Comet Double x2

In connection to illness Rudolf Steiner gives reference to ‘the double’’ – those parts of us that hold our unconscious, unredeemed parts, which can be attached to any of our sheaths: physical, etheric, & astral. To really know the double we have to understand Anthroposophic medicine, which tells us, certain illnesses like epidemics don’t just come from outside us, they come from our double.

Steiner describes the Ahrimanic double as the creator of all organic illnesses – And the Luciferic double, as the creator of all nervous illnesses. He goes on to talk about the geographical forces that can promote these 2 kinds of sickness- forces coming up from the different regions of the earth prone to one or the other of these doubles within us. Steiner specifically mentions America as “…the region where the magnetic forces of sub-nature in particular arise, that bring the human being into relation with the Ahrimanic double” ~Rudolf Steiner, Geographic Medicine.

True Medicine must become a Spiritual Science, since illness comes from these beings which make use of the human body in order to profit from it. These doubles come into each of us before birth & they leave our human body only because they cannot endure death. Illness often emerges because this double works in us. And when homeopathic remedies are given, Steiner describes how “…the double lets go of the human being and becomes satisfied with what we toss into its jaws as a remedy” ~Rudolf Steiner, Geographic Medicine.

Anthroposophical Psychology says “Shadow work” is the voluntary examination of our own internal darkness, which lacks the light of awareness, so it is often hidden from us. Obviously it takes courage to voluntarily look into the dark crevices of own psyche, where repressed traumas, inherited fear programs, undigested pain & all sorts of other disturbing & uncomfortable revelations lie buried. And as we have seen no matter how much we ignore, reject or deny the shadow, it will never just disappear. In fact, quite the opposite is true. The very fear that keeps us from looking at it is the same fear that feeds it. Hiding behind a mask will not keep us safe.

I believe times like these are a collective wake up call to actively participate in healing our shadow work. Friends, the Coronavirus can be seen as an agent of change. Will we actively participate in a conscious change, or will we let it be dictated to us?

If we breathe out fear & anxiety, we can engage our soul forces in spiritual activity – a practical expression of compassion for humanity on both sides of the threshold, with the ever present help of the spiritual world.

Steiner tells us that a karmic bond is created between people who belong together here on earth, & in the spiritual world; & that this relationship then works back onto the physical-sense world, which is continually under the influence of the spiritual world. What takes place here, are only effects. The causes occur beyond, in the spiritual world.

“…Indeed the time has come for us to find the courage in our souls to proclaim quite frankly before the world that the spiritual life must be placed on its own foundation. Many people are asking: Well, what are we to do? The first thing of importance is to inform people about what is needed: to get as many people as possible to comprehend the necessity, for example, of establishing the spiritual life on its own foundation; to comprehend that what the pedagogy of the 19th century has become can no longer suffice for the welfare of humankind, but that it must be built anew out of a free spiritual life. There is as yet little courage in souls to present this demand in a really radical way; and it can be thus presented only by trying to bring to as many people as possible a comprehension of these conditions. All other social work today is provisional. When And Where You Can See Jupiter, Saturn And A Half-Moon Make A Triangle In The Night Sky This Week

This is the time of year when the Big Dipper lies down horizontal low in the north-northwest during evening.

There are currently four comets within range – periodic comet 156P/Russell-LINEAR in the evening sky & Comets ATLAS (C/2020 M3), Erasmus (C/2020 S3), & NEOWISE is also back (C/2020 P1) visible in the early morning hours.

Dr. Rudolf Steiner, in the course of his clairvoyant investigations, made regular descriptions of the nature of comets. His first description of comets is very esoteric – given on 2 Sept. 1906: “A comet is an assemblage of Kama, desire-substance, without the corresponding spiritual substance. The comet gets as far only as the astral body. The visibility of comets arises from the powerful friction caused by the astral body passing through etheric substance.” ~At the Gates of Spiritual Science.

“The comet works upon the physical and etheric or life bodies of man in such a way that they actually create organs, delicate organs that are suitable for the further development of the I – the I-consciousness as it has developed especially since the embedding of the Christ impulse in the earth. Since that time the significance of the comet’s appearance is that the I, as it develops from stage to stage, receives physical and etheric organs it can use.”

“The various comets have here their different tasks, and when a comet has served its purpose it splinters…The entry of an elemental impulse, always incorporating something new, is connected with the influence of the comets.

