An African proverb says, “If you want to go fast, go alone – If you want to go far, go together.”

Psychologist Carl Jung says that we are all connected to each other thru the collective unconscious. Our souls have taproots that sink deep into the memories & capacities of the entire human evolution.

Let’s make the collective unconscious, conscious, so that our taproots can bring us into a more intimate contact with the primal pool of possibilities – Giving us the power to draw on mojo, above & below, that transcends our individual personal abilities.

During this time of year as the veils between the worlds thin, to ‘Practice Spirit-Recalling’ asks us to make use of the liquid lightning, the warm ambrosial memory, & healing balm from the beginning of time. Standing upright at the point, we move to the periphery where the encircling round helps us ‘Practice Spirit-Sensing‘ – this is where we find the helpers. Going into the cosmic depths allows us to ‘Practice Spirit-Beholding’ where we can co-create with our cosmic future.

There are a couple of caveats, though: The primal truth won’t be simple & bright; it is bound to be dense, convoluted, & kaleidoscopic – Opening our vision into the dark crevasses of our inner psyche.

It is an excellent time to devote ingenuity to improving the way we communicate with the shadow, our black-sheep-self, the fallen angels that have lost their way, feral mavericks that want to reveal their tricks, maybe even the mother-in-law that never understood. Let’s embrace the odd ducks, the co-workers who tie us into tight karmic knots; & even the sleepwalkers who don’t share the same political, economic, or spiritual views. But remember, no matter what, we are all still connected at the taproot, & the Tree of Life has joined with the Tree of Knowledge, & the fruit waits to be ripened thru the warmth & light of ‘What from our hearts We are founding, What from our heads, We direct, With Single purpose, And focused willing’…

It’s mid-October, so Deneb has replaced Vega as the zenith star after nightfall. Capricornus has replaced Sagittarius as the zodiacal constellation due south.

Our cosmic conversation continues: The Orionids – Peak these next few days.

The meteor shower of the Mighty Hunter Orion is underway, with the earth traveling once again through the trail of cosmic dust left by Halley’s Comet.

From an article by Dr Elizabeth Vreede: ” Comets represent an element that does not wholly enter the usual sphere of cosmic law, although they still contain a trace of the direct working of spiritual powers, indeed, of the very highest — the Seraphim and Cherubim. Before ordinary law may be broken through, the very highest power and insight is required. The various comets, indeed, are agents of a very special nature in our planetary system, their polar antithesis being in the moons. Just as the moons are a kind of corpse which the planetary system trails along with it, so, on the other side, the comets may be spoken of as constant purifiers of the spiritual atmosphere within the solar system. In earlier times men thought of them as the “scavengers of God,” and many superstitions have gathered around them. To the eye of Spirit, too, the mission of the comets is perpetually to expel impure astral forces from the Cosmos or to introduce new impulses.”

5 things you need to know about the Orionid meteor shower:

5. The meteors are actually debris from the Comet Halley – The Comet Halley hasn’t paid Earth a visit since 1986, but pieces of the famous space rock still show up every fall. Each year, around October 20-22, our planet intersects with the comet’s orbit, according to Earth Sky. Pieces of Halley disintegrate in Earth’s upper atmosphere nearly 60 miles above the planet’s surface, but not before creating quite the spectacle for those down below.

4. Let’s be honest, watching this thing is a commitment. Experts agree that the shower will take place before dawn on October 21 or 22, but can’t pinpoint an exact date.

3. 10-20 Meteors Could Fall Each Hour – The Orionid Meteor Shower is a “modest shower.” That means you won’t see a constant stream of glowing rocks plummeting toward Earth at any given moment. Don’t let that fool you. Those watching from dark or rural locations will still have a front row seat for the kind of spectacle that only comes from space.

2. …And They’ll Be Traveling At 41 Miles Per Second – You read that right. 41 miles per second. These rocks are literally scorching across the sky as they enter Earth’s atmosphere. Roughly half of these blazing fast meteors will leave gas trails behind them that are visible for a few seconds after the meteor is gone.

1. From. Every. Direction.- The Orionids flying from the sky this month are named after the constellation Orion, where they appear to radiate. The thing is, these meteors generally aren’t visible until they’re at least 30 degrees from that radiant point. This means they can appear any & everywhere in the night sky. If watching with a party, focus on different areas of the night sky & be sure to call out the meteors as you see them.

Every culture has a festival celebrating their Beloved Dead. For deep in our bones we know that those who have passed through the gates of death want to work with us on the physical world, reminding us that everything physical is an outer expression of spirit.

During this time of year the veils between the worlds are thin, and the spiritual realm beckons. Having put the iron will of Michael to work in our thinking, we now have the courage to look beyond the veil of the material world into the spirit realm, the place of our beginning and our ending, only to begin again and yet again…for every ending is a new beginning.

We will open with some poetry and music played by Carol Kelly, followed by an enactment of an original script by Hazel Archer-Ginsberg, based on indications from Spiritual Science.

