“We should be grateful to people if they treat us badly, because then we can exercise our tolerating forces. We should try to love these people anyway, and we’ll then notice that this is the right thing to do”. ~Rudolf Steiner – GA 266 – From the Contents of Esoteric Classes – Part II – Munich, 10 January 1912
Ok, yes, I am trying. I am striving to put the good Dr.’s advice to work in my life. Love is a verb, a force in motion, not a noun-a static place. Love is a daily practice.
I agree with Goethe: ‘The Time is at hand’ to give a big thank you kiss to all the people & things that I have labeled obstacles, which over time have become little voices in my head. I can start with the crabby, reactive naysayer that’s forever on the lookout for insults to my dignity, however tiny or unintentional. O & the worry-wart that wakes me up in the middle of the night to pester me with fears & doubts. Grrr…that monkey mind constantly churning is so annoying – & Gosh that bully who always says it’s hopeless, needs another hug. And the scared little girl who holds resentment like a security blanket, wants another cookie.
Can I Love all the little voices in my head? Not just the still, small voice that’s always ready to provide encouragement & deep research questions that lead me to find a treasure trove of more questions & even a few inspirations & revelations. Yes! I can celebrate the voices in all their variable vitality, their persistence, their attentiveness, like an alarm clock warning: WAKE UP! I have to remember that I am lucky to have such a zealous group of advisors & karmic helpers. And then ultimately I must stand in Christic balance with the Representative of Humanity as the middle pillar, which is the path of love.
And today during the morning 10:10 Thought-Seed, I was thinking of this quote:
“We may picture to ourselves that by uniting in brotherliness in working groups, something hovers invisibly over our work, something like the child of the forces of the Spirit Self” ~Rudolf Steiner, 15 June 1915.
Then right after, A.A. Milne kids’ story ‘Winnie-the-Pooh’ practically landed on my head as I was walking past a bookshelf. I opened it to read: “Piglet was so excited at the idea of being useful that he forgot to be frightened any more…”
So I am taking that little voice, in all it’s synchronistic forms, & making it my prescription for how to evade the worrisome illusions that are nipping at us all right now.
Remember friend, we have a job to do – an engaging & important labor of love, so don’t forget to invite yourself to attend to our 10:10 calling. We need to heed – to be heard.
P.S. Here’s what Rumi advises: “Be a lamp, or a lifeboat, or a ladder.”
& Meet me there. ~hag

Manifestations of Karma Study Group
December 2, 2020 – 7:15 pm Central (8:15 pm Eastern)
“… We have now learned that it is possible to seek out accidents or other causes of illness due to karmic effects. In due course we will deal with the details of such processes, such as the way in which the forces in deeper levels of consciousness work within the human being, or to what extent our ordinary consciousness may avoid such accidents. We can understand that someone who goes to a place where he may succumb to an infection will have been driven there under the influence of a certain level of consciousness; in like manner we must be able to understand how it is that human beings take certain measures to render such infections less and less effective; in other words, that through our ordinary consciousness we are able to avert certain consequences by means of hygiene.“
~Rudolf Steiner, Manifestations of Karma, Chapter 6, “Karma in Relation to Accidents”, Hamburg, 21 May, 1910 … focus of the December 2 meeting.

Here is an interesting diagram that seems to beg, “Be The Ladder”. It is from Psychoanalysis in the Light of Anthroposophy:
https://wn.rsarchive.org/Lectures/Psych/English/AP1946/19171111p01.html
https://wn.rsarchive.org/Lectures/Psych/English/AP1946/images/19171111p01_01.gif
This diagram is explained from right to left. After we die, Thinking, Feeling, and Willing separate and live in the super-consciousness of the higher worlds. In the middle is the ladder of the Ego, and wherein thinking, feeling, and willing exist as independent but integrated functions. This is the normal state of affairs. To the left is where we get into trouble. When thinking, feeling, and willing merge in a kind of free-for-all. This is due entirely to unconscious rumblings in the soul, and becomes the stuff that psychoanalysts rack their brains over. Spiritual Science would have us be entirely awake, and leading ourselves at the top of the ladder.
We relate very well to the experience of little voices popping up in our minds, mean and kind, pessimistic and optimistic, wanted and unwanted & dealing with that, finding the right way. It’s a work-in-progress 🙂
Yes, how to still the mind, & to think with purpose & peace. That’s why Steiner’s 6 Basic Exercises are so important to practice!