“As when a new little child is born, so it is when, through the return of a comet, something quite new is produced. We must remember, however, that with certain comets the I is always driven more and more into the physical world, and this is something we must resist.“

“On the other hand, is it not wonderful that cometary existence takes hold of the depths of life, including the animal and plant life that is bound up with human life? It actually disappears on the one side and appears again on the other. Thus, in short, with the exception of a few comets which really have long-drawn elliptical orbits, the comets for the most part are so formed that they come in at the one side and disappear at the other, and when they reappear they have formed themselves anew. Why? Because as a comet approaches, it exercises a power of attraction – it is, at first, merely a sort of spiritual force centre; this centre attracts all the harmful astral streams, develops them around itself and thus takes on form. In its journey towards the other side it draws this along with it, until it gets beyond the region of the planetary system, when it casts it off into cosmic space. Then the centre of force builds itself again at the other pole without needing three-dimensional space, once more takes up the harmful matter and throws it out the other side.“

Every culture has a festival celebrating their Beloved Dead. For deep in our bones we know that those who have passed through the gates of death want to work with us on the physical world, reminding us that everything physical is an outer expression of spirit.

During this time of year the veils between the worlds are thin, and the spiritual realm beckons. Having put the iron will of Michael to work in our thinking, we now have the courage to look beyond the veil of the material world into the spirit realm, the place of our beginning and our ending, only to begin again and yet again…for every ending is a new beginning.

We will open with some poetry and music played by Carol Kelly, followed by an enactment of an original script by Hazel Archer-Ginsberg, based on indications from Spiritual Science.

We will go into small breakout groups to explore the theme: “Who do you want to be in the new year”.

Taproot

An African proverb says, “If you want to go fast, go alone – If you want to go far, go together.”

Psychologist Carl Jung says that we are all connected to each other thru the collective unconscious. Our souls have taproots that sink deep into the memories & capacities of the entire human evolution.

Let’s make the collective unconscious, conscious, so that our taproots can bring us into a more intimate contact with the primal pool of possibilities – Giving us the power to draw on mojo, above & below, that transcends our individual personal abilities.

During this time of year as the veils between the worlds thin, to ‘Practice Spirit-Recalling’ asks us to make use of the liquid lightning, the warm ambrosial memory, & healing balm from the beginning of time. Standing upright at the point, we move to the periphery where the encircling round helps us ‘Practice Spirit-Sensing‘ – this is where we find the helpers. Going into the cosmic depths allows us to ‘Practice Spirit-Beholding’ where we can co-create with our cosmic future.

There are a couple of caveats, though: The primal truth won’t be simple & bright; it is bound to be dense, convoluted, & kaleidoscopic – Opening our vision into the dark crevasses of our inner psyche.

It is an excellent time to devote ingenuity to improving the way we communicate with the shadow, our black-sheep-self, the fallen angels that have lost their way, feral mavericks that want to reveal their tricks, maybe even the mother-in-law that never understood. Let’s embrace the odd ducks, the co-workers who tie us into tight karmic knots; & even the sleepwalkers who don’t share the same political, economic, or spiritual views. But remember, no matter what, we are all still connected at the taproot, & the Tree of Life has joined with the Tree of Knowledge, & the fruit waits to be ripened thru the warmth & light of ‘What from our hearts We are founding, What from our heads, We direct, With Single purpose, And focused willing’…

21 October 2020 – “Speaking with the Stars”: Bella Luna nearing first quarter, shines in a line with Saturn & Jupiter.

It’s mid-October, so Deneb has replaced Vega as the zenith star after nightfall. Capricornus has replaced Sagittarius as the zodiacal constellation due south.

Our cosmic conversation continues: The Orionids – Peak these next few days.

The meteor shower of the Mighty Hunter Orion is underway, with the earth traveling once again through the trail of cosmic dust left by Halley’s Comet.

