Today we meet the Octave of the Assumption: Tradition celebrates two main feasts of Mary in August. The first is the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary on August 15, & the second is the Feast of the Queenship of Mary on August 22 (also known as The feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary)
The feast of the Assumption has been celebrated since the 5th or 6th century & for many years its festival was extended by an octave.
Our ancestors celebrated all major feasts for eight days = for an octave. Essentially the same liturgy was said, using the same liturgical texts each day of the octave.
The eighth day of the octave was seen as a heightened experience, honoring the spiritual themes of the feast for the last time. For this reason a complimentary feast was often instituted on this eighth day.
When it came to the Assumption, it had an octave celebration for many centuries. Then on May 4, 1944, Pope Pius XII established the feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on August 22, the octave day of the feast of the Assumption. He did this so that by her intercession may be obtained “peace among nations, the love of purity and the practice of virtue.”
However, Pope Paul VI decided to switch the feasts of the Immaculate Heart and the Queenship of Mary. The feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary was joined to the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (celebrated on the Saturday following the feast of the Sacred Heart, typically around the Summer Solstice June 20) and the I’m not one to give authority to Papal Bulls but when it comes to the Mary’s I always seek to bring forth the essence of the Divine Feminine from out the Matrix… was moved to August 22. Mary becomes the “Queen of Heaven.” The power of the Queenship of Mary is that she is a “Queen of Peace.”

“May all recognize more clearly and venerate more devoutly the merciful and maternal sway of the Mother of God. Is she not a rainbow in the clouds reaching towards God, the pledge of a covenant of peace?”
After her Assumption into Heaven, Mary is Queen of Heaven, right there beside her Son, The Being of Love, listening to our prayers. She is the true “Queen of Peace,” who can help us turn the tide of war & conflict thru her powerful intercession.
May we strive to make our hearts Immaculate to share the true Crown of our Queen & become a beacon of Love & peace in our world.

“For once, therefore, a man woke up and saw that what mattered was not to proclaim democracy but to see the full reality, not to follow slogans, but to see things as they are. This would be particularly important today, for people would then realize that the events which reign with such blood and terror over the whole of humanity are guided and directed from just a few centres. People will never realize this if they persist in the delusion that nation is fighting nation, and allow the European and American Press to lull them to sleep over the kinds of relations that are said to exist between nations. Everything said about antagonism and opposition between nations only exists to cast a veil over the true reasons. Mary as the Queen of Heaven reminds me of the verse in Proverbs that tells of what brought delight to Wisdom. Proverbs 8:31 says that while all were “rejoicing in His inhabited world”, her “delight was with the children of men”. The true Mother figure, brooding over these children, while the gods and all others marvelled over the technical and geometrical and numerical wonders of the world and its inhabitants that had just been created.
Yes Proverbs gves us many clues to this Being…

So, this consideration of the Octave has resonated for quite some time. We’ve talked before of how it has its inception with Genesis in the Beginning. As such, the Octave is a resounding, which means fruition after conception. Genesis 2:4 is a highlight.
Not wanting to sort out what comes first – The Assumption, or the Immaculate Heart, we can leave that for those that write papal bulls and encyclicals, this recognition of the Octave working in relation to the number 8 (eight) has a *number* of ramifications worth considering. One of these is the Mercury Revolution, which takes eight years. Another is the Law of Octaves, which was first formulated by Pythagoras as a theory that was invested in “Musica”. This eventually led to an esoteric system coming out of the Russian Folk Soul which employed the dynamics of the Octave for a kind of Etheric Regeneration. And, the recognition of this particular Octave is what leads to the new Clairvoyance, which is associated with Vidar’s mission.
Hazel, there is much mystery schooling and knowledge contained when you speak of the Octave of 8 days here in August. It is very much appreciated for the stimulus. Tomorrow is a remembrance of “Portal of Perception”, c. 8/23/22, and with its 76 comments! Not one of them was a word from me 🙂

One important aspect of Pythagoras, the Wanderer, is that, according to Rudolf Steiner, he went to the East in search of the truth of Eternity about two thousand years after Gilgamesh went to the West in search of the truth of Immortality. They both found a mystery school and teacher. Steiner indicates that Pythagoras was initiated by Zarathas of Chaldea, and in returning home, stopped off at the Mystery of Ephesus at the time of Heraclitus. Thus, he knew the two who would reincarnate later as Aristotle and Alexander. Yes, Pythagoras is highly regarded as the Mystery Man behind the Greek era of Philosophy.

I really needed it then, and you were also feeling illness at the same time. Many items of great importance came forth from a biographical standpoint in finally being able to read these thoughts after the lapse of a year. One of these comments, and it is early on, concerns your finding that GA 136, lecture I, conveys something about Vidar, and yet, Kyle could not find even the name therein. This seems so important because Steiner was in Finland for the first time, and welcoming the Russian members to his movement. Originally, he had planned to give these lectures in Saint Petersburg, Russia, but could not get a visa. So, Finland, where Russians could still go to, became the venue. This is where Steiner gave his first private lecture to the Russians on Thursday, April 11, 1912. He told them then, and for the first time, about their Future mission. Yes, the 6th Cultural Epoch, and this must be where Vidar is situated.
Yet, Steiner had been explaining it even before June 17, 1910. For example, check out the lecture from March 6, 1910, where he describes the Renewed Abraham Epoch. This begins in the 21st century. Very few even mention it today. Here is his greatest appeal for it.