We will go into small breakout groups to explore the theme: “Who do you want to be in the new year”.

Ok Dr. Steiner, you got me on a roll. So…Today I am – Taking inventory of all my inner ‘voices’, noticing both the content of what they are saying & the tone with which they say it. As I grow older, I realize more & more that tone is everything; the tambour, the color, the way an idea is expressed, & the resonance it evokes as an after-image, says a lot more than words can convey. Is the tone harmonious, connective, or off-putting, & unsettling. Each has it’s place. I am also noticing how, some of the voices are chatty (O that monkey mind) & others shy, rarely forthcoming; some blaring & others seductive; some nagging or needy, or blaming & shaming, & others, selfless & insightful. I am working to Welcome all the voices in my head, calling them into the spotlight of my heart’s alert attention. I sit with them in dialogue, & ask each to step forward & reveal their agendas. Are they coming from my past, my present, or my future? Are they even part of me – or are they voices from other beings seeking to waylay, or enlighten? Which of the soul forces of thinking, feeling or willing, do they speak for? Are they trying to communicate with me so that I will pass their missives on to others – or is it a memo just for me? Can I listen without judgement, without giving away my will or freedom? What will I say in return?

The Orionid meteor shower, modest but definitely there, will be active in the early-morning hours for several days. It should be at its strongest from about midnight until dawn both Wednesday & Thursday mornings. You might see about 10 meteors an hour under excellent dark-sky conditions, the closer to dawn the better. The Moon will have long set. The shower’s radiant is at the top of Orion’s Club, which gets higher through the pre-dawn hours. The higher a meteor shower’s radiant, the more meteors appear in all parts of the sky.

The masses of humanity go through life as if asleep, without thought; they are completely unaware of what is going on in groups, some of them quite large, which may be right next door. Today, more than ever, people are much given up to illusion. Just consider the way in which many people keep saying today: ‘lt is amazing how effective modern communications are and how this brings people together!

I have spoken of this to show that it is entirely possible today for the mass of people to know nothing of radically new developments which are right on their doorstep.

The ahrimanic powers will also thrive if people nurture the elements which they desire to spread among people today: prejudice, ignorance and fear of the life of the spirit. There is no better way of encouraging them.

Just think how many people there are today who actually make it their business to foster prejudice, ignorance and fear of the spiritual powers.

So you see, the people who consider themselves to be the most enlightened today are living with entirely unrealistic ideas.

Since 1879 the situation is like this: people go to school and acquire scientific attitudes and thinking; their philosophy of life is then based on this scientific approach and they believe only the things which can be perceived in the world around us to be real, whilst everything else is purely imaginary. When people think like this, and infinitely many people do so today, Ahriman has the upper hand in the game and the ahrimanic powers are doing well. Who are these ahrimanic powers which have established their fortresses in human minds since 1879? They are certainly not human. They are angels, but they are backward angels, angels who are not following their proper course of evolution and therefore no longer know how to perform their proper function in the spiritual world that is next to our own. If they still knew how to do it, they would not have been cast down in 1879. They now want to perform their function with the aid of human brains. They are one level lower in human brains than they should be. ‘Monistic’ thinking, as it is called today, is not really done by humans. People often speak of the science of economics today, a science in which it was said at the time when the war started that it would be over in four months — I mentioned this again yesterday. When these things are said by scientists — it does not matter so much if people merely repeat them — they are the thoughts of angels who have made themselves at home in human heads. Yes, the human intellect is to be taken over more and more by such powers; they want to use it to bring their own lives to fruition. We cannot stand up to this by putting our heads in the sand like ostriches, but only by consciously entering into the experience. We cannot deal with this by not knowing what monists think, for example, but only by knowing it; we must also know that it is Ahriman science, the science of backward angels who infest human heads, and we must know about the truth and the reality.

It is indeed true, and initiates have always said so: ‘When human beings are filled with spiritual wisdom, these are great horrors of darkness for the ahrimanic powers and a consuming fire. It feels good to the ahrimanic angels to dwell in heads filled with ahrimanic science; but heads filled with spiritual wisdom are like a consuming fire and the horrors of darkness to them.’ If we consider this in all seriousness we can feel: filled with spiritual wisdom we go through the world in a way which allows us to establish the right relationship with the ahrimanic powers; doing the things we do in the light of this, we build a place for the consuming fire of sacrifice for the salvation of the world, the place where the terror of darkness radiates out over the harmful ahrimanic element.

Let those ideas and feelings enter into you! You will then be awake and see the things that go on in the world. ~Rudolf Steiner

I usually go to sleep with a question. And instead of awakening with an answer, there is often another question stirring in its place. Last night I went to sleep asking my angel: How can I find balance? (Perhaps we can be the collective “I” & ask it together?) What I awoke with was:

How can I manage to be both highly alert & deeply relaxed? (Remember that Eric B. & Rakim song – Relax With Pep from the Album: Don’t Sweat The Technique?)
Can I be wildly curious & yet also serenely reflective?
Can I imagine being extra hungry to crack life’s secrets, but also at peace with destiny exactly the way it is? Is this what Trust is?