From an article by Dr Elizabeth Vreede: ” Comets represent an element that does not wholly enter the usual sphere of cosmic law, although they still contain a trace of the direct working of spiritual powers, indeed, of the very highest — the Seraphim and Cherubim. Before ordinary law may be broken through, the very highest power and insight is required. The various comets, indeed, are agents of a very special nature in our planetary system, their polar antithesis being in the moons. Just as the moons are a kind of corpse which the planetary system trails along with it, so, on the other side, the comets may be spoken of as constant purifiers of the spiritual atmosphere within the solar system. In earlier times men thought of them as the “scavengers of God,” and many superstitions have gathered around them. To the eye of Spirit, too, the mission of the comets is perpetually to expel impure astral forces from the Cosmos or to introduce new impulses.”

5 things you need to know about the Orionid meteor shower:

5. The meteors are actually debris from the Comet Halley – The Comet Halley hasn’t paid Earth a visit since 1986, but pieces of the famous space rock still show up every fall. Each year, around October 20-22, our planet intersects with the comet’s orbit, according to Earth Sky. Pieces of Halley disintegrate in Earth’s upper atmosphere nearly 60 miles above the planet’s surface, but not before creating quite the spectacle for those down below.

4. Let’s be honest, watching this thing is a commitment. Experts agree that the shower will take place before dawn on October 21 or 22, but can’t pinpoint an exact date.

3. 10-20 Meteors Could Fall Each Hour – The Orionid Meteor Shower is a “modest shower.” That means you won’t see a constant stream of glowing rocks plummeting toward Earth at any given moment. Don’t let that fool you. Those watching from dark or rural locations will still have a front row seat for the kind of spectacle that only comes from space.

2. …And They’ll Be Traveling At 41 Miles Per Second – You read that right. 41 miles per second. These rocks are literally scorching across the sky as they enter Earth’s atmosphere. Roughly half of these blazing fast meteors will leave gas trails behind them that are visible for a few seconds after the meteor is gone.

1. From. Every. Direction.- The Orionids flying from the sky this month are named after the constellation Orion, where they appear to radiate. The thing is, these meteors generally aren’t visible until they’re at least 30 degrees from that radiant point. This means they can appear any & everywhere in the night sky. If watching with a party, focus on different areas of the night sky & be sure to call out the meteors as you see them.

I usually go to sleep with a question. And instead of awakening with an answer, there is often another question stirring in its place. Last night I went to sleep asking my angel: How can I find balance? (Perhaps we can be the collective “I” & ask it together?) What I awoke with was:

How can I manage to be both highly alert & deeply relaxed? (Remember that Eric B. & Rakim song – Relax With Pep from the Album: Don’t Sweat The Technique?)
Can I be wildly curious & yet also serenely reflective?
Can I imagine being extra hungry to crack life’s secrets, but also at peace with destiny exactly the way it is? Is this what Trust is?

I know deep in my bones, that if we can honestly answer yes, (or at least maybe, or perhaps ok sure, let’s try) to these questions, we will get a lot of help in the coming year. The universe may even seem to be conspiring to educate & heal us, if we manage to stand at the fulcrum of these polarities – Open to receive a steady flow of clues about how to get closer to remembering our dreams & the beings working behind them.

And this is a good way to prepare for The Big Shift (Cause, yeah, I know you know it’s coming, & um really friends, it’s here) Asking us to step up in the conscious cultivation of our mental & emotional states, that will ripen us to be ready for anything. My current ‘cultivate check list’ includes:

a commitment to not getting lost inside my own head;
a strategy to avoid being enthralled with the hypnotic lure of painful emotions, past events, & worries about the future;
a trust in extra-sensory evidence over our time-worn dogmas & unconscious habits;
a talent for turning up my curiosity full blast & tuning in to the raw truth of every moment with my beginner’s mind fully engaged;
and an eagerness to dwell gracefully in the midst of all the interesting questions that tease & teach us.

I’m reminded of Jung’s formula, where we don’t so much solve our problems – we outgrow them. We add capacities & experiences that eventually make us bigger than the problems. Isn’t that the purpose of evolution?

Feast Day of Luke the Evangelist. The early church fathers ascribed to him authorship of both the Gospel according to Luke & the book of Acts of the Apostles. The New Testament mentions Luke a few times, & the Pauline epistle to the Colossians refers to him as a Greek doctor; so he is thought to have been both a physician & a disciple of Paul. He is believed to have been a martyred, hung in an olive tree.

The Roman Catholic Church & other major denominations venerate him as Saint Luke the Evangelist & as a patron saint of artists, (He was the first icon painter. He painted pictures of the Virgin Mary & Child) physicians, surgeons, students & butchers.

