Comet Swan Happening NOW: Rudolf Steiner tells us that comets are governed by the Cherubim & the Seraphim, sent into our solar system on a “god-willed mission.” Their task is to purify the astral realm, & to bring a positive impulse into human evolution. “The comet will encounter the Earth just at the time when great possibilities in spiritual life as well as great darkness will lie open to humanity!”
“Something of an elemental nature, something that stirs up, and, in a certain condition, is necessary in order to rightly maintain the progress of evolution in the cosmos — that is the nature of the comets” (Rudolf Steiner, March 5, 1910).
Rudolf Steiner points out that the nucleus of the comet is quite different from the tail. The nucleus attracts & collects harmful, astral substance, which densifies around the nucleus as it progresses further into our physical universe, taking on material form, this is what we see, but it is working even when we can’t see it; then it carries this harmful astral substance out of our planetary system. This astral substance is transformed by the comet, & what streams out from the tail is completely changed as a result.
Howard David Johnson
The word Apocalypse means Revelation. Comets bring a Revelation, a new impulse of growth. This can incite fear & foreboding. Anything new & unknown is often resisted, sometimes with terrible force & violence. The old is clung to, spiritual progress & evolution, are fiercely opposed especially by the adversarial beings seeking an enslaved world order, not the one that progresses humanity towards their spiritual goals.
Rudolf Steiner tells us in ‘The Spiritual Beings in the Heavenly Bodies and in the Kingdoms of Nature’ – 10 lectures given in Helsinki, 3–14 April, 1912, that the appearance of comets creates “…fine organs that are suited to the progressive evolution of the ego…” And the comet signifies that the ego “…acquires new physical and etheric organs for this progressed ego to make use of…”
So what does the Swan Comet signify? Is it enabling the development of specific “fine organs” that will lead to the natural clairvoyance – the new thinking needed in our time to move forward in evolution out of the materialistic age?

And what kind of opposition might we expect from this? What forms will it take in humanity in the activity of the opposing spiritual beings? Does the coronavirus pandemic have any relation to these comets? Is the pandemic a medical question only, or is it an initiation question with some biological component as a catalyst? There is an interesting parallel between what modern science says about comets & about viruses, which is worth further research & consideration. Looking at the question of the “purpose” of corona virus, we need to consider a deeper spiritual relationship. If behind all material processes, there is consciousness at work, is this pandemic an earthly shadow, or mirror of this comet activity (as above, so below)? Is the death & fear it brings, in a larger scheme, a veil hiding a new mission on the Earth?
These cosmic events include the rare meeting of Saturn, Jupiter, & Pluto, with several planetary configurations around that triad, & the approaching Great Conjunction at Winter Solstice 2020, which carries the theme of a ‘new annunciation’. Could it be that with his great light we are seeing a great shadow, & that opposition will arise ever more strongly to preserve the past, to hold back evolution towards its goals?
This Great Conjunction enters the stars of Capricorn. It will remain in Capricorn for its next three cycles after 2020 (3 x 60 years), meaning that this Great Conjunction will repeat in Capricorn, carrying the great annunciation theme in this constellation, until 2199, when it is on the boundary into Aquarius, the stars of the new Age.
Capricorn is the constellation of initiation. It is also the constellation that carries the memory, &, therefore, the dynamics of the great War in Heaven.
The battle into the future will be for the creation of the cosmos of love. The planetary events during this time – the current comets, & the pandemic are all stages in a great transition, which Steiner describes in relation to comets, as a “certain condition necessary in order to rightly maintain the progress of evolution in the cosmos,” to lead us into the 6th Cultural Age.
In this sense, every change or transition in earthly life, as in human life, is accompanied by struggle, tribulation, even death in some form… or by catharsis. For what is catharsis but the painful death of the old in us & in the world in order to make way for the new to be born? Catharsis is as old as initiation itself, & a necessary part of it. The old self must die in order for the new higher self to be born. This is the path of spiritual development, the transformation of the lower astral nature into the pure vessel for the birth of The Sophia in us. It is the path of “not I, but Christ in me.” It is the new initiation.
If we look now at the spiritual nature of the constellations, thru which comet Swan passes, it will shed some light on the nature of what it is bringing us. Swan was first noticed near Fomalhaut, which swims under the water poured out by Aquarius. Aquarius is the constellation of our future age, the 6th Cultural Age, when the vernal point will enter this constellation, in which humanity should develop the Spirit Self. Aquarius pours out the cosmic living water of the divine world, the etheric life.
It then passes into Pisces, the stars of our current age, where our tasks are to develop sister/brotherhood with our earthly world, & our fellow human beings, as well as with the divine world.
Then it moves just into Aries, which is connected to thinking & the ego being, &, to the “reversal” of thinking that no longer descends into the brain, but begins the upward development to the new thinking, or as Willi Sucher calls it, clair-thinking.
It then moves into Perseus, that figure who is a representative of Michael, who slays Medusa, the thinking that turns the human being to stone, & slays Cetus, the sea monster, the old atavistic clairvoyance. Perhaps these mythological creatures are images of Ahriman (stone gaze) & Lucifer (sea monster).
