Listen to ‘The Loving Cup on ‘I Think Speech’
Greetings dear friends on this Eve of the Summer Solstice –
Listen – a mysterious chorus is magicing the atmosphere, vibrating in the twilight of this long lingering day. Look – there – as the sapphire sky merges into cobalt blue – there – bright in the West – spreading on the wings of Venus, holding the occult powers of Mercury, we meet the Holy Grail.
Supporting from below, we see The Dioscuri = Castor and Pollux – The Twins of Gemini, showing us our immortal human-ness.
And there – Capping Space – Above the Goddess of Healing Love, stands virile Mars.
Dear Ones, Will you endeavor to read the starry script? – What will come forth with the pronouncing of the secret name inscribed there on the cup?
20 June 2023 – “Speaking with the Stars”
And so it is that for 3 days ‘The Sun Stands Still‘ at Solstice. In our present age, our Day-Star- Sun enters the fixed stars of Gemini, the Twins; which puts Mother-Earth in the opposite stars of the Archer -the constellation connected to the Winter Solstice. This is the vertical axis in the life of Sun & Earth.
The Equinoxes of Spring & Autumn hold the horizontal axis, forming ‘The Great Cross’ of nature – the seasonal life & symbol of Earth.
Upon this cross we have the Christian festivals, with St. John’s & Christmas coinciding with this vertical axis, & Easter & Michaelmas along the horizontal axis.
When thinking about the breathing, living cycle of the Earth, we learn from Spiritual Science, that at Summer Solstice the Soul & Spirit of the Earth, (which is now imbued with the Christ) are fully exhaled out to the periphery of the cosmos, to become intermingled with the grandeur of the highest cosmic mysteries, where the primal forces of life exist amongst the stars.
The soul of the Earth is dreaming now in the heights. The forces which live in the seeds are held now in these Summer dreams of the Earth in union with the hierarchies, & it is this dreaming which is brought back into the Earth to become assessable during the sacred time of the Holy Nights.
The Summertime union between the Sun & Earth is actually a re-union between the spiritual beings of the Sun & their human offspring. Through ‘the great window of heaven’ we experience this interaction which helps us develop an awareness of our higher “I”. We can contemplate this dynamic & bring it to life in our soul most strongly at this time of year.
At Midsummer the Trinity reveals itself out of the heart of this cosmic activity – A sounding in the music of the spheres, that calls us to explore our own inner harmony with the cosmos – an answering echo that unites us to the eternity of the Trinity.
At this time when the ‘Sun Stands Still’ – Can WE learn to be still enough to hear the voice of conscience?

I am so excited and appreciative that you have indicated here something that is rarely ever mentioned within present-day astronomy. That is, the objective positions of the Sun and the Earth on the Ecliptic. You wrote:

This is so important hear, and keep as a constant point of meditation. Along with this consideration is the Moon, whose position changes day by day. This forms the breathing process of the Earth, and it has to do with the nutation of the earth’s axis in its uniquely oblique position on the Ecliptic. This lecture from Man: Hieroglyph of the Universe is a milestone in conveying this description, and other attributes of what makes US the Hieroglyphic Human Being.

“If we take the statements of modern astronomy — we need not interpret them here, we shall speak of their meaning later — we shall find that it is a matter of indifference whether we assume that the motion of the Sun is apparent, or the motion of the Earth; that does not concern us — but let us now take that which the Astronomer of today calls Nutation of the Earth’s Axis.”
A great lecture where Steiner shows the correspondences between our breathing & the larger cycles…Amazing…
“…The Earth dances, and she dances in such a manner as to describe a cone, a double cone, in 18 years, and this dancing is a reflection of the macrocosmic breathing. This takes place just as many times in the macrocosmic year as the 18 human respirations during the microcosmic day of 24 hours.
So we really have one macrocosmic respiration per minute in this Nutation movement. In other words, we look into this breathing of the Macrocosm through this Nutation movement of the Moon, and we have before us what corresponds to respiration in the human being…
It must not be thought that the world composing our every-day environment is merely permeated in an abstract way by the astral world; rather should we say, it breathes in the astral world, and we can observe the astral in this breathing process through the Moon’s motion or nutation. You will realise that we have here come to something of great significance. If you remember what I said recently, we may put it in the following way. We have, on the one hand, our world as it is generally observed; and we have in addition, the materialistic superstition that, for instance, if we gaze upwards, we see the Sun, a ball of gas, as it is described in books. This is nonsense. The Sun is not a ball of gas; but in that place where the Sun is, there is something less than empty space — a sucking, absorbing body, in fact, while all around it is that which exerts pressure. Consequently in that which comes to us from the Sun we have not to do with anything constituting a product of combustion in the Sun; but all that has been transmitted to the Sun from the Universe is rayed back…
Where the Sun is, is emptier than empty space…
Matter presses. Ether absorbs. The Sun is an absorbing, sucking ball, and wherever Ether is present we have this absorbent force…
And here we begin to divine a second member or principle of the world’s construction; the one member — pressure and suction, physical and etheric; the other, the second — astral. The astral is neither physical nor etheric but is continually inhaled and exhaled; and the nutation demonstrates this process…”
That is why it is said as a convenient analogy that the Sun sucks, the Moon breathes, and the Earth stands in the middle as Pressure.
Sun = Law of Attraction
Moon = Law of Repulsion
Earth = Law of the Mass (Matter)
Thus, to know this is to breathe in even more consciously, and strive for the rhythmic life. I sing all day, and like to whistle too. Sometimes, you can catch me dancing if it was recorded. The rest I reserve for serious contemplation in these remarks from lecture IV. Thanks, Hazel. This lecture has the power to open the world to a new vision of self working in it.