Working into October’s Virtue “Satisfaction Becomes Serenity” continued:

This morning at dawn, I could perceive a hint of white mist, spreading across the glassy lake; expanding over the fields of exposed seeds & brown stubble like a soft cloth. Nature is beginning her gestation, concealing in her womb the seeds of future growth. So rests also in our souls the seed of future life. What the future will bring us seems covered by these mists, & the darkening. But now the time has come when in the longer nights this spiritual seed wants to be cherished & nurtured.

We can belong to ourselves again, igniting our inner light. If we foster this calm self-contemplation in our busy lives, even if only for a few minutes every day, we can live with a deep serenity, thru this dark season, & also into the future which is shrouded in the darkness of time.

We must remember that all human life must fluctuate like the scales between two poles, it cannot be fixed. Day & night, life & death, activity & quietness, the out-breath & the in-breath, are the swipes of the pendulum, the rhythms which bear us thru the cycle of the year, & enable us to mature into our true being, when we have found the inner observer at the fulcrum of the scales.

16 October 2020 – “Speaking with the Stars”: New Moon occurs this afternoon at 2:31: pm CT. Our satellite is also at perigee, the closest point in its orbit around our planet.

October 2020 has Two full moons (Blue Moon on Halloween!) with a meteor shower sandwiched in between – The annual Orionid meteor shower is already heating up. It generally lasts from early October through about Nov. 7. This year, it’s expected to reach its peak before dawn on Oct. 21. But don’t wait until then to start watching for meteors streaking across the sky. Earth passes through the trail of space debris (rocky dust and ice) left in the wake of Comet Halley. The Orionids, are considered to be one of the most beautiful showers of the year, known for their brightness & speed. Fast meteors can leave glowing ‘trains’ (incandescent bits of debris in the wake of the meteor) which last for several seconds to minutes. Fast meteors can also sometimes become fireballs: Look for prolonged explosions of light when viewing the Orionid meteor shower. You can typically see them anytime after dark, but after midnight is your best bet, & very early mornings are prime time to see these. So if you find yourself up early, like me, say from 4 am – 6 am – you’ve got a good shot at seeing them if you live in a place with dark skies. While the radiant for this meteor shower – the spot where the meteors seem to come from – is the constellation Orion, you can usually see these meteors from anywhere in the sky. So get outside early, look up & let your gaze wander.

1793 – Marie Antoinette, widow of Louis XVI, is guillotined at the height of the French Revolution.

1827 – Birthday of Arnold Bocklin , a Swiss symbolist painter portraying mythological, fantastical figures along classical architecture constructions creating a strange, fantasy world. Böcklin is best known for his five versions of the Isle of the Dead, which partly evokes the Cemetery close to his studio where his baby daughter Maria had been buried.

Rudolf Steiner speaks of him as an Arthurian Knight: Thus even in the 9th century, in the paganism of Europe, there still lived much of the pre-Christian Christianity. That is the remarkable fact. Moreover even in that time the belated followers of European paganism understood the Cosmic Christ far more worthily and truly than those who received the Christ in the Christianity that was spread officially under that name. Strangely we can see the life around King Arthur radiate into the present time, continued even into our time, placed into the immediate present by the sudden power of destiny. Thus I beheld in seership a member of the Round Table of King Arthur, who lived the life of the Round Table in a very deep and intense way, though he stood a little aside from the others who were given more to the adventures of their knighthood. This was a knight who lived a rather contemplative life, though it was not like the Knighthood of the Grail, for this did not exist in Arthur’s circle. What the knights did in the fulfilment of their tasks, which in accordance with that age were for the most part warlike campaigns, was called by the name ‘Adventure’ (Aventure). But there was one who stood out from among the others as I saw him, revealing a life truly wonderful in its inspiration. For we must imagine the knights going out on to the spur of land, seeing the wonderful play of clouds above, the waves beneath, the surging interplay of the one and the other, which gives a mighty and majestic impression to this very day. In all this they saw the Spiritual and were inspired with it, and this gave them their strength. But there was one among them who penetrated most deeply into this surging and foaming of the waves, with the spiritual beings wildly rising in the foam with their figures grotesque to earthly sight. He had a wonderful perception of the way in which the marvellously pure sun-influence played into the rest of nature, living and weaving in the spiritual life and movement of the surface of the ocean. He saw what lived in the light nature of the sun, borne up as it were by the watery atmosphere as we can see to this day, the sunlight approaching the trees and the spaces between the trees quite differently than in other regions, glittering back from between the trees, and playing often as in rainbow colours. Such a knight there was among them, one who had a peculiarly penetrating vision of these things. I was much concerned to follow his life into later time to see the individuality again. For just in this case something would needs enter into a later incarnation of a Christian life that was almost primitive and pagan, that was Christian only to the extent that I have just described. And this in fact was what appeared, for that Knight of the Round Table of King Arthur was born again as Arnold Böcklin. This riddle which had followed me for an immensely long time, can only be solved in connection with the Round Table of King Arthur. Thus you see that we have a Christianity tangible with spiritual touch to this very day, a Christianity before the Mystery of Golgotha which shed its light even into the time that I have just outlined ~Karmic Relationships, Volume IV: Lecture III