The entire story of Perseus is spread out above the path of Swan in the added constellations of Andromeda & Pegasus, above Aries & Pisces. Andromeda, the human soul, is saved by Perseus, & from Andromeda arises Pegasus, the white winged intelligence, the new thinking. The star in the wing of Pegasus is the same star as in the forehead of Andromeda.
As Swan comet reaches its pinnacle, nearest the Sun at perihelion, it moves from Perseus into Auriga, the Sun Charioteer, near the star Capella. Auriga forms the shape of a pentagon in the heavens. It tells the story of the chthonic son of Hephaestus (the lame god), & in other versions the son of Hermes/Mercury, who built & drove the chariot of the Sun.
The star Capella in Auriga in Hindu mythology is associated with the heart of Brahma. In Greek mythology, it is associated with the goat that suckled Zeus, as well as the horn of the goat that was transformed into the Cornucopia, the horn of plenty, of abundant life.
All of these imaginations are rich in content! So Comet Swan traverses the heavens thru these constellations, which all in some way point to the new faculties, & future of the human being – to our becoming the Sun Charioteer, which can be likened to the development of a ‘Solar Ego’ – the Christ-in-me who drives the Sun Chariot thru the ethers, uniting the earth once again with the Spirit of Sun.
May we take up the reigns with clear sight, an open heart & steady hands.

The festival of Ascension is a mystery not only of the forces of the macro-cosmic kingdom of the Son, into Earth-existence, but also the connection that opens us to the forces proceeding from the sphere of the Father.
The gospel of mark tells us: ‘Then the Lord, after He had spoken to them, was taken up into the heavenly spheres & sat down at the right hand of the World-Father as the fulfiller of His deeds’.
As a result of the conversations over the 40 days with the presence of The Risen Christ, the apostles were able to receive the primal sources of a new imaginative clairvoyance – removing the veil hiding the true image of death which is really a facet of the Father-God in the aspect of Creator – what is born must die, but thru Christ death becomes life.
The scene of the ascension brought to manifestation the inner content of death as a revelation of man’s higher, imaginative consciousness, which has its source in the kingdom of the divine Father.
Tamara Hill Murphey
According to the 5th gospel, the Ascension was for Christ Himself an event which is comparable only with death in human life, where the human becomes a fully spiritual being again. – At that moment the true meaning of death was made manifest to the apostles, they beheld it with their own eyes to be a process of union with the world of the Divine.
Fredrick Jenttop
From that ‘turning point of time’ onward, Rudolf Steiner tells us that, one of the 1st experiences of every human being after death, is a contemplation of Christ’s Ascension, which can reveal to the person’s soul, the true picture of death & its connection to the spiritual world that lies closest to the earth, & with the highest sphere of the Father.
Teofan Sokerov
For the person who on earth worked to understand the mystery of Golgotha, this picture of the ascension after death becomes an affirmation, but for the soul that has not worked towards true spiritual knowledge, it is a picture of reproach. Helping us seek in freedom to understand this mystery in our next life.
Nico Westerdale
Rudolf Steiner tells us: ‘It is the Christ-impulse that works on after death; it is this impulse under whose influence man frees himself from the Moon-sphere, penetrates the starry Sun-sphere & from the impulses given to him by beings of the starry world, is there able to work upon the forming of the physical organism for his next earthly life’. Dornach 15 Sept. 1922

Christ takes our Moon-Karma upon Himself, enabling our soul to find the path of the true Ascension, which leads to the world of the fixed stars.
In the scene of the Ascension we have an indication of the all-encompassing influence of the Christ Being, as the Lord of Karma, upon the life of the human soul after death.

Is this global pandemic entreating us to ‘Practice Spirit Beholding‘ to awaken to the etheric realm we all share in common with the earth?
We can ‘Practice Spirit Recalling‘ to remember we received our etheric body on Old Sun.
In practicing ‘Spirit-Sensing‘ we may feel perhaps the Coronavirus is an admonition for us to reconnect to the sun-forces now imbued with The Etheric Christ, waiting to be recognized and engaged in the current evolving conditions.
This is an invitation for all of humanity to rise to a higher stage of initiation – a global Coronation.

Birthday of Mary Magdalene, sister of Martha & Lazarus. The Gospels of Luke & Mark say 7 demons were cast out of her by Jesus. She became one of Jesus’ most celebrated disciples. Within the four Gospels she is named at least 12 times, more than most of the apostles. She is most prominent in the narrative of the crucifixion of Jesus, John 19:25–26 notes that she stood by the cross, near the Virgin Mary & the Apostle whom Jesus loved. According to all 4 Gospels,[Matthew 28:1–8] [Mark 16:9–10] [Luke 24:10] [John 20:18] she was, either alone or as a member of a group of women, the 1st to testify to the resurrection of Jesus. John 20 & Mark 16:9 specifically name her as the first person to see Jesus after his resurrection.
