Chicago Event – Whitsun Sunday – Watercolor Painting at the World Festival of Knowledge

Dear friends –

Come join us this Sunday. Together we will create an Ecclesia, a vessel, a chalice

for the Spirit, by rising in our thinking, feeling & willing.

Then the spirit flame can spread out to become what Steiner called a “World Whitsun”,

which began in earnest at the Christmas conference, where the inverted Whitsun was born.

Our work is to take our individual Inner Whitsun & expand it,

into what Steiner calls the “World Festival of Knowledge”

a path leading from ‘Sprit Recollection’, to ‘Sprit Sensing’, to ‘Sprit Beholding.’

Whitsun Sunday 2pm – 4pm May 24th  2015

In May I go a-walking

To hear the robins sing.

The blackbirds and the thrushes

A-praising God the king.

It cheers the heart to hear them,

To see the leaves unfold.

The meadow covered over

With buttercups of gold.

Festival – Whitsun

Many are called, few are chosen…

Dear Sisters & Brothers –

As seekers on the path, have you ever felt utterly alone, overwhelmed, or even a bit lost?

Perhaps when you 1st began to know anthroposophy?

Steiner speaks of this in ‘How to Know Higher Worlds’ & in the 5th Gospel.

We have an opportunity on Whitsun to recognize & acknowledge the isolation that can come from our striving, a mirroring of the experience of the apostles those 10 days between Ascension & Whitsun.

That uncomfortable feeling when waiting feels like wrestling.

During our time together, we will work with the Whitsun imagination to creatively explore how we may engage in the lifting out of the ‘Me’ into the ‘We’, out of opinion into wisdom; warming the I, to open the heart, in support of healthy community.

We will endeavor to strengthen our individual soul forces to collectively open the portal into the Spirit worlds.

As Steiner’s Whitsun verse states:

“This portal’s key the Soul may fashion

If she herself grow strong within the strife”

“May our feeling penetrate

To the center of our hearts –

And seek, in love, to unite with those who share our goals

And with the spirits who look down benevolently

on our hearts earnest strivings

Sending us strength from realms of light

to illuminate our love.”

A Festival of the Higher Self

Dear friends –

The Ascension picture tells us that the deed of Golgotha was fulfilled for the physical & etheric body in the universal human sense.

Whitsun tells us that each single human being must make this deed bear fruit by willing our thinking to rise up to meet the Spirit of Wisdom – A challenge to strive towards spiritual knowledge –

A challenge to stay awake during the out-breath –

So that the ‘tongues of fire’ don’t get replaced with cold electric light.

Ascension Thursday 2015

Greetings on this Ascension Thursday –

The relationship between heaven & earth is always changing. In this we see the miracle of the seasons – the breathing-in & breathing-out of the earth soul.

At the time of the Ascension of Christ, nature celebrates the ascension of the soul of the earth.

It is not by chance that the 40 days between Easter & Ascension coincide with the spring season when the earth soul begins its out-breath. Every year, when the earth breathes out in springtime, the mystery of the Ascension of Christ, Who is the Spirit of the Earth, is renewed.

Ascension is a festival of the hierarchies. Remember, that when Christ descended thru the heavens,

& came into human form, the hierarchies lost His presence. They could only find Him by looking into the depths  – bearing witness to  the God Who entered physical existence to remind earthly humanity of its cosmic citizenship.

At the Ascension, the mystery of the resurrection was brought for the 1st time to the company of heaven – Signaling the return of the lost world of earth into the community of the stars. Since that time, the life of this planet is renewed with the cosmic forces that stream earthward.

The sacrifice of Christ initiated on earth, was the antidote to the consequences of death brought on by the Fall – the redemptive deed that turns death into life.

The Concentrated seed of Christ’s deed, continues to grow in the earth thru the connection to the stars.

The Blossoms & fruits we see now are in reality not just products of earth but heavenly forms filled with earthly substance, like us.

I write these thoughts to you today just as our lawyers are presenting our case for tax exemption,

in the hope that we can join our thinking, feeling & willing in Good Will, for the best possible outcome!

The Buddha (whose name means: *The Awakened One* or *One who Knows*) is regarded as the ninth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. He was born in 563 BC on the Full Moon of May in Vaisakh. Traditionally, Buddha’s Birthday is known as Wesak or Visakah Puja (Buddhas Day).

Wesak, the major Buddhist festival of the year, celebrates the birth, enlightenment and death of the Buddha on one and the same day, when the Sun is in Taurus, and the Moon in Scorpio.

The Full Moon in May is a mystically auspicious time – This ‘Buddha Moon’ is considered to be the greatest moment of spiritual contact for the entire year.

Great polarities are said to be synthesized and consequently united at this festival.

Hope is revived in the world, and great seeds of beauty, truth, and goodness are planted within us — qualities needed for the unity of humankind.

Ancient Wisdom asserts that there will be a new coming of the World Avatar and those beings who assist them. But the reality set forth and embedded within this festival, is that WE, as a living unit called humanity, are to be that World Avatar, when we can live as “Christ in me”…

The Wesak Festival provides us each year with a reception of the tools of love and wisdom, to fulfill this ancient prophecy. What all the higher beings have done, we can do also, taking up our responsibility as the 10th hierarchy to radiate the Christ Impulse out to all the kingdoms of Earth -becoming like little suns – emanating rays from the very core of our “I”, through the vehicle of our bodies, from our purified hearts, and specifically from our forehead, where our third eye is located. This is the Bulls Eye of Taurus – the Sun of May – and the mystery of the transformative Scorpio Moon.

The Full Buddha Moon is exact at 12:42pm CST, on May 3rd 2015, we will see it rise over the Great Inland Sea of Chicago at 7:32pm, and it will set on May 4th at 6:13am.

Rudolf Steiner’s Calendar of the Soul and the Christ Impulse

A Lecture and Seminar with Herbert Hagens

Friday, May 8, Lecture – 7pm –9pm The weekly verses in the Calendar of the Soul create a special dynamic for one’s meditative life during the course of the year. In his lecture, Herbert Hagens will speak about how working with the Calendar can awaken us to the Christ impulse and the development of ego-consciousness. We will focus in particular on the period between Easter and Whitsun. ($10 suggested donation)

Saturday, May 9, Seminar – 10am – 4:30pm (Lunch break: 12:30 – 2pm)  The seminar will allow us to explore in greater depth through conversation and artistic activity (eurythmy).
