Well dear ones – I guess I couldn’t just talk about health & illness without having a personal experience. Yep, a very painful chronic condition involving a spinal stenosis flared up –Exasperated no doubt by all the sitting during the conference…grrr…While I am concentrating on my various health protocols, I will attempt to share a few more thoughts from “The Mysteries of Healing: Realizing AnthropoSophia” Conference. Over our time together we worked with 3 case studies, breaking our large group of 85 participants into smaller circles named after the Planets. I was in ‘Earth’ facilitated by Dr. Adam Blanning, with many practitioners specializing in modalities like Acupuncture, Astrosophy (Jonathan Hilton:) Dramatic arts (Sir Richard Ramsbotham:), Biography (Douglas Garrett:), Nurses, Teachers (Sarah Diechmann:), etc…I was the only Inter-Faith Minister.
We got to experience luscious anthroposophical remedies from Weleda: cloths swirled in Spruce, or Rose to place on our face, neck or wrists, & a liver & heart compress-Rose Cooper & Rose Aurum. Warmth is one of the secrets of healing that we got to share 1st hand.

What was interesting to me was that the cases were 3 females – each at a crucial Rubicon age, 14, 22, 71. Which had me pondering the idea that if we are to truly renew the mysteries of healing, besides looking at remedies, we need to take a prophylactic approach, employing the powerful therapeutic effect that can come from ‘Rites of Passage’ to help people meet these milestone events with the support of community.
Dr. James Dyson in speaking about redeeming Persephone thru our connection to Natura, & thru Sophia to bring the Star World into the fluids of our our ether body, & into the earth, mentioned that this search for Sophia is the Science of the Grail – The will to help another by taking on their karma.
He asked how many know the 1st sentence of KNOWLEDGE OF HIGHER WORLDS AND ITS ATTAINMENT – which many of us did…
“There slumbers in every human being faculties by means of which he can acquire for himself a knowledge of higher worlds.”
But then he tested us further: Ok, how many can site the last paragraph…No One:
“The instructions of true esoteric teachers lead to the good, or they lead to nothing. To guide us to egotistic salvation and mere existence in the supersensible world is not their task. On the contrary, their task, from the start, is to keep us at a distance from the supra-earthly world until we can enter it with a will dedicated to full and selfless collaboration.”
We must cure narcissism. The individual must awaken from their slumber to re-order the karma disrupted by the deeds of 869, to serve the Cosmic Communion & bring it to the community – then Initiation can become Civilization.

Is it really narcissism that we must cure; is this the task of anthroposophy? Recent attention has been given to the School of Unselfishness, which accords to the pre-earthly deeds of Christ, and encapsulated here in probably the last purely Christophoric lecture before the onset of WW I:

This makes a lot of sense, of course, and it has guided me in my collaboration here on Reverse Ritual over the last five years. So, I feel that I know these words even as a simple layman without a “calling card”. Narcissism can only be cured through spiritual-scientific training. And, this will be a difficult enterprise, but I like these therapists working toward this goal if that is what they have in mind. Especially, the psychological advantage it seems is most important in realizing the Self who needs to lose the Self in order to meet the Other. Joan of Arc is an Epitome in this regard.
We heard stories from Dr. Ursula Flatters in particular where she spoke about how using her will to heal did not work. She had to open that selfless silent space within to receive help from the spiritual world in specific cases which she mentioned in detail.
Yes. I do think curing Narcissism is one of the tasks of Anthroposophy. Otherwise we are not worthy to pass the Guardian of the Threshold & cannot enter the spiritual world to co-create with the gods as we are meant to. And How can we hope to work in true collaboration with our fellows here on earth if we put ourselves above the other…?
Then, you are talking about the narcissism in oneself, which anthroposophy clearly lays aside in the quest to be selfless and do the good. I agree wholeheartedly with this. The lesser Guardian is quite the taskmaster on this aspect of self improvement. I learned to be a change agent many years ago with the idea that we can remake the world one individual at a time.
For years I have enjoyed your emails but they have been especially rich while you did this conference. I have saved the drawing with the senses distributed throughout thinking, feeling and willing….really lovely…thanks for your work…sounds like it was a great conference.

Perhaps you might like this verse from ‘Towards The Deepening’, it was shared by Mary Spalding who has been involved in many Waldorf School inititives.
It is the first part of the Foundation Stone Verse for the first additional building of the Waldorf School in Stuttgart, from December 16, 1921.
May there reign here spirit-strength in love;
May there work here spirit-light in goodness;

This has been discussed here often, and how Oriphiel seeks to lead the revolt of the Planetary Intelligences (Archangels) away from Michael. Thus, Michael makes a pivotal sacrifice with the Supersensible Council of 869. He separates out the personal and individual intelligence for humanity, and this assures that the Consciousness Soul will achieve individualized ‘Ego Consciousness’ in the Fifth Cultural epoch. This is now ours, but this consciousness can only advance by receiving the Cosmic Intelligence through Spiritual Science.
This is why Rudolf Steiner was especially prepared to be the human emissary of Michael in reaching the point, c. 1900, when the personal and individual intelligence, which was split in 869, could receive what the Michael culture had to offer since 1879. There can be no cure without the appropriate alchemy. Of course, this is merely a layman’s opinion 🙂

Thank you for all you share, Hazel. FYI a dozen years ago I had back surgery for spinal stenosis. It flared up again some time later and the doctor wanted to perform a second operation. I thought, “I’m not going through THAT pain again!” and so I went to an acupuncturist instead. She fixed me in several sessions and it’s never returned. Cheers and best wishes, Hazel.
Hi B – Yes, the modern medical industry wants us to undergo the knife they told me I had better do it right away before I got too old (this was 10 years ago) I have managed it thru eurythmy, Qigong, Acupuncture massage, & various remedies. But it does flare up especially when sitting too much. I have a standing desk for when I write, & during conferences I often stand up in the back or at the side.
I am contemplating the karmic connections around this ailment…