“…As the Spiritual Soul is the principle in which the Spirit Self develops, this principle is called the “mother of Christ,” or, in the occult schools, the “Virgin Sophia.” Through the fertilisation of the Virgin Sophia the Christ could be born in Jesus of Nazareth. In the occult school of Dionysius, the Intellectual Soul was called “Mary,” and the Sentient Soul “Mary Magdalene.” ~Rudolf Steiner, Gospel of John (Basle): Lecture V

1265 – Birthday of Dante – according to Rudolf Steiner “…Dante became a seer at the age of thirty-five”. “…All leaders of mankind, who were aware of how the higher spiritual life of man arises out of his lower nature, have comprehended the significance of Easter. Dante therefore described his awakening — in his Divine Comedia — as taking place on Good Friday.”
“…Dante had a friend and teacher Brunetto Latini, who, as I think you will recognise from what we shall presently say, may be described as an Initiate in the true sense of the word.”
“…When you follow the teaching of the Templars, there at the heart of it is a kind of reverence for something of a feminine nature. This femininity was known as the Divine Sophia, the Heavenly Wisdom. Manas is the fifth principle. the spiritual self of man, that must be developed, for which a temple must be built. And, just as the pentagon at the entrance to Solomon’s Temple characterises the fivefold human being, this female principle similarly typifies the wisdom of the Middle Ages, This wisdom is exactly what Dante sought to personify in his Beatrice. Only from this viewpoint can Dante’s Divine Comedy be understood. Hence you find Dante, too, using the same symbols as those which find expression in the Templars, the Christian knights, the Knights of the Grail, and so on. Everything which is to happen [in the future] was indeed long since prepared for by the great initiates, who foretell future events, in the same way as in the Apocalypse, so that souls will be prepared for these events.” ~ Rudolf Steiner, The Temple Legend

According to Spiritual Science, our rhythmic system is the realm of the Feeling life, the middle pillar between Thinking in our head, & Willing in our limbs; harmonizing & connecting head, hands & heart.
In order to think, to perceive & remember, we breathe into our lungs, & this breath stimulates the warmth of our “I” in the life of our blood.
Bella June
We then breathe out into the world again. We populate the world with the product of our thoughts.
Hilma af Klint
What are we breathing into the world?
Is it light, love & warmth = forces of life? Or depending on our thoughts, are we breathing out darkness, hatred/scorn/division, coldness = forces of death?
Carla Calabrzy
Love, is a breathing out, a sharing, embodying our unification with the world. It is connected to the future & to freedom. Breathing out makes us feel free, we are selfless – giving freely, sharing our essence. This gives us a sense for Destiny. We unite with our future as we once united with higher beings in spiritual worlds. We also do it every night when we fall asleep; & we experience this out-breath collectively as part of the bigger cosmic & earthly rhythms, particularly in Spring & Summer.
Margherita Arkaura
Breathing in, is a uniting with the Self, & is connected to the past – with memory & necessity. Breathing in helps us to have a consciousness of our Self-hood, & this gives us a sense for Karma. We enter life in the world with a moral memory of our time before birth, what we must do to better ourselves. We do this every Morning too when we awaken. We see in the contraction of Winter.
da vinci
What is it that lives in the rhythmic system & unites the two processes in a living, warm, loving way? It is The Christ who lives in the rhythmic system since the ‘Turning Point of Time’.
Rita De Cassia Perez
Can you feel TheChrist living in the space between breaths, in the space between heart beats?
This Sun Being transforms the necessity of memory & karma – the morality of the gods – into a love for a necessary for freedom, which creates our destiny – the perception & oneness with higher worlds, which is our future.
So it is, that between nerves & senses & limbs, lives our rhythmic system, which is related to our etheric body. It is here that Christ is crucified again & again thru materialistic thoughts, cold feelings, & heartless actions. Our materialistic thoughts are dashed on the shores of our etheric body, dying a death in our physical body, & with it deadening our consciousness of Christ.
What can resurrect our consciousness of Christ again?
Practice SPIRIT-SENSING In balance of the soul, Where the surging deeds Of world-evolving Unite your own I With the I of the world; And you will truly FEEL, In human soul’s creating. For the Christ-will encircling us holds sway, In world rhythms, bestowing Grace upon souls.
Leo Klein
What is Spirit-sensing? It is becoming conscious of what fills the heart with warmth, reverence & wonder – a true heart-thinking – Love, in awe of the Spirit, behind all life.
This moves out again as life – we re-member in Spirit re-calling, good willing, in memory of our oneness in the creator god.
We must work to bestow on our own “I” Spirit Beholding, co-creating with the Holy Spirit.
Living into the rhythms of the Foundation Stone, we become connected to breathing the Spirit in & out, like singing or mindful speech.
The breath is related to the Word, endeavoring to transform our blood – our “I”; as the Holy Spirit is connected to the Healing Wisdom of Christ; as the Kingdom of God is to the New Jerusalem, of which we are called to co-create – now.