I know deep in my bones, that if we can honestly answer yes, (or at least maybe, or perhaps ok sure, let’s try) to these questions, we will get a lot of help in the coming year. The universe may even seem to be conspiring to educate & heal us, if we manage to stand at the fulcrum of these polarities – Open to receive a steady flow of clues about how to get closer to remembering our dreams & the beings working behind them.

And this is a good way to prepare for The Big Shift (Cause, yeah, I know you know it’s coming, & um really friends, it’s here) Asking us to step up in the conscious cultivation of our mental & emotional states, that will ripen us to be ready for anything. My current ‘cultivate check list’ includes:

a commitment to not getting lost inside my own head;
a strategy to avoid being enthralled with the hypnotic lure of painful emotions, past events, & worries about the future;
a trust in extra-sensory evidence over our time-worn dogmas & unconscious habits;
a talent for turning up my curiosity full blast & tuning in to the raw truth of every moment with my beginner’s mind fully engaged;
and an eagerness to dwell gracefully in the midst of all the interesting questions that tease & teach us.

I’m reminded of Jung’s formula, where we don’t so much solve our problems – we outgrow them. We add capacities & experiences that eventually make us bigger than the problems. Isn’t that the purpose of evolution?

The areas of life that are most crucial for us to deal with can’t be fully understood using the concepts the rational mind favors. The Heart-thinking that will be most useful to explore, rises above the enslaved thoughts we are habitually familiar with.

As Albert Einstein said: ‘We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.’

With this goal in mind, Come join us on Election Night to create a Think Tank – a Mind Trust – a Brainstorming Focus-Group, to practice The Art of Goethean Conversation – envisioning a strategy for a new 3-folding of Society. Feast Day of Luke the Evangelist. The early church fathers ascribed to him authorship of both the Gospel according to Luke & the book of Acts of the Apostles. The New Testament mentions Luke a few times, & the Pauline epistle to the Colossians refers to him as a Greek doctor; so he is thought to have been both a physician & a disciple of Paul. He is believed to have been a martyred, hung in an olive tree.

The Roman Catholic Church & other major denominations venerate him as Saint Luke the Evangelist & as a patron saint of artists, (He was the first icon painter. He painted pictures of the Virgin Mary & Child) physicians, surgeons, students & butchers.

Effective Tools for Suicide Prevention by Jennifer McGregor*

Depression and suicidality are some of the most dangerous and underestimated health conditions affecting people today. The CDC notes suicide as one of the leading causes of death in the U.S. and points out that suicide rates have gone up in nearly every state since 1999. People kill themselves for myriad reasons, ranging from tangible challenges in their day-to-day lives to invisible, internal struggles no one else ever sees.

Fortunately, this is preventable. When it comes to suicide, our actions matter. As a society and as individuals, we have the power to lower suicide rates and protect one another from this avoidable tragedy. Here are some tools you can use to prevent suicide in your community:

Access to Health Care

Suicidality is a medical problem. Proper health care is essential in preventing it:

For many people, talk therapy can reduce suicide urges and provide effective coping tools.
Depending on the root cause behind suicidality, medication may also be appropriate.
Insurance should cover mental health care, at least in part.
If you’re uninsured, there are funding options available to help cover costs.

Strong Social Support

Fight for a strong, supportive community:

Efforts to reduce homelessness can lower suicide rates.
Affordable, accessible treatment for substance use disorders can prevent intentional and accidental overdose.
Mental health services and education in schools can help children, teachers, and parents notice red flags early enough to intervene.
Create safe spaces for at-risk individuals, especially people of color, LGBTQ people, and people with disabilities.

Suicide and the Self

If you struggle with suicidal thoughts or urges, you are not alone, and you can protect yourself.

If you are currently considering harming yourself, seek emergency medical care immediately.
Many people are what’s known as passively suicidal. Though this is marked by a lack of urgency, it is still dangerous, and you should speak to a doctor or therapist as soon as possible.
In addition to talk therapy and medication, coping skills such as exercise, eating a regular, healthy diet, and learning how to sit in unpleasant emotions can make a big difference.
Meditation and mindfulness can also help soothe your spirit and teach you to live in the moment, rather than dwell in the past or fear for the future.

Suicide affects us all on both a community and an interpersonal level. We have to learn how to join together and address the root causes of suicide. In doing so, we can ensure that fewer people – and perhaps, eventually, no one – is lost this way.

Are we brave enough to penetrate to the depths, that perhaps in the past we were too timid to look at, let alone deal with? Our willingness to focus our intention for the good shall give us the power to ultimately emerge from this pandemonium with our integrity, intelligence & heart forces shining.
