True Love

Kenzel Zanderson

When we look out into the world today we see something that has already been there for many years: a tremendous amount of destructiveness. There are forces at work that give us an inkling of the abysses into which western civilization is still to plunge. Looking at those individuals who externally are the cultural leaders in the various fields of life, we notice how they are enmeshed in a terrible cosmic sleep. They think, and until recently most people thought, that until the nineteenth century humankind was childlike and primitive in its insights and views, and that now that modern science has entered into all the various fields, truth has at last arrived, truth that must be upheld forever. People who think like this are, without knowing it, are living in a state of tremendous arrogance. On the other hand, here and there amongst humankind today there are some inklings that things are perhaps not as the majority would like to imagine“.~ Rudolf Steiner – GA 260 – The Christmas Conference- Part Two: The Procedings of the Conference – Dornach, 1st January 1924

Love Heals Painting by Dawn Gray Moraga

A person who knows that love is there for the paying of debts and brings no profit, is a true Christian. To understand the nature of love — that is to be a Christian! Anthroposophy alone, Spiritual Science alone, with its teachings of Karma and reincarnation, can make us into great egoists unless the impulse of love, the Christ Impulse, is added; only so can we acquire the power to overcome the egoism that may be generated by Spiritual Science.

The balance is established by an understanding of the Christ Impulse. Spiritual Science is given to the world today because it is a necessity for humanity; but in it lies the great danger that — if it is cultivated without the Christ Impulse, without the Impulse of love — men will only increase their egoism, will actually breed egoism that lasts even beyond death. From this the conclusion must not be drawn that we should not cultivate Spiritual Science; rather we must learn to realise that understanding of the essential nature of love is an integral part of it.

Nothing is so disturbing, nothing can be so bitter and disheartening, as to experience the result of our failure to develop love and compassion in the physical world. Ascending into the spiritual world, we are filled with anguish by the selfishness and lack of love we have achieved in the physical-sense world.” ~Rudolf steiner – GA 143 – Love and Its Meaning in the World – Zurich, 17th December, 1912

Hell begins the day that God grants you the vision to see all that you could have done, should have done, and would have done, but did not do.”  — Goethe

19 April 2021 – “Speaking with the Stars”: First-quarter Moon is near the stars Castor and Pollux in the constellation Gemini the Twins. In Greek and Roman mythology, Castor and Pollux were the twin sons of Jupiter and Leda and brothers of Helen of Troy. They sailed with Jason as two of his Argonauts.

Pollux, represented by the brighter star, was immortal, but his brother Castor was not. When Castor was killed in a fight, Jupiter wanted the two to remain together, so he decreed that they each should spend some time in the underworld and some time in the heavens. This is a fanciful way of explaining why the constellation is above the horizon for part of each day and below the horizon for the rest. In China, these two stars were associated with water, as part of constellations representing rivers. They were sometimes also seen as the complementary elements of yin and yang.

Calendar of the Soul – Luigi Morelli

For those who are familiar with the Calendar of the Soul we could say that during spring and summer we follow the ascent of cosmic life, cosmic light, cosmic warmth and cosmic Word as gifts bestowed upon the human being by the cosmos. By being receptive to them we strengthen our connection to cosmos and Self.

We will briefly explore the dynamics of the year, then look at what qualities of soul we need to develop as we move into spring and summer, most particularly from Easter to Ascension and Whitsun. We will look at the verses of the calendar in conjunction with the artistic renditions of Anne Stockton and Karl König, drawn for each of the verses.

We will ask ourselves: How can we live into and grow from this time of the year? How can we deepen our inner relationship to the event of Ascension? What can we receive and what can we give?

  1. While the Gospel of Luke describes the relationship between Jesus and John the Baptist as being cousins, it is only in the Gospel of John that it is revealed that John knows the significance of this; even before Jesus comes to know, John knows: (John 1: 29-39)

29 The next day John saw Jesus coming to him and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! 30 This is He on behalf of whom I said, ‘After me comes a Man who has a higher rank than I, for He existed before me.’ 31 I did not recognize Him, but so that He might be manifested to Israel, I came baptizing in water.” 32 John testified saying, “I have seen the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven, and He remained upon Him. 33 I did not recognize Him, but He who sent me to baptize in water said to me, ‘He upon whom you see the Spirit descending and remaining upon Him, this is the One who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.’ 34 I myself have seen, and have testified that this is the Son of God.”

    Jesus’ Public Ministry, First Converts

35 Again the next day John was standing with two of his disciples, 36 and he looked at Jesus as He walked, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God!” 37 The two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus. 38 And Jesus turned and saw them following, and said to them, “What do you seek?” They said to Him, “Rabbi (which translated means Teacher), where are You staying?” 39 He said to them, “Come, and you will see.”

It is the part about being “The Lamb of God” that surely gives it away.

    1. Steve, how are you able to separate the thoughts in your posts into paragraphs? I asked Hazel, and she didn’t know. I’ll type up a reply and divide it into paragraphs, and when it’s posted it’s all jumbled together. This isn’t the case with other Word Press blogs.

There is the mention in Luke’s gospel about the fetus in Elizabeth’s womb leaping for joy at Mary’s visit and greeting; Elizabeth is also filled with the Holy Spirit, we’re told, and her response is recorded by Luke. Only a physician like Luke would see this as being important enough to record.