Feast Day of Matthias – According to the Acts of the Apostles, Matthias was chosen to replace Judas Iscariot following the betrayal of Jesus & his subsequent suicide. 1912 – Death-Day of Johan August Strindberg, something of a polymath, Swedish playwright, novelist, poet, essayist & painter, Strindberg was also a telegrapher, theosophist, painter, photographer & alchemist. Rudolf Steiner speaks about him in Karmic Relationships, Volume IV: Lecture II:
“…Thus I made the acquaintance of this doctor, a man of our own day. When I met him I was in the company of another person whom I had known very well for a long time. This other person had always made, I will not say a deep, but a very thorough impression on me. He was exceedingly fond of the society of men who were interested in occultism in the widest possible range, though an occultism somewhat externally conceived. He was fond of relating the views of his many acquaintances on all kinds of occult matters, and especially on the occult connections of what the modern artist should strive for, as a lyric and epic poet, or as a dramatist. Around this person there was what I might call a kind of moral, ethical aura. I am applying the word ‘moral’ to all that is connected with the soul-qualities under the command of the will.
I was paying a visit to him, and in his company I found the other man first mentioned, whom I knew by reputation and respected very highly for his literary and medical career. Everything that took place during this visit made a deep impression on me and impelled me to receive the whole experience into the realm of spiritual research.
Then a very remarkable thing happened. By witnessing the two persons in the company of one another, and by the impression which my new acquaintance made on me — (I had known him for a long time as an eminent literary and medical man and had a great regard for him, but this was the first time that I saw him in the flesh) — by these impressions I gained certain perceptions. To begin with however, it enabled me, not to investigate in any way the connections in life and destiny of my new acquaintance. On the contrary, my seeing them together shed light as it were upon the other one, whom I had long known. And the result was this. — He had lived in ancient Egypt, not in his last, but in one of his former lives on earth. And (this is the peculiar thing) he had been mummified, embalmed as a mummy. Soon afterwards I discovered that the mummy was still in existence. Indeed a long time afterwards I saw the actual mummy. This, then, was the starting-point. But once the line of research had been kindled in connection with the person whom I had long known, it shed its light still farther, and eventually I was enabled to investigate the karmic connections of the other man, my new acquaintance, the doctor. And the following was the result.
As a general rule one is led from one earthly life of a human being to the preceding one. But in this case intuition led far back into ancient Egypt, to a kind of chieftain in ancient Egypt. It was a chieftain who in a certain sense, indeed in a very interesting way, possessed the ancient
Egyptian Initiation, but had become somewhat decadent as an Initiate. In the further course of his life, he began to take his Initiation not very seriously, indeed he even treated it with a certain scorn. Now this man had a servant, who in his turn was extremely serious. This servant was of course not initiated; but both of them together were given the task of embalming mummies and procuring the substances for this purpose, which was no easy matter.
Now especially in the more ancient periods of Egypt, the process of embalming mummies was very complicated and demanded an intimate knowledge of the human being, of the human body. Nay more, of those who had to do the embalming — if they did it legitimately — deep knowledge of the human soul was required. The chieftain of whom I spoke had been initiated for this very work, but he gradually became, in a manner of speaking, frivolous in relation to this, his proper calling. So it came about that in the course of time he betrayed (so they would have put it in the language of the Mysteries) the knowledge he had received through his Initiation to his servant, and the latter gradually proved to be a man who understood the content of Initiation better than the Initiate himself. Thus the servant became the embalmer of mummies, and at length his master did not even trouble to supervise the work, though of course he still took advantage of the social position, etc., which this honourable task involved. But at length his character became such that he no longer enjoyed great respect, and he thus came into various conflicts of life. The servant, on the other hand, worked his way up by degrees to a very, very earnest conception of life, and was thus taken hold of, in a remarkably congenial way, by a kind of Initiation. It was no real Initiation, but it lived within him instinctively. Thus a large number of mummies were mummified under the supervision and co-operation of these two people.
Time went on. The two men passed through the gate of death and underwent the experiences of which I shall speak next time — the experiences in the super-sensible which are connected with the development of karma or destiny. And in the Roman epoch they both of them came back to earthly life. They came back at the very time when the dominion of the Roman Emperors was founded, in the time of Augustus — not exactly, but approximately, in the time of Augustus himself.
The chieftain, who had gradually become a really frivolous Initiate, and who, when he had passed through the gate of death, had felt this as an extraordinarily bitter trial of earthly life, experiencing it in all the bitterness of its effects — we find him again as Julia, the daughter of Augustus. She married Tiberius, the step-son of Augustus, and led a life which to herself seemed justified but was considered, in the Roman society of that time, so immoral that at length both she and Tiberius were banished.
The other man — the servant who had worked his way from the bottom upwards nearly to the grade of an Initiate — was born again at the same time, as the Roman historian Titus Livius, or Livy.
It is most interesting how Livy came to be an historian. In the ancient Egyptian times he had embalmed a large number of mummies. The souls who had lived in the bodies of these mummies — very many of them — were reincarnated as Romans. And certain ones among them were actually reincarnated as the seven Kings of Rome. For the Seven Kings were no mere legendary figures. Going back into the time when the chieftain and his servant had lived in Egypt, we come into a very old Egyptian epoch. Now through a certain law which applies especially to the reincarnation of souls whose bodies have been mummified, these souls were called back again to earth comparatively soon. And the karmic connection of the servant of the chieftain with the souls whose bodies he had embalmed was so intimate, that he had to write the history of the very same human being whom in a previous life he had embalmed, though naturally, he also included the history of many others whom he had not embalmed. Thus Titus Livius became an historian. Now I would like some, indeed as many of you as possible, to take Livy’s Roman History, and, with the knowledge that results from these karmic connections, to receive a real impression of his style. You will see that his peculiar penetration into the human being and his tendency at the same time towards the style of the myth, is akin to that intimate knowledge of man which an embalmer could attain.
