration. Although every day I try to tune into the 10:10 Thought-Seed Meditation, even if it’s just for a few minutes. My work with the 6 ‘Basic Exercises’ has been more general, on a ‘as needed’ basis lately (O equanimity my old elusive friend don’t leave me now 😉

My Circle Meditation is more structured, which helps me keep a good grounded rhythm. These powerful mantras done 3x’s a day, given by Rudolf Steiner to the Youth 100 years ago this October, connect me with the Michaelic forces, ever enlivened by the seasonal energies, to combine personal development with the social & cultic aspects of Spiritual Science. More & more as I get older (yep during this St. John’s-Tide I experience my natal return every year) I am feeling the need to essentialize – to use the doubled-edged sword of my thinking to cut away what does not serve. All the unhealthy patterns can no longer be tolerated.

When I look across at the parallels to this phase in my life with my 1^st 7 years, it is as if my heart is being transplanted into the Sun. I feel the Sun is within me, like my heart-sense is becoming a cognitive organ; & that those joined in good will are shining out with it. When I can heal the Sun-spots, my true Sun-Self becomes an eye, an ear, as well as an organ of warmth. “We stand within the light, we touch spirit-beings with our light-organs.” * Then we not only feel part of the Sun, we perceive ourselves “on the other side of the Sun”. * This then allows us to experience the whole universe within our being. And we become the human center point for the joining of the Earth with the Sun.

Dear friends, there is a powerful esoteric call for us to support the creation of a New Sun-Earth. Not a me first earth. This is how the secret of the Grail can be revealed – as Christian Morgenstern says: “I lift my heart to you as a true vessel of the Grail …”* It is an experience of being totally imbued with the Spirit of eternity which fills the receiving soul of the Grail at the Sun-altar. Here Spirit, & the Soul Forces of Thinking, Feeling & Willing, unite. This is the Sophianic / Michaelic reality that we can build – a Temple in the New Jerusalem of the Heart, where the Amfortas in us is healed.

This is the first verse of the Soul Calendar’s second quarter that Karl König describes as the voice of the Baritone, who will now be incarnating spirit with imaginative insight. Many anthroposophists have understood the 1923/24 Christmas Foundation Conference as constituting a renewal of the Mysteries. Nine months after the Christmas Conference, speaking to the priests of the Christian Community, Rudolf Steiner pointed to a sequence from the founding of the Christian Community in September 1922 to the burning of the Goetheanum at the end of that year to the Christmas Conference.In this 100th anniversary year of both the founding of the Christian Community and the burning of the Goetheanum, can an exploration of these events help us to understand the nature of the New Mysteries?

The keynote speaker is Daniel Hafner, priest of the Christian Community. He will address this theme with a particular focus on the colored windows of the First Goetheanum.

The Act of Consecration of Man will be celebrated during the week and there will also be a Class Lesson for members of the School of Spiritual Science.

As we continue to live & move & have our being during this St. John’s-Tide, here in the Heartland we have been experiencing great thunder storms to rival & wash away the spent fire-crackers in the streets, & another mass shooting, this time in Highland Park IL. a wealthy N.W. suburb of Chicago.

The storms sweep across my soul as well, highlighting my personal weather systems – The lightning flashing in to reveal the crack in the godhead made by human hands – Calling for a metanoia that often comes into my life thru karmic relationships. I am reminded of what Christ said to those gathered in judgement, “Let them who are without sin amongst you cast the first stone.”

How many stones have we all witnessed flying around, especially these last few years? If we don’t seek the source of these flying missiles, the force behind the antipathy, the fear that becomes scorn, the hate that becomes revenge – Then the cry of John the Be-headed goes unheard: “Change your mind, change your ways.”

Our thinking needs to be ripened anew, so that we might find a true understanding of one another & of the events happening thru us in the world. We are all stone throwers, except when the Christ is in us. Spiritual Science arouses the need to cultivate this impulse of compassion & courage for the truth, in an honest endeavor to get to the heart of things.

And yet many folks find it difficult to look into the shadows to uncover what is driving the situation. Even when the darkness bursts out into plain sight, it is often mislabeled, mis-directed, re-shrouded – becoming grist for the ever active stone pile.

Anthroposophy asks us to seek out what is lurking in the shadows of our dead thinking. Steiner speaks about the mission of evil & the forces at work against human evolution. How can we start that work within ourselves, softening the stone within our own heart, so that it can be transformed from a weapon – into a force for love…

The good news is the stones don’t let us fall asleep; they help keep us ever striving…

This collection of lectures has been republished by Rudolf Steiner Press under the title: “The Mysteries of the Holy Grail: From Arthur and Parzival to Modern Initiation.”  The book was compiled and edited by Matthew Barton, published by Rudolf Steiner Press in 2010.