There’s nothing to indicate that Jesus wasn’t aware that He was the Lamb of God. After all, if he knew at the age of 12 that He was to be about His Father’s business, and was teaching the teachers of Israel in the temple, my guess would be that He knew what His mission was. Any hesitancy on His part to be baptized by John would be a matter of timing, always doing things according to the time set out by His Father, and a matter of submitting in obedience to the fulfillment of prophecy and to His Father’s will, instead of setting his own agenda.

I’ve divided these thoughts into paragraphs for clarity, but I’m willing to guess that it’ll all be jumbled together again.

      1. It looks like the paragraphing issue is solved. In my posts, it is all jumbled together until approved, and then appears normal.

In The Fifth Gospel, it is described how Jesus came to know at the age of 12 the working of the Father. Yet, he was taken back to Nazareth, and remained in subjection as he grew in “stature and wisdom”. As he grew in wisdom, due to the incorporation of the Zarathustra-Ego, he eventually came to be discouraged and despairing of the meaning of it all. Chief feature here is the experience of the “Bath Kol” when he was 24; the loss of the divine wisdom of the Hebrews traceable back to Abraham. So, he became more and more despairing of what his mission was actually to be, and then poured out his heart and soul to his stepmother. This is when the guidance to the River Jordan began. Imagine Jesus wondering, “why I am here, and how did I get here”? John provides the first clue, which are enigmatic words, only fully elaborated in Revelations, wherein the “Lamb of God” is the central catalyst.

Jesus, having never been born in a human incarnation, was the necessary guiltless, karma-less, unstamped template to become a human soul at the midpoint of earth evolution.

  2. “A person who knows that love is there for the paying of debts and brings no profit, is a true Christian. To understand the nature of love — that is to be a Christian! And the first true Christian was Christ Himself! I’m so glad I had time to read your post today; it’s helped my understanding immensely. Cayce tells us that the soul who became Jesus was the same soul that was Adam. He was what Paul calls “the first Adam”; but he became the second Adam also with His resurrection. He was able to accomplish this act of love through the power of the Christ Being who indwelt Him. I now understand better the compassion that He felt for all that were suffering various ills, and why He spent so much of His limited time on Earth healing them – he was paying His own karmic debt as Adam for bringing all this suffering, and introducing death. I’m not excusing myself – I’m responsible for my own failures. I have only myself to blame for my karmic debt. But this helps me understand that Jesus was paying His own debt. When He said “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do,” He completely understood this because he had done the same thing once – He didn’t know what He was doing; what He was introducing into the human race through a single act of disobedience. Cayce also tells us that His mother Mary was His twin soul, which probably made her Eve, the helpmeet for Adam. She too had a “sword pierce her own soul”; she didn’t escape her karmic debt either.

This is what I so appreciate about Steiner’s material, and the Cayce material – their emphasis on the teaching about the Christ, and in this case on true love. Thank you Hazel for providing this material for our understanding. I realize this won’t sit well with some people – those who believe that Jesus was without sin. He was – as JESUS!, but that doesn’t take into account that his soul had been Adam. And the only mention that He is without sin is in His present position as the resurrected Being who is our High Priest (Hebrews 4:15). He finished the work, paid His karmic debt, and now He represents us without sin, to be sure. Exploring thoughts like this that are outside of the box are why I think my new name suits me so well – I am a true maverick!

    1. Hi M –
There is another half to that story of Adam. Spiritual Science tells us the highest ego or “I” of Adam & Eve stayed behind in the Spiritual World the ‘Mother Lodge’, & did not experience the fall. This part of Adam is referred to as ‘the Nathan Soul’
This being came into incarnation for the first time in the Luke Jesus.

That pure part of Eve was incarnated for the first time in the Luke Mary his mother.

The Adam that went thru the fall & had many incarnations was born again as John the Baptist.

And Eve who also had many incarnations was born as the Mary of the Matthew Gospel, a wise initiate.
She gave birth to the Matthew Jesus who was a reincarnation of the high initiate Zarathustra.

When the 2 Jesus children were around 12 they merged & became known as Jesus of Nazareth. Who then received the Christ at the Baptism by John.
Since John was Adam & the Luke Jesus was that pure part of Adam they were incarnated together for the first time.

But it’s important to note thatJesus of Nazareth had no Karma – he was the 1st human being on Earth that, because he had no other incarnations had no karma.

The story is a bit complicated when you first hear it. There are many other factors. The 2 Mary’s join together as well, right before the Baptism, it’s very compelling.
If you are interested to learn more I recommend Rudolf Steiner’s lecture series the 5th Gospel https://wn.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA148/English/SCR2006/FiGFTS_index.html

Lecture 12 has a concise synopsis, but if you have the will, read it all. You’ll have to buy the book since the archives only gives you the 1st 5 lectures.
Of all Steiner’s work this is the quintessential Christology.

      1. Thanks Hazel. I have a copy of the 5th Gospel; will check it out. Have attempted a while back to digest all that, but find it confusing.

  3. You write: Jesuit Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger is elected to the papacy and becomes Pope Benedict XVI.
Josph Ratzinger wasnt Jesuit. Pope Franciscus was the first Jesuit to become Pope.