We do not perceive such connections until the corresponding researches have been made. But once this has been done, a great light is shed on many things. It is difficult to understand the origin of the peculiar style of Titus Livius, who as it were embalms the human beings whom he describes. For such is his style. Real light is thrown upon it when we point to these connections.
Thus we have the same two people again as Julia and Titus Livius. Then Julia and Livy passed once more through the gate of death. The one soul had had the experience of being an Initiate to a considerable degree, and having then distorted his Initiation by frivolous conduct. He had discovered all the bitterness of the after-effects of this in the life between death and a new birth. He had then undergone a peculiar destiny in his new life on earth as Julia, of which life you may read in history. The result was, that in his next life between death and a new birth (following on the life as Julia) he conceived a strong antipathy to this his incarnation as Julia. And in a curious way this antipathy of his was universalised. For spiritual intuition shows this individuality in his life between death and a new birth as though perpetually crying out: “Would that I had never become a woman! It was the evil that I did in yonder life in ancient Egypt which led me thus to become a woman.”
We can now trace the life of these two individualities still farther. We come into the Middle Ages. We find Livy again as the glad poet and minstrel in the very centre of the Middle Ages. We are astonished to find him thus, for there is no connection between the external callings. But the greatest possible surprises that a human being can possibly have are those that result from a real study of successive lives on earth. The Roman historian, with his style that proceeded from a knowledge of man acquired in embalming mummies, with his style so wonderfully light — we find him again as the poet Walther von der Vogelweide. His style is carried upwards, as it were, upon the wings of lyric poetry.
Walther von der Vogelweide lived in the Tyrol. He had many patrons; and among his many patrons there was one very peculiar man, who was on familiar terms with alchemists of every kind, for there were scores of alchemists at that time, in the Tyrol. This man was himself the owner of a castle, but he frequented all manner of alchemists’ dens and hovels. In so doing he learned extraordinarily much, and (as happened in the case of Paracelsus too) by spending his time in the dens of alchemists he was impelled to study all occult matters very intensely, and gained an unusually intense feeling for occult things. He thus came into the position of rediscovering in the Tyrol what was then only known as a legend, namely, the Castle in the Mountain — the Castle in the Rocks — (which indeed no one would have recognised as such, for it consisted of rocks, it was hollowed out of the rocks) — I mean, the Castle of the Dwarf King Laurin. The daemonic nature in the district of the Castle of the Dwarf King Laurin made a profound impression on him. Thus there was a remarkable combination in this soul — Initiation which he had carried into frivolity, annoyance at having been a woman and having thus been drawn into the sphere of Roman immorality and, at the same time, Roman cant and hypocrisy about morals; and lastly, an intimate knowledge, though still only external, of all manner of alchemical matters, which knowledge he had extended to a clear feeling of the nature-daemons and of other spiritual agencies in nature.
These two men — though it is not recorded in the biography of Walther, nevertheless it is the case — Walther von der Vogelweide and this other man often came together, and Walther received many an influence and impulse from him.
Here we have an instance of what is really a kind of karmic law. We see the same people drawn together again and again, called to the earth again and again simultaneously, complementing one another, living in a kind of mutual contrast. It is interesting once more, to enter into the peculiar lyrical style of Walther. It is as though at last he had grown thoroughly sick of embalming dead mummies and had turned to an entirely different aspect of life. He will no longer have anything to do with dead things, but only with the fullness and joy of life. And yet again, there is a certain undercurrent of pessimism in his work. Feel the style of Walther von der Yogelweide, feel in his style the two preceding earthly lives: feel too, his restless life. It is extraordinarily reminiscent of that life which dawns upon one who spends much of his time with the dead, when many destinies are unburdened in the soul. For such indeed was the case with an embalmer of mummies.
Now we go on. — My further researches into this karmic chain led me at length into the same room where I had visited my old acquaintance, whom I had recognised as an Egyptian mummy. And now I perceived that this very mummy had been embalmed by the other man whom I now met in his room. The whole line of research led me back to this same room. In effect, I found the soul who had passed through the servant of the old Egyptian embalmer, through Titus Livius, through Walther von der Vogelweide (the most celebrated of the Middle High German lyric poets) — I found him again in the doctor of our time, in Ludwig Schleich.(a German surgeon, writer philosopher, poet & painter)
Thus astonishingly do the connections in life appear. Who, with the ordinary consciousness alone, can understand an earthly life? It can only be understood when we know what is there in the foundations of a soul. Theoretically, many people know that deep in the foundations of the soul there are the layers of successive earthly lives. But it becomes real and concrete only when we behold it in a specific instance.
Then inner vision was directed out of this room once more. (For in the case of the other man, who had been mummified by this one, I was led to no more clues — at any rate to no important ones.) On the other hand I now perceived the further soul-pilgrimage of the old chieftain, of Julia, of the discoverer of Laurin’s Castle. For he came back to earth as August Strindberg.