1922 – The founding of the Esoteric Youth Circle by Rudolf Steiner. Notes from the various preparatory discussions for the founding of the Group:

‘If I am to go into what I understand with the term “esoteric group” then let me say that if you want to take the esoteric earnestly, you must say to yourself that it is an action out of the impulses from the spiritual world. One can strive toward this. Anthroposophy is a path to this end. To build such a community would constitute a decision to set upon this path.

The spiritual is a living element & so such a group must not be something dead. The group must be a force-group. The health of each part is the health of the whole. It is the mutual taking on of karma that is created in such a community. There is then mutual suffering to live through, but also mutual joy. People must be treated like fellow human beings, with all their imperfections.

What you seek is to find a friend in the spiritual world. The important thing is to remain spiritually true to the friend once found. Therefore, the 1^st requirement is that you learn quite precisely what spiritual loyalty is.

Your community will have in it something of the primordial mystery of all human community. This mystery is that, what we ourselves do within the community bears no fruit for us ourselves, but for others, & that the fruits for us come from others.

We must work for the progress of humanity – Just as the physical social life consists of deeds done together, so too we strive for common deeds in the spirit – thus actually, for a social working in the suprasensible.

We must endeavor to carry spirit into the furthest consequences of our actions. This alone – that we bring spirit & love into our will – can make it possible to stand firmly against being overrun by the cultural machine. Too few people today develop real initiative. There is a lot of willfulness, but little will.

The true meditation is a fulfilling of the spiritual will that the Time Spirit bears with itself. Where such meditation is practiced, a spiritual force is able to work into the earthly events. Spiritual worlds want to work in to earthly events today, but they can do this only when, through human meditation, space is created for it. Through meditation, something like an empty space comes about. Into this space, the spiritual beings can enter with their effects. And the power of meditating such a meditation in common increases by potentization.

When we do this community-meditation, it will bring about a deeper connection of the core of our being with our sheaths.

These meditations, when used correctly, could become something like windows into the spiritual world. The words & pictures given, form only half of what is to be entrusted to us. The other half we are to find ourselves through spiritual activity.

Each of you must feel joy for the success of the other. You must avoid every feeling of rivalry & have the awareness that what each of you accomplishes, you accomplish through the power of all of the others.

Uniting yourself through a mutual promise to strive toward a common spiritual goal – & leaving one another completely free in actions & judgements in life – such a community based on this is something completely new in the evolution of humanity. And it is what is most necessary today.

For someone who comes to specific results on the esoteric path, there is always the danger of delusions of grandeur. Such a community as yours can be a protection against this. For in it, you strive together to cross the threshold of the spiritual world. And there each of you has to say that you have the efforts of all the others to thank for what you have achieved personally.

Effects will arise in the destiny between human beings who are connected with us in the community physically & spiritually. The community will never die out. With the 1^st community members who reincarnate, the community returns to Earth.

By persevering with the exercises we have a chance to stand up to Ahrimanic powers that no one person can withstand.

Through the reading of the oath given by Rudolf Steiner on 16 October 1922, in the presence of the others, the admittance into the community was effected.

And now consider your community as having been founded by the spiritual world itself…Now get to know each other well.

This gave us the idea to tell each other our biography at the mutual acceptance into membership.

What has taken place now is a 1^st in the post-Christian era: human beings themselves chose, out of freedom before the spiritual world, to join together esoterically’.