I am wondering today how far we can take this Vidar Festival? It seems important to find what could be the “missing link”, just like Cain found a family of people when he was cast out into the Land of Nod. Today, we know that the Etheric Realm needs to be redeemed in the human body. Vidar has to be seen in the context of the Twilight of the Gods, which is an old Norse legend. Vidar as the silent Aesir is due to his being young, and only coming to his future destiny. His role is to react against the fenris wolf without entirely understanding his mission. Now, we know that Michael is similarly rather silent, even taciturn, but Michael wants to preserve individual human freedom without any sign of overt coercion. So, Michael works as Conscience, and giving good suggestions of what we should do in pursuing Christ. So, what would Vidar be doing in the human psycho-physical system in order to bring about this needed etheric regeneration. Michael, who was an Archangel that has now advanced to Archai, was the preeminent Folk Soul/Spirit working in the era of the Archangels in Earth evolution, as described in the lectures combined in volume GA 121. Now, he is a Time Spirit, and Leader of the Spirits of Personality.
It is all about Personality today, and we have many types because Personality characterizes the Ego, which first formed on Old Saturn, with its differentiating temperatures. On Old Sun, the Archangels first arose by achieving the “Human Condition”, and then on Old Moon, the Angels succeeded in the “Human Condition”. Thus, we can link Vidar to an Angel coming out of Old Moon, who is especially gifted to rise into the ranks of an Archangel, much in the same way that Michael has risen from Archangel to Archai due to his close association with Jahve/Christ over many millennia.
So, I am inspired tonight to keep this line of discussion going. Someone else is interested, and I would like to encourage all comers. I like to write, and so that is easy for me. Reverse Ritual. Yes there is much to ponder with Vidar. The ‘youthful forces’, as Steiner calls them, present in Vidar, represent the etheric formative forces – Vidar took on a vow of silence as a sacrifice to build his power for when it was needed – NOW – let us hear his sacramental speech which pours forth creative selfless love & service. These forces sustain the life of Christ not only in the ethers we share with planet Earth, but in our individual etheric bodies, which are meant to become the Holy Grail worthy to be filled with Christic life.
Uriel the Archangel of Summer is Conscience. Vidar is the bridge between Uriel & Michael.
Working consciously in the etheric realm brings a Christening to the Elemental Beings – this is an important goal of the Michaelmas Festival as the natural world withers & dies – We must consciously work to bring a redemption of the Elemental forces – which then fortifies our etheric selves in the interweaving of a new spiritual skin of protection & discernment that links us to the Etheric Christ – purifying & empowering our speech so that we can Speak again to the Stars – to participate in the transformation of the Earth. For this we must become each other’s keepers.
There is certain substantive evidence that indicates that Kaspar Hauser is the angelic incarnation which brings in the youthful forces of Vidar needed to bring about the new Clairvoyance of the Etheric Christ experience. This article defines what Steiner actually said about the enigmatic Kaspar Hauser in the last days of his life, c. March 3, 1925. He says that KH could not be traced to any human life going back to Atlantean times, which means that he was a singularly angelic incarnation for the purpose of preparing the reenactment of the Mystery of Golgotha in the Etheric World. As well, KH is associated with Christian Rosenkreutz from the beginning, which means his life is a replica of the birth of CR at the midpoint of the 13th century. By the early 19th century, the plan for the renewal of the Etheric Golgotha was in place. Yet, an entirely innocent human being had to be prepared in order to undergo this ordeal, which in the etheric world is far longer in duration than the six hours that encompassed the crucifixion of Christ from 9 am to 3 pm in the physical world.
Thus, KH becomes a kind of forerunner, with a short human incarnation of just 21 years, and then becomes the angel proxy who suffers the suffocation of consciousness on the Cross of the Etheric Golgotha. It is this act which serves to make him the replacement of Michael as Archangel of the Sun. This knowledge would solve the enigma of Kaspar Hauser today, and also prove just how much anthroposophists are still so aligned with materialistic thinking. As such, KH was never developmentally disabled at all, but a shining beacon of his future task as the Vidar Consciousness which Steiner had alerted in the 11th lecture of GA 121, which informs of this young angel with an eye to the future.

We are to work with them. Yes, each has their individual quality, as we do. We have a shared mission & destiny. So we must each add our good will to the tasks at hand.
Understanding the qualities of each is indeed important, it reveals clues into what is needed, it helps us see the connections.
For me, working with the Cycle of the Year as a Path of Initiation helps give me direction so that I don’t get overwhelmed by all the details. I see the whole, & then work with the energies at hand. A few years ago we did a deep dive into Kasper Hauser for our Easter Festival staring with Holy Week & going thru Whitsun with that theme – which then took us into the sphere of other influences, on & on…