Now I would like you to take the whole life and literary work of August Strindberg and set it against the background which I have just described. See the peculiar misogyny of Strindberg, which is no true misogyny, but proceeds from quite different foundations. Look, too, at all the strange daemonic elements that occur in his works. See his peculiar attraction to all manner of alchemistic and occult arts and artifices. And at length, look at the adventurous life of August Strindberg. You will find how well it stands out against the background which I have described.
Then read the Memoirs of Ludwig Schleich, his relations to August Strindberg, and you will see how all this arises once more against the background of their former earthly lives. Indeed, from the Memoirs of Ludwig Schleich a very remarkable light may suddenly arise, a light truly astonishing. For the man in whose company I first met Ludwig Schleich — the man of whom I said that in his ancient Egyptian life he was mummified by Schleich — it is he of whom Schleich himself tells in his Memoirs that he led him to Strindberg. In a past life, Strindberg and Schleich had worked together upon the corpse. And the soul who dwelt in that body, led them together again.
Thus, all that we have to explain to begin with about repeated earthly lives and the karmic connections in general, becomes real and concrete. Only then do the facts that appear in earthly life become transparent. A single human life on earth is an entire mystery. What else can it be, until seen against the background of the former lives on earth?
Myths will be mutating…Nursery rhymes will scramble, & fairy tales will fracture, allowing a wholeness to be born. Thor, the god of thunder, may make a seek the secrets of life from Snow White. The cow jumping over the moon could turn out to be a fake designed by the CIA. An ugly duckling will lay an egg that Chicken Little claims is irrefutable proof that the question is Love & Love is the answer!…Keep your eyes open for many more new revelations now appearing.

~Vitae Sophia~ A Whitsun Festival of United Soul Endeavor with Hazel Archer-Ginsberg
Online Whitsunday, 31 May 2020 from 10am–11:15am EDT Zoom Call*
Through leading thoughts and conversation we are called to redeem the ether spheres to create an Ecclesia, a chalice for The Sophia. Then the spirit flame can spread out to become what Steiner called a “World Whitsun”, which began in earnest at the Christmas Conference. The Whitsun Festival highlights one of the greatest challenges of being human: placing our individual gifts, in right relationship within the social realm. This challenge is especially strong now during this ‘pandemic’. Our groups striving to know Spiritual Science must work together as a community, to have the possibility to create a new culture where a sacrament is possible in every encounter. Our individual strength is enhanced by weaving our gifts together, kindling our social world in conscious community.

Dear Friends – In the “Four Seasons and the Archangels,” Dr. Steiner describes the out breath of the Earth in Spring – how the activity of the Ahrimanic beings, whose desire to enslave lives in the limestone, & is strongest, especially in March. Most of the time, the Ahrimanic beings gain very little from the earth, instead they must rely on the human being for their astral sustenance. Yet, in the Springtime, these beings, due to the attraction of the vitality of the limestone, seek to draw down an “astral rain from the cosmos, blowing around the world an astral wind, with the hope of ensouling the earth’s limestone, into a world of pain.”
Black Board drawing by Rudolf Steiner
The Luciferic beings also strive in the Spring thru the carbonic acid, carrying phosphoric, sulfuric, volatile substances, rising up higher out of the earth thru the breathing of the plants. They desire to kick the non-breathing etheric substance of human beings. Together, this would create the possibility of a rising etheric mist that would suffocate human breathing, but would grant Luciferic beings the etheric bodies they do not have. The volatilizing sulfur process, bound to the oxygenation of cells in the body, would be lifted away in a suffocating outbreath of the carbon dioxide, vegetative process. “That is what the Luciferic spirits strive and hope for, when the end of March comes on. They hope to change the whole Earth into a delicate shell of this kind, wherein they, densified through the etheric nature of man, could carry on their own existence.”
Of the Ahrimanic beings, Steiner says that if they could realize their hopes, “the whole of humanity would gradually be dissolved into the Earth:” into a matrix of Ahrimanic singularity. “The transition to this enslavement with the Earth would consist in this: man in his whole organism would become more and more like the limestone. He would blend the limestone with his organism and become more and more calcified. In this way he would transmute his bodily form into one that looked quite different – a sclerotic form with something like bat’s wings. This form would then be able to merge gradually into the earthly element, so that the whole Earth, according to the Ahrimanic idea, would become a dead Earth being.”
We are living in an age where the Ahrimanic threat stands before us, striving to make our soul capacities of thinking, feeling & willing depend entirely on the genetically modified food we digest (rather than on cosmic nutrition). “For Ahriman hardens man, while Lucifer wishes to dissolve and evaporate him through his breathing. In all this, the forces that make for illness reside.”
The healing medicine of the Spring Archangel Raphael is vitally needed, & available to all right now. We can rise in our thinking to meet this energy, which helps us resist fixed, artificial, poisonous systems, especially those that distance us from our human community, that prevent us from overcoming the illness of our time, severing human evolution from the Earth evolution.
Black Board drawing by Rudolf Steiner
Together with the mighty being Michael, spiritual emissaries empower us with true nourishment, & Mother Nature’s artistic, living learning, that, thru our beholding of ‘Natura’, unveils the healing, cosmic spirit.
Ok so, friends, go out & get some sunshine! Take a deep breath, put your feet on the earth & use your thinking to engender gratitude for all the helpful elemental beings aligned with love & light waiting to be redeemed thru our loving attention, thru our willing devotion. xox
2 May 2020 – “Speaking with the Stars”: Here is a must read article from Astrosopher Jonathan Hilton of the Astrosophy Center
1519 – Death Day of Leonardo da Vinci, Italian painter, sculptor, & architect.
“…We know how Leonardo worked at the “Last Supper”. He often went and sat on the scaffolding and brooded for hours in front of the wall, then he would take a brush and make a few strokes and go away again. Sometimes he only went and stared at the picture and went away again. When he was painting the Christ Figure, his hand trembled. Indeed, if we put together all that we can find concerning this subject we must say that neither outwardly nor inwardly was Leonardo happy when painting this world-renowned picture. Now there were people at that time in Milan who were displeased with the slow progress of the picture, for instance a Prior of the monastery, who could not see why an artist could not paint such a picture quickly, and complained to the Duke. He too thought the affair had lasted too long. Leonardo answered: “The picture is to represent Jesus Christ and Judas, the two greatest contrasts; one cannot paint them in one year; there are no models for them in the world, neither for Judas nor for Christ”. After he had been working at the picture for years, he said he did not know whether he could finish it after all! Then he said that if finally he found no model for Judas he could always use the Prior himself! It was thus extraordinarily difficult to bring the picture to a conclusion but within himself Leonardo did not feel happy. For this picture showed the contrast between what lived in his soul and what he was able to represent on the canvas. Here it is necessary to bring forward a hypothesis of Spiritual Science, which may be reached by anyone who studies what can by degrees be learned about this picture.” ~Rudolf Steiner, Leonardo da Vinci, His Spiritual and Intellectual Greatness, At the Turning Point of the New Age
1611 – The King James Version of the Bible is published for the first time in London, England, by printer Robert Barker
1729 – Birthday of Catherine the Great of Russia, the longest-ruling female leader of Russia. The Catherinian Era, is often considered the Golden Age of the Russian Empire & the Russian nobility. She enthusiastically supported the ideals of The Enlightenment, thus earning the status of an enlightened despot. As a patron of the arts she presided over the age of the Russian Enlightenment, a period when the Smolny Institute, the first state-financed higher education institution for women in Europe, was established.
1772 – Birthday of Novalis, the pseudonym & pen name of Georg Philipp Friedrich Freiherr von Hardenberg, poet, author, mystic, & philosopher of Early German Romanticism. His study of mineralogy & management of salt mines in Saxony, was often ignored by his contemporary readers Novalis concerned himself with the scientific doctrine of Johann Gottlieb Fichte, which greatly influenced his world view, transforming Fichte’s Nicht-Ich (German “not I”) to a Du (“you”), an equal subject to the Ich (“I”). This was the starting point for Novalis’ Liebesreligion (“religion of love”) dedicated to his beloved Sophie who died of tuberculosis.
“…When we consider the life of Novalis, what an echo we find there of the Raphael life for which Hermann Grimm had so fine an understanding! His beloved dies in her youth. He is himself still young. What is he going to do with his life now that she has died? He tells us himself. He says that his life on Earth will be henceforth to “die after her”, to follow her on the way of death. He wants to pass over already now into the super-sensible, to lead again the Raphael life, not touching the Earth, but living out in poetry his magic idealism. He would fain not let himself be touched by Earth life.
When we read the “Fragments” of Novalis, and give ourselves up to the life that flows so abundantly in them, we can discover the secret of the deep impression they make on us. Whatever we have before us in immediate sense-reality, whatever the eye can see and recognise as beautiful — all this, through the magic idealism that lives in the soul of Novalis, appears in his poetry with a well-nigh heavenly splendour. The meanest and simplest material thing — with the magic idealism of his poetry he can make it live again in all its spiritual light and glory.
And so we see in Novalis a radiant and splendid forerunner of that Michael stream which is now to lead you all, my dear friends, while you live; and then, after you have gone through the gate of death, you will find in the spiritual super-sensible worlds all those others — among them also the being of whom I have been speaking to you today — all those with whom you are to prepare the work that shall be accomplished at the end of the century, and that shall lead mankind past the great crisis in which it is involved.” ~Rudolf Steiner, The Individuality of Elias, John, Raphael, Novalis – The Last Address – Dornach, Michaelmas Eve, 1924

The CRC – Marianne Fieber, Alberto Loya, Hazel Archer-Ginsberg, David Howerton, Lisa Dalton Eurythmyst: Raven GarlandIn heavy clouds let Him ascend
And so also let Him downward tread. In cooling streams let Him be sent, in flames of fire blaze His descent, In air and essence, sound and dew, To permeate our whole earth through. ~Novalis, born on May 2nd, 1772 — Happy birthday to him!
“So we see how Powers work together in the world, how everything that appears to oppose the progress of mankind subsequently turns out to be a blessing…For everything in the great world Plan is good and the evil endures only for a season. Therefore he alone believes in the eternity of the evil who confounds the temporal with the eternal; he who does not rise from the temporal to the eternal can never understand evil“. ~Rudolf Steiner, The Deed of Christ and the Opposing Spiritual Powers, March 22, 1909
“So one sees how the physical is a result of what preceded it spiritually and how in particular circumstances people have it in their power, through knowledge of certain relationships, to connect the physical with its spiritual origin. For example, if one knows how a particular illness is connected with particular feelings and emotions, he knows that by calling up these feelings he can also call up the illness. The black magician can make use of this knowledge to destroy the people. The deep occult truths can therefore not be taught to everyone without due consideration, for it would immediately bring about a sharp demarcation between good and evil. This is the danger inherent in the spreading of occult teachings, for no-one can be taught how to make people well, without at the same time learning how to make people ill. Where occult teachings have penetrated more into certain peoples such things have happened. There are districts in the East where one can hear true reports that there are sects who make it their task to produce definite illnesses. Thus we penetrate to an ever greater degree into the understanding of the ways in which the material arises out of the spiritual.
Frankel Harrding
So what does it mean to call up feelings and emotions…it means to change the rhythm between breath and heart beat – Fear is the acceleration. Love brings a steady calm balance in the rhythm…“~Rudolf Steiner, Dornach, 15 December 1919

25 April 2020 – “Speaking with the Stars”: The waxing crescent Moon stands with Aldebaran below Venus (Occult Mercury) this evening. The earthshine within its horns (“the old moon on the new moon’s arms”) will now be in much better view than yesterday.
“If seeds in the black earth can turn into such beautiful flowers, what might not the heart become in the long journey towards the stars?“~ G K Chesterton
Feast of St. Mark the Evangelist, founded the Church of Alexandria. The oldest & the shortest of the four Gospels, the Gospel of Mark emphasizes the rejection of Christ by humanity while being God’s triumphant envoy.
A winged lion is Mark’s symbol. The lion derives from Mark’s description of John the Baptist as a “voice of one crying out in the desert” (Mark 1:3), which artists compared to a roaring lion. The wings come from the application of Ezekiel’s vision of four winged creatures (Ezekiel, chapter one) to the evangelists.
“…This is how it is with the kingdom of God; it is as if a man were to scatter seed on the land and would sleep and rise night and day and the seed would sprout and grow, he knows not how. Of its own accord the land yields fruit, first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear. And when the grain is ripe, he wields the sickle at once, for the harvest has come” (Mark 4:26-29).
“Everything Christ Jesus did was connected with macrocosmic events. Think of how often in St. Mark’s Gospel it is said that Christ performed His acts of healing after the Sun had set or before it had risen. Thus we are told: In the evening, when the Sun had set, they brought to Him all manner of sick and possessed. (i, 32). Why were the sick and possessed brought to Him at just that time? Because the Sun had set and its forces were no longer working physically in Jesus, but spiritually; what He was to do was not connected with the physical forces of the Sun. The physical Sun had set, but the spiritual Sun-forces worked through His heart and body. And when He wanted to unfold His greatest and most powerful forces He had necessarily to exert them at a time when the physical Sun was not visible in the heavens. So also when we read: ‘Before the Sun had risen’ — the words have a definite meaning. Every word in St. Mark’s Gospel indicates great cosmic connections between processes in the universe and every step taken and every deed performed by Christ in the body of Jesus of Nazareth here on Earth. If you were to draw a map of the paths He trod and the deeds He performed and were then to study the corresponding processes in the heavens, the picture would be the same: processes in the heavens would seem to have been projected down to the Earth.” ~Rudolf Steiner, MYSTERY TEACHINGS IN ST. MARK’S GOSPEL
1599 – Birthday of Oliver Cromwell, political leader & Lord Protector of the Commonwealth of England, Scotland, & Ireland. Nicknamed “Old Ironsides. Cromwell was born into the middle gentry. He was an intensely religious man, a self-styled Puritan Moses, & he fervently believed that God was guiding his victories.
Cromwell was one of the signatories of King Charles I’s death warrant in 1649
Cromwell is one of the most controversial figures in the history of the British Isles, considered a regicidal dictator by historians, a military dictator by Winston Churchill, but a hero of liberty by John Milton, Thomas Carlyle, & Samuel Rawson Gardiner, & a class revolutionary by Leon Trotsky.
1875 – Death-Day of the 12th Dalai Lama -Trinley Gyatso. His short life coincided with a time of major political unrest & wars in Tibet which particularly suffered from the weakening of the Qing Dynasty.
During his period of training as a child, Tibet banned Europeans from entering the country because of wars Britain was fighting against Sikkim & Bhutan, both of whom were controlled to a considerable degree by the lamas in Lhasa. These wars were seen as efforts to colonize Tibet—something seen as unacceptable by the lamas.
Trinley Gyatso was fully enthroned as Dalai Lama on 11 March 1873 but could not stamp his full authority on Tibet because he died of a mysterious illness.
